kgtgirl Posted March 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2017 Hello, So we are a party of 6. Me, my DH, our 2 small boys and My parents. I booked a 2 bedroom suite and a connecting mini-suite for the Dawn. I know that means only the people in the bedroom suite will get the suite perks, but as there is no Haven I'm not sure what we'll be missing out and how it worked for other people. I have plenty of time to change things so I'm trying to decide if losing the connecting room and giving my parents a suite is a necessity or if we can make do

Husky1987 Posted March 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2017 No priority embark e t/disembarkment or private restaurant. Those two alone might be the deal breaker for you if everyone being together for meals/excursions is important (which it sounds like it would be). Well we're going to Bermuda so getting off early at ports isn't an issue and embarkation and disembarkation aren't too big an issue we live in Mass. It's more will I be able to utilize the concierge for specialty dining reservation, if I book entertainment can we give our tickets to my parents on nights we won't use them. And Im guessing they can't join us for breakfast or lunch at Cagney's/moderno which is annoying as my 2 kids won't really use it.

You don't get tickets when you book entertainment, your seapass gets scanned when you are at the theater.

Probably not pc but can we just trade sea passes around, or will we get picked up by the ncl police ;)

Typically you are allowed to bring a guest to the "suite restaurant" once during the week and a cost of $25....

Budget Queen Posted March 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 19, 2017 I was on the Dawn, in Bermuda twice last year. There are NO entertainment reservations. It doesn't matter, if your kids won't use the perks. They are the only ones who can. You can not trade them off to people, who have not booked the suite cabins. I wouldn't be looking for any exceptions either. It's pretty clear.
emcelh Posted March 19, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2017 Typically you are allowed to bring a guest to the "suite restaurant" once during the week and a cost of $25.... I believe that's only on ships that have a Haven restaurant that offers dinner in addition to breakfast and lunch.
Até Posted March 19, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2017 kgtgirl, I was in a similar situation on a non-Haven ship last year. I think you are actually better off than us as your situation arose because of your desire to have adjoining cabins. I had my four adult children booked into ocean views as it was cheaper than booking us all in one suite and buying four beverage and dining packages. Like your situation, officially they were not entitled to to any suite perks and that would have been okay. At check-in we went through the regular lines as I paid for all three rooms and also was covering their sail cards. The check-in agent called the concierge over and we discussed the situation starting with my acknowledgment that I did not expect they be given suite perks, but if he was open to allowing us to remain together at breakfast/lunch and embarking/disembarking I would be sure to acknowledge the gesture. Read that as tip accordingly. He insisted we all come over to the suite area for embarkation and later that day had all my children moved to VIP status so they could even eat the Moderno breakfast/lunch without us. That worked out well as they tended to stay up late and sleep in. He also escorted our entire group for tendering. The theater on the Dawn only has a section reserved for the Garden Villas/Owner's Suites so probably will not come into play for you, they aren't very good seats anyway. Your results will depend on the concierge's decision and it seems like you have the right idea to not go in expecting special treatment.

The concierge will be able to help with dining reservations that include your entire party. For breakfast and lunch, order enough for everyone via the Butler. You can order from the Moderno/Cagney's menu and all will be delivered to your suite. The connecting door would be very convenient!

dexddd Posted March 20, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 20, 2017 I believe that's only on ships that have a Haven restaurant that offers dinner in addition to breakfast and lunch. That is my understanding too and for the last year plus more people have reported that is no longer an option vs those that have said it is available. Rare FitchburgWIFamily Posted March 20, 2017 #19 Share Posted March 20, 2017 We have booked a suite and an interior. We all checked in together and all boarded together. It was only breakfast and lunch in Moderno we could not share. We were a party of seven. We booked six to the suite and one to the interior. We slept three to the interior and four in the suite. On any given day, any six of us could eat at Moderno. Regardless of who was booked where or who slept where. Rest of the perks were provided to all. I have plenty of time to change things so I'm trying to decide if losing the connecting room and giving my parents a suite is a necessity or if we can make do On the Dawn the only things that the mini-suite will miss out on are the priority disembarkation, Suite section in the theater, and the Moderno breakfast/lunch perk. On our January cruise Roeul (sp) was the Concierage. Priority Disembarkation by Mark Davis, on Flickr Get to know him, explain your cabin arraignment. He has the authority to extend some suite benefits to the others. NCL is known to give VIP benefits to non-suite passengers. (Roll Call coordinators etc.) If you want the Butler to bring food for everyone. Just tell him. He will deliver it to the Suite. You can pass it out from there. It is not guaranteed that the Concierage will do anything for you. For that you will be better off booking the second Suite. By the way, having the built-in babysitter next door, is the best perk you have. Mark
