cruzgryphon Posted November 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Just wondering what are effective ways to dry one's swimming trunks/ bathing suits in your cabin (cabin with balcony)?
nelblu Posted November 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2016 There's a string in the shower that you could use to dry the bathing suit. Most of the time we place our wet stuff on chairs in the balcony. Someone is going to tell that is not allowed, but I've been doing it for many many years. On the Oasis class, some Pax place their bags in the CP balcony.
reallyitsmema Posted November 23, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Just wondering what are effective ways to dry one's swimming trunks/ bathing suits in your cabin (cabin with balcony)? Depends on the ship you are sailing, but some of them have a clothes line in the bathroom to hang things to dry. We have found that things dry better out in the cabin though, nearer to the a/c unit. If we know we are going to be swimming a lot, we will bring two bathing suits, so we will have a dry one to put on while the other dries. Rolling the bathing suit in a clean towel will get out the excess water prior to hanging it to dry.
soccermommie Posted November 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Lay the wet suit on a dry towel. Roll the towel up to squeeze the excess water out of the suit, and then hang the suit on the retractable clothes line in the shower.

atnolan94 Posted November 23, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2016 We just use the hair dryer that we sneak aboard. Also double task by plugging the hairdryer and an iron on a power strip while smoking cigarettes in the room:D lol jk This is actually a good idea! This is what caused the fire on a Princess ship several years ago.
OCruisers Posted November 23, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2016 We always take at least two each. While the ones we have worn have been hand washed and are drying out (after having been squeezed out good on a towel) on the line in the bathroom, we find they are almost completely dry the next morning and put them to finish up in our cabin close to the a/c. crazybus Posted November 23, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2016 I take a few extra large plastic suction hooks. (From Amazon). They stick great to the back of the door, the bathroom door or if you have an adjoining room door. LuLu Also recommend taking 2 suits and rolling in a towel. I take it one step further ( yes pun intended) by laying the rolled towel on the bathroom floor and than walking over it to get even more water out. On a side note I too miss Sitmar !!! My first cruise that got me hooked on this vacation style was on Sitmar back in the 70's when 20 something's weren't really a big part of the market. cb at sea Posted November 23, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 23, 2016 (edited) Definitely towel dry first...then hang on a hanger from the air vent in the cabin. It will dry MUCH faster than in the bathroom! Or, after your last dip, hop in the shower on the pool deck IN your suit...rinse off...let it dry ON you...then it will be less than damp by the time you head back to the cabin! payitforward Posted November 23, 2016 #15 Share Posted November 23, 2016 I bring the magnetic wall hooks because they do dry better out in the cabin than in the bathroom. I have a friend who actually brought a salad spinner on the last cruise to spin dry clothes and suits. I won't go THAT far. lol
AnonomissX Posted November 23, 2016 #16 Share Posted November 23, 2016 Wring them out, roll in the towel, then twist the towel, then hang to air dry. Voila!
annamarieheath Posted November 23, 2016 #17 Share Posted November 23, 2016 As a family of 4-I take a hook with small pegs attached-the type you get to hang your socks outside -we then hang that on the line above the shower. All 4 sets of swimmers dry for morning. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ducklite Posted November 23, 2016 #19 Share Posted November 23, 2016 We have never had them not dry out in 12 hours or less by hanging them over the line in the bathroom. We wring them out in a towel first. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Viv0828 Posted November 24, 2016 #20 Share Posted November 24, 2016 (edited) We wring the bathing suit or trunks out, roll them in a towel to get out even more moisture, and put them on a hanger. Then we hang the hanger on a hook in the room, on a door knob or anywhere there is good air circulation. We do this with undies as well and everything is usually dry in a few hours. kwazi07 Posted November 24, 2016 #22 Share Posted November 24, 2016 I know it's not allowed, but I usually tie my trunks to balcony furniture. On a warm day, they dry in two hours or overnight.
MrsPete Posted November 24, 2016 #23 Share Posted November 24, 2016 We take clothes pins with us and clip them on to the back of the chairs on the balconyDitto. A couple clips guarantee that they won't blow away. I always take at least three suits so I never have to put on a damp suit -- nothing worse! OCruisers Posted November 24, 2016 #24 Share Posted November 24, 2016 The only problem with leaving them on the balcony overnight is because there will be salt spray no matter how high up your balcony is. :o
cruzin76 Posted November 24, 2016 #25 Share Posted November 24, 2016 I am on vacation if they don't dry overnight whatever I do to dry them, they will be worn the next day if I didn't bring two pair.
