kathy884 Posted December 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2016 Has anyone every gotten the large balconies on the Escape? They look the same size as the others width wise, but look twice as deep. Anyway, we booked three of these next to each other for our party of six, mostly as we like to use balconies a lot, would like to sit out together and visit, and hear that removal of dividers is against NCL policy. With the large balcony it looks like we could maybe get four of us at a time out there? Also, what has been your experience getting dividers removed. We aren't counting on that, but it would be really nice if we could do that and have our three large balconies combined for socialization. We are a three generation family group - a separate generation in each cabin.

cf3670 Posted December 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2016 We have a cruise coming up with adjoining rooms so we too can share the balcony space. I've heard the dividers can't be removed while sailing. Wondering if this is true? Sent from my iPad using Forums

Those actually serve a purpose for fire control.
Sand and Seas Posted December 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2016 (edited) Does anyone have pictures of these balconies on Escape? I can only find Getaway/Breakaway's pictures and not sure if they are the same on Escape. Do they have two loungers on them? Rare BirdTravels Posted December 31, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2016 The doors on the dividers against the rail are suppose to be closed in accordance with the ship's policy (fire protection). In general, if you ask your room steward nicely, they will open he divider door for you. You can walk between balconies, not have a triple wide balcony. However, the crew sometimes opens all of the dividers while in port so they can walk down the length of the ship to wash the balconies and rails. They will close the door behind them. So you'll have to ask your steward to open them again.

We are a three generation family group - a separate generation in each cabin. We had 3 adjoining large balcony rooms on the Escape. The dividers cannot be removed however, they can be opened (each divider actually has 2 sections, only one will open) and kept open during cruise. The room steward opened ours on the first day and kept all 3 open throughout the cruise. Yes, the larger balcony can be used by 4 people at a time. Its a little tight but quite doable. LadySpoilt actually answered the question. And my response was for OP's first part of question. " can the dividers be opened" YES they can. Many threads people adamantly post that dividers cannot be opened, which of course is untrue. As far as can 3 be opened yes LadySpolit said they had 3. We had 2. kathy884 Posted December 31, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted December 31, 2016 Thanks for the responses. We'll ask and see if we can have the divider doors opened. Good to know they are small openings vs. dividers that almost give you a triple deck for setting expectations. // Nice to know four can fit out together in one, but it's a little cramped -- That's what we gathered from photos. There are just six of us cruising, so this should work out pretty well for us. Anyway we are looking forward to trying NCL. Did one of there cruises back in the 90s, but that hardly counts. Ships and cruising have changed a lot since those days.
cruisin07family Posted December 31, 2016 #14 Share Posted December 31, 2016 Are the Escape large balconies "alcove" balconies? Similar I suppose to the Epic's enclosed balconies. I do not want to feel like I'm in a cave but I would like a larger balcony. I'm also looking at the cabins that seem to be on the bump out because while angled they are usually bigger.
