cruises to NZ and Tas

Only here for a couple months apparently, it will fill up with Aussies. That's why it is coming here.

They have wrecked QE though adding cabins aft and losing the nice raked aft decks. QV is next on the chopping block. Blame the bean counters at Carnival Corp, all about bodies in bunks.

Who knows what they will do to QM2 to cram another 300 pax on. Put a few in the dog kennels for a start.

This was an email i got:

Cunard will base Queen Elizabeth in Australia in 2019.

Cunard has announced Queen Elizabeth will spend two months in Australian waters in 2019, the longest deployment down under for any of the line's current fleet.

The vessel will operate seven different cruises from Sydney and Melbourne, including two trans-Tasman voyages, three to Tasmania and two stopping by South Australia.

The itineraries form part of Cunard's 2019 world voyage program, which will be released on 14 Mar and go on sale 30 Mar.

Cunard vice president international development David Rousham said Queen Elizabeth's local 2019 season would offer a total of 27 combination itineraries.

"This will be the first time that Cunard has featured so many voyages to and from Melbourne in addition to Sydney, and will give Australians a much greater number of options to experience Cunard than ever before," Rousham said.

Win, win for us, especially if the pricing is competitive.

Bear in mind that Australians will be competing with overseas cruisers for space as I am sure the cruises will be widely promoted in Britain and North America. It will be their winter and it will be promoted as a "safe : destination.

Just to clarify, there were no cabins added to QE, she was designed and built that way originally.

If it was the Queen Mary 2 that they were sending it would certainly get my interest. In reality this is just another Vista class ship and in reality is nothing different to the HAL versions or P&O's Arcadia. As a result it has no special appeal to it whatsoever and will not entice me to doing a cruise on it.

Although the service and decor would be different.

Didn't see any sign of itineraries today :( would have been nice to see whats going to be on offer exactly. Advertising blurb on the Cunard page was pretty lack luster for the Aus/Nz region.

I was a bit disappointed too.

Both would have been great but I could have settled for just the itineraries today. At least then I can see exactly where and when they are going, worry about if I can afford it later [emoji1]
