I see JW red is available with the premium drink package. How about Black? How about Blue? Any idea of the price for Blue?

I don't drink JW, but one of the folks beside me at the World Class Bar was told the cutline was between Gold and Platinum. Don't recall how much over the package Blue was going for.

Johnnie Walker Red is on the Classic package. JW Black is premium package. World Class Bar has Black, Double Black, and Gold included in the Premium package. Blue is available at the World Class Bar for Premium package + $20.

For me, the Black is my favorite. The Double Black is too smoky. I got comped a drink of Blue at the World Class Bar and even though it is very smooth, I still prefer Black.

I buy the JWB on the cruise ship to take home. Great prices for us and to use some OBC. One of the bars or Michael's Club had JWB.

This was asked in Michael's Club.

"I did get a "no" when I asked for Johnnie Walker Blue. The World Class Bar had it but would charge $20 over what the premium package included. Their bartender did comp me a shot of it once. Personally, I like the Johnnie Walker Black better."

CC members will post pictures of the menus from time to time. Check out this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2390756&highlight=Bar+menus as there pictures of the drink menus. It clearly shows both JW Red & Black as part or the premium package. Didn't see any pricing for the others, maybe I missed them.

They were doing a thimble full tasting at duty free on Reflection last week. If memory serves, JWB has a decent percentage of Lagavulin, and I'd frankly just as soon spend $80 a bottle for straight Lagavulin...

Just my $0.02 and YMMV.

Undoubtedly the best whisky selection on Reflection was at the World Class Bar.

That's not a bad markup for JWBlue - typically it's around $50-70 at most bars/restaurants

Last time we were on Infinity they had Highland Park so i had that and JW black. Agree with markeb on Lagavulin. Have seen Lagavulin listed on the premium package list but has anyone seen it? I favor the peaty ones. Talisker, Laphroig, Lagavulin.

Ouch, only tried blue once, January '16 on NCL Spirit, $4 up charge plus 18% gratuity.

Super premium brands were $19, fifteen of which was covered by package.

They could improve their Islay selections considerably IMHO.

And educate the JW drinkers at the same time! :D :p

Platinum is in the premium package at the world class bar. Blue is not worth the upgrade (nor the price) to me....My assessment (I've tried all the JW's) is that Blue is popular more for it's price than for it's taste.

Not a fan of the peaty scotches, but I do like a good single malt. I'll typically drink JW Black when there are no good single malt choices around. I'm noticing, however, that on Celebrity's website on their list of scotches on the premium package that Black isn't listed. I'm assuming that this must be a typo. No big deal as they have Macallan and a few others.

JW Blue was not available on Reflection or Infinity. However there are other very nice whiskys (like Macallan) to be enjoyed on the premium package besides JW types.

The World Class Bar on the Reflection had JW Blue on the B2B I was on from Dec. 3 - 17.

My honest opinion is that it's vastly over rated on a pure value for money basis and trades on its brand name.

As a hobby I trade in collectable and rare whisky on specialist secondary market whisky auctions that we have here in the UK. Every month you'll see 20cl, 70cl and liter bottles go through at below retail price here. That said what you will see is limited edition bottles make silly money. It's the same liquid just in a 'limited edition' bottle, but because there are JWB collectors who take their collecting very seriously they'll pay well over retail once stocks have ran out.

As a result I tend to scour duty free for these, hold them for a couple of years and then auction them off. A $60 bottle would make around $120 ish.

Red label isn't highly regarded. There's an auction due to finish tomorrow. Right now 2 x 35cl bottles have the bidding at £5 or approximately $6.25

Silent stills such as Port Ellen, Brora, Rosebank and Japanese Karuizawa are where the interesting bottles are though. If Celebrity wanted to really up their game they'd procure and offer these kind of exclusive malts which simply won't be around in years to come as there's very limited stock of them left. ;)

They also had JW Blue from Dec 24-31. Also Talisker, Cao Ila, and Oban. Three of my favorite single malts. Lagavulin is on their list, but with those three available at the World Class Bar, I never went looking for it. Nor did I seek out Macallan.

I can confirm that JW Black is on the premium package. Agree with you about Macallan 12.

There's no Macallan on the Eclipse...... I drank it all:D

careful buying booze in the Caribbean, a lot of that fancy scotch hails from China! Much like the Cuban Cigars and the Rolex watches.

What's wrong with buying a nice bottle of Jahnny Wolker bleu and a Relox for $20. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Sorry, couldn't resist.

So it was YOU!

On our recent Caribbean cruise on Eclipse I was told that they were out of Macallan at Oceanview Bar. Same at Martini Bar. No big deal. I just switched to Glenlivet. The next day, while on the "Behind the Scenes Tour" we visited every storeroom on the ship. There were 4 huge storerooms for alcoholic beverages and mixers.

Guess what I found!

I showed this picture to the same bartender at Oceanview Bar and he got a bottle right away. Same thing that night at Martini Bar. Enjoyed Macallan the rest of the cruise.

On my December Equinox cruise we went to St. Thomas, St. Kitts & Saint Maarten among other ports. On the Live thread, some people said St. Thomas had the best prices. Another said St. Kitts did. I maintained Saint Maarten did. So I I did a comparison. Then posted it on my live. Here's a direct link to the comparisons of the various JW flavors.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=51770338&postcount=182

I bought one bottle of JW Blue in Saint Maarten for $99. They etched my name on it for free and filled it with gold paint.

IMG_1816_zpsayxkkhi6.jpg

But since I had OBN credit, I made the ship's liquor store match the price so I got another two for $198 for "free."

IMG_1614_zpse93nnurf.jpg

Boy did they make me jump through hoops because they didn't want to discount from $310 to $198!!!! But I was prepared after they found a loop hole on a previous cruise. They even had to call a high level manager because the first one the store clerk called didn't have the authority to match that low a price.

Regarding the World Class Bar on my cruise. My first visit I walked up and asked, "Is the Johnny Walker Platinum included in the Premium Package?" They said yes and the rest was history. I would even get doubles to walk.

If you haven't tried JW XR21, I suggest you do. It's a 21 year old blend which is less expensive than Blue and I like it better.

I'm hoping the Eclipse in two weeks is the same as Equinox. I'm liquor shopping again in Saint. Maarten. Blue and XR21 doesn't go bad but it will be a few years before I get back there again. :D

I wouldn't give JW Red to someone I didn't like, it's that bad.
