vedettes1 Posted November 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2016 This is being offered by an online TA. I am not familiar with these. What kind of things are offered with these coupons?

If you are referring to what I think, you may save hundreds of dollars using the vouchers. Unfortunately you have to spend thousands of dollars to do this. They are fine if you would have spent money on that service/product anyway but in my opinion are not a deal clincher. Regards John
Cruisin' Chick Posted November 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2016 On our last cruise it was a few days (of a 14-day cruise) that I actually looked through the booklet. Only one of the coupon would have been relevant to us (the Internet one) but you needed to use it right away (I think it was to add to an already purchased package, but as it turned out, we had bought pre-cruise the right number of minutes for our needs). Not interested in the "buy one..." coupons, especially for items we're not interested in.

trabeler Posted November 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 24, 2016 Its very possible that what your TA is offering really isn't anything special from them since every Princess sailing I've been on we've gotten a coupon booklet in the cabin... it appears to be a standard Princess thing. As others have said, there are some useful coupons but only if you spend a lot of money on the shops, spa, etc. So I wouldn't use the offer of this coupon book as a deciding factor between TAs... Hokkaidocruiser Posted November 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) Absolutely worthless.... I would NOT say so. The one Princess gives THROUGH travel agents is different than the one that Princess gives out to every passenger in their cabins. The travel agent coupon book includes a free bottle of wine with purchase of dinner at a specialty restaurtant such as Sabatini's, Crown Grill etc. It also includes a Buy One Get One Free glass of house wine and Buy One Get One Free Cocktails. Also a coupon for an extra 10% off from the onboard shops/boutiques, NO minimum purchase. This extra 10% off CAN be combined with the Elite 10% off and with other onboard promotions. Also a coupon for a Buy One Get One Free Photo from the photo gallery. It also includes other %/$ off coupons from the SPA if that is your thing. Also, some may find useful a Buy One Get One Free Slot or Poker Tournament entry. Unlike the regular Princess coupon/booklet, to get these discounts, you MUST present the travel agent coupon/booklet. I have one of the travel agent coupon books in my hand from my cruise ended last week. I wouldn't call it exactly worthless. RocketMan275 Posted November 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2016 My TA said one of the most valuable coupons was for a free game of bingo. We always use that one.
JF - retired RRT Posted November 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2016 We get one from our TA every time we use her service (most of our cruises - maybe 12 out of 22) and have never used one of the coupons.

I agree I received one of these from my TA last month, thinking it was useless I did not look at it until the last day of our cruise. Missed out on the wine as we went to 3 specialty restaurants(I don't know if it would have worked at salty dog though) and I would of posed for some photos if I knew I could have gotten one free and I did the slot tourney and would have gotten a second entry. The Coupon book expired Dec.2016. Always look...you never know........... It was much better than what everyone gets from princess. Edited November 25, 2016 by land lover
Colo Cruiser Posted November 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) This is being offered by an online TA. I am not familiar with these. caribill Posted November 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted November 25, 2016 I agree I received one of these from my TA last month Actually, they are also from Princess, just included with some cruises as an inducement to book and pretend to be from the TA. They do have several uses: o Prop the cabin door open a little to get an improved Internet signal inside the cabin. o Used to level a table or chair that is uneven. o Individual pages can be used to enter the Princess paper airplane contest held in the Atrium on some cruises. However, they cannot be used, at least on the ship, the way old Sears' catalogs were used as the paper is not compatible with the ship's waste disposal system. latebloomer56 Posted November 25, 2016 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2016 Princess booklets coasters. Have used TA for 20 years (even before discovered cruising) and never received any coupon booklets. Would have used some of the coupons listed above. I always get wine, play bingo and hit the casino :). Maybe I should ask her next time I'm there poking around for fall 2017 & 2018 trips.

Sacto Rick Posted November 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted November 25, 2016 We have used the buy one get one drink coupon and the bingo but really, it's pretty much worthless as everyone says, it'll be a disappointment.
TravelingEA Posted November 25, 2016 #19 Share Posted November 25, 2016 The TA coupon book used to have 2 for 1 coffee cards, but I don't know if they still do. That was worth it.

I agree, TA book not totally worthless, we always use the free wine coupon in the Crown grill, and other coupons on occasion, last cruise used free buy one get one black jack tourney coupon and won tournament, $$$. That probably won't happen again!! But it happened! Note: the other coupon book IS used as a coaster.
