*Fudge* Posted January 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2017 I saw on rc website that they may or may not be included on some itineraries and this could put an extra 18% on the price. I also saw mentioned on here that there is sometimes a discount on the package price, is this correct or just a maybe? Thank you in advance 🙂
forkcreek Posted January 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2017 18% "gratuity" is added to the cost of all drink packages. On a few occasions we have seen the packages sold onboard at a discount but there seems to be no consistency.

Yes, there have been discounts, but it varies by the ship/itinerary and usually limited to US bookings.
Fouremco Posted January 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2017 Yes, the 18% gratuity is added at the time of purchase. There are regular sales on beverage packages on the US and Canadian web sites. I can't speak for others.
Biker19 Posted January 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) There is always 18% gratuity added on drink packages........ But it may be included in the price and not seen as a separate charge. Edited January 14, 2017 by Biker19

They operate under a different set of rules than in the US.
*Fudge* Posted January 14, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted January 14, 2017 Thank you all 🙂 I wonder if anyone may have a link or has an idea of drinks prices to help us decide whether to get a package please? Just an estimate is fine, a beer, whisky, cosmopolitan, black russian for instance.
Biker19 Posted January 15, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 15, 2017 The break even point between the package and buying drinks individually is usually at 5+ drinks. So, if you know you will get more than 5 drinks per day, get the package.

uksimonusa Posted August 19, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2017 I think ships sailing from the UK and Australia have the drinks packages priced including gratuities, Oasis sails from the US for even thought the OP might book in the UK grats will still be added. Ocean Boy Posted August 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 19, 2017 But it may be included in the price and not seen as a separate charge. But the first time I bought a package the gratuity was included in the price showing in the planner. The next time, same price as first purchase, 18% was added onto the price showing in the planner. So the actual total was 18% higher the second time.
Biker19 Posted August 19, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Oasis sails from the US for even thought the OP might book in the UK grats will still be added. The grats are always in the final price, it's just a matter of when booking you "see" it separately or not - in the UK you are not likely.
clarky213 Posted August 19, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 19, 2017 Go to your cruise planner and add the package. Before you checkout you can view the price breakdown. You will then see if there is a service charge added.
