HoosierAUEagle Posted November 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2016 I tend to like toward the middle, both because it makes you not far from anything and the reduction of rocking you might feel. Ideally it'd be on a deck between Lido and Promenade so you could fairly easily take the stairs to and from your room. I like to be close but not too close to the elevator/stairs. Check to see what's around your room, particularly what's above it. ideally it's something quiet (like another guest room or a shop). Being right above the engines can be a bit annoying. Though it's going to come down somewhat to personal preferences. Are you really concerned about rocking? Look for a lower-deck cabin. Love to stay out in the sun? Maybe a cabin on the Lido deck would be ideal. On at least the Spirit Class ships, Carnival classifies some rooms with windows or French doors as interior. These have an obstructed view but they still let in natural light if you are into that sort of thing.
ABQrobin Posted November 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Make sure you are not right over the stage at the Casino or over the main theater.... the music will thump thump thump from 5pm-2am.
dmdiver Posted November 30, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Lido is my favorite because of the close proximity to the pool. I also like decks 7 & 8 because there are cabins above & below. Forward on lower decks you may hear what I think was anchor or mooring noises? More vibration in the aft of the ship.
Hoosierpop Posted November 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2016 We usually do mid or aft. We almost always do deck 7. We try and avoid a room next to a cleaning supply closet. Other than that, we have been very happy with inside cabins. Sent from my iPad using Forums
serene56 Posted November 30, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Deck 7 as close to the aft elevator as possible. Up two decks for food. down two for entertainment Know that inside cabins are extreme darkness 24 hours
poz222 Posted November 30, 2016 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2016 Lido all the way!!! Close to elevators and at the action!!!

Normal 1 Posted November 30, 2016 #9 Share Posted November 30, 2016 On Conquest class ships... Inside cabins 6393 and 7345 are 'technically' 1A cabins but set up similar to balcony. 2 beds on floor CAN be made as a king. Get 6th or 7th floor convenience for cost of 1A. There is also a cabin on deck 8 (8357) in the same location but being under Lido/possible kitchen area worries me. Have stayed in both 6393 and 7345 with no noise issues. Convenient mid-ship location. These cabins are slightly wider than the standard inside cabin.

There is a band that sets up across from the casino bar and starts playing after 9pm and plays til the wee hours of the morning but 7345 is an awesome choice
sfaaa Posted December 1, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Deck 1 midship. Cheapest, less motion & super quiet. Other than you and your cabin neighbors, no one else goes down there. Easy access to/from gangway on port day.

Easy access to/from gangway on port day. I was thinking this. I've stayed in a lower deck porthole and it was like a ghost town down there. Sure it was far away but I didn't mind the walking, in fact, I welcomed it.
Rare Saint Greg Posted December 1, 2016 #15 Share Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) I was thinking this. I've stayed in a lower deck porthole and it was like a ghost town down there. Sure it was far away but I didn't mind the walking, in fact, I welcomed it. Did that first cruise. Spent too much time walking and waiting for elevators. I was on the bottom deck all the way forward. Once I went to a comedy show deck 8 aft. Walked all the way there and realized I left my glasses in the room. Made the long walk to the room and back to the comedy club. That was a workout....then there's the anchor noise on port days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited December 1, 2016 by Saint Greg
tallylass2 Posted December 1, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted December 1, 2016 Thank you all for your input. It is very helpful. I am not looking at any specific ship at this time, just looking for general guidance and trying to make sense of all the different categories and subtle differences. I was a bit concerned when I booked it that I would hear music from Club 02. Never heard a thing but I tended to be out fairly late. Looks like 6373 would be right over where the band sets up by the casino.
ourcruiseyears Posted December 1, 2016 #18 Share Posted December 1, 2016 We always Google "Carnival (ship name) Deck Plan PDF" to scope out the layout of each ship. We note the location of any possible secret decks & where we will spend the majority of our time, as well as stair locations in relation to these. Then we choose a deck that is buffered with staterooms above/below & a stateroom that is surrounded by staterooms for only 2 people. We've found that this system works well for us. You can turn the TV on to the bow cam at night before going to sleep to wake up to the sunrise. :)

There is a band that sets up across from the casino bar and starts playing after 9pm and plays til the wee hours of the morning but 7345 is an awesome choice I have been in 6393 on the Glory and didn't hear a peep from the band one time on a 7 night cruise and they were in fact playing down there as I joined in the festivities a couple times. However, it is right next to a Room Service pantry (which is then next to the laundry room) and there were metal pans banging from the early morning until the late night hours. I actually had to go down to GS after a few nights of no sleep and they got them to tone it down. kycruise Posted December 2, 2016 #20 Share Posted December 2, 2016 I'm very curious about this cabin. I have read various posts about the set up of the beds. We have this cabin booked, but as much as I like my friend I'm traveling with, I don't want to share a bed!

bar1068 Posted December 2, 2016 #25 Share Posted December 2, 2016 What everyone else has said....and Our "goto" cabins are 4J's, particularly on Lido deck, on ships that have them fronting the forward deck, for us best balance of $$ and location...we're not bothered by the movement up front and enjoy the views from the forward deck, and not bothered with the "extra" walking. However, since the are relatively few 4J cabins, we sometimes miss out on booking them. When that happens, we'll book an interior on one of the decks with the forward 4J's, and book as far forward as we can get, giving us "quick" access to the forward deck. Pretty minor stuff, but worth it to us quick access to the forward deck.
