Rare Presto2 Posted February 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Hi, Just noticed on another thread that Oceana is due her refit at the end of the year and there is talk of Caf? Jardin changing. Am just wondering if anyone has any more gossip re what they will be doing to her. Love Oceana and hope they get it right :-) We are taking close family on their first cruise on her in April 2018 so it better be good!!!
Monorail Orange Posted February 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2017 I hope they don't remove Cafe Jardin completely. Maybe change the layout a little, but other than that, it's fine as it is.
kruzseeka Posted February 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2017 (edited) I wonder if they will change it to a Glasshouse as they did on Aurora. I like the Glasshouse but was very disappointed to see the Caf? Jardin disappear. Wierd - it keeps changing the 'e' acute to a ? when you submit the post. I just found when replying on another thread that it does the same with the pound symbol. Another "benefit" of the recent forum revamp?
tartanexile81 Posted February 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2017 It was in our magazine from P&O a few months ago so not rumour or gossip. It's being changed to a Glasshouse

tartanexile81 Posted February 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2017 Oh no .. after our visit on Britannia am not impressed with that one! A visit's one thing but choosing from the wine list is another - fantastic choice in the Glasshouse (hence it's name as all wines are available by the glass) The original Glasshouse was on Azura and that's the best bar at sea - no question. Beautiful!

Rare P&O SUE Posted March 1, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Love the Glasshouse on Azura and Ventura (not tried the one on Britannia yet) but I think it's a real shame the ships are getting standardised. I went to Sabatini's ( I think it was called) on Oriana but now that has changed to a Beach House. Didn't get on Aurora because our cruise on her was cancelled so their unique eaterie was changed to the Glasshouse. I liked the sound of Cafe Jardin as I understand you could have "free" breakfast and lunch there - but the Glasshouse isn't open for breakfast and charge for lunch (although it's lovely!) Just seems a shame I've missed all these little different restaurants on the smaller ships:(
davecttr Posted March 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 1, 2017 If they are changing the Kaf to a Glasshouse I hope they incorporate access to the public toilets forward for people using Winners bar and the casino. It is a major irritation to have to go down a deck. Thinks, the glasshouse was meant to be a bar that served food and it still works like that on Ventura. I found the concept on Britannia had been changed so the bar was a lot smaller. On Aurora it did not work for me, again a small bar and some of the seating was designed for young cruisers who were adept at rock climbing!. So will they be incorporating a bar in the new glasshouse and no cover charge or reserving tables except for the special dinners.

Beautiful! Totally agree - the original one on Azura is the best - a stunningly beautiful space. We love the Glass House on all the ships, although Aurora's isn't used as much as it should be at night due to where it is I think. We were on Oceana last March and said to each other that Cafe Jardin would be changed to a Glass House so we're not at all surprised by this news. It will make a lovely space for having a glass of wine, as well as lunches and dinners, although I do agree it will be a shame to lose the ability to have breakfast there. Mr Piano Posted March 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Getting a little worried about all this talk of a refit, we are doing our first cruise on Oceana in June, so concerned it will be a little dishevelled and tired looking. Regarding glass house, we also love it too on both Azura and Ventura. I agree the the Azura glasshouse just about wins it. We particularly love the wine pairing dinners

Rare Presto2 Posted March 1, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Sorry but we were really disappointed by the Glass House on Britannia. Very small and we didn't get it at all. We are on Ventura in August so hopefully it will be better there.

Just seems a shame I've missed all these little different restaurants on the smaller ships:( I completely agree with you and I too hate the ships all having the same things on board. The Italian eatery at night on Oriana was Sorrento I think and was fabulous. The menu in the Beach House is like that of any chain restaurant on a local Leisure Park and holds absolutely no appeal to me. I preferred Cafe Bordeaux on Aurora to the Glass House product but sadly 'homogenisation' seems to be the name of the game for Carnival Brands. Adonia, Aurora and Oriana in general attract a different passenger demographic to Britannia, Azura & Ventura but P&O don't seem to care about any more. Beach House has a lovely atmosphere but I agree the food isn't inspiring. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare Presto2 Posted March 4, 2017 Author #21 Share Posted March 4, 2017 And the food is excellent. Nothing at all to write home about on Britannia so hopefully it will be better on Ventura.
