I'm loving the T-shirts, very clever.

It is wonderful to read everyone having a good time. A friend who sailed on Silver Spirit recently for the first time told me how much she enjoyed her sailing.

We are here in Lisboa. Beautiful sunny glorious day. Last night the sea became a giant bathtub, calm and quiet as we made our way to this magnificent port.

About Fifty guests continuing on to Barcelona. The Spirit will be full for the next segment.

So sorry that you both cannot be out and about! Lisboa is a wonderful city; I only hope you've visited before. If not, right back to your bucket list! Hopefully your DH will feel better before your sailaway.

Ah, I see what you're doing with the posts... you're replying to them in order to add photos. You can edit them to add photos to the original post, without replying and creating a second post. See below. I will edit this and take a screenshot, and add it.

Touch the pencil icon in the top right to edit the post, not the arrow, which replies to the post with quote. Then you can add your picture. You can also add pictures during the original posting process, if you expand the reply box. There's a caret (up arrowhead) on the left of the text box where you type. If you hit that, the box expands, and the add picture icon shows up.

Not been here before...

The view of the church is from our suite verandah. DH has kennel cough so we are en suite.

Great news that Spins and the Silver Spirit has made it to Lisbon. Wonderful pictures posted and shared. Love to see many, MANY more!! Hint. Hint. Sorry about the kennel cough for your DH. Love to hear any and all details, tips, insights, etc., for Lisbon and nearby. Our time is getting closer to June 9 when we depart for Lisbon and to be starting our Silversea sailing on June 14. Keep it coming!!

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Lisbon is compact. A day is sufficient to get a good overview. But lots to see outside of the city too. We enjoyed it every time. Hope you feel better soon and can get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Appreciate these great tips, ideas, comments and follow-ups from the super helpful JP. On Lisbon, others have urged us to spend some time in and around the Portugal capital. Fortunately, we have four days in Lisbon before our Silver Spirit cruise north to Spain, Bordeaux, Brittany, etc. For JP and/or others, what are the nearby "must-sees" that you loved and urge us to consider for seeing while having time in the Lisbon area?? Don't be shy! Keep it coming with any and ALL details about this area that we have not previously visited.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

for more info and many pictures of these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 177,041 views for this posting.

Just heard from Spins that her DH is doing better. I had forgotten that they are doing a B2B on the Silver Spirit. They are departing today from Lisbon for Portimao/Portugal, Cadiz/Spain, Gibraltar/UK, Malaga/Spain, Cartagena/Spain, Ibiza/Spain and Valencia/Spain before arriving in Barcelona. Looking forward to more reports and details. Not sure Candy will post more here or start a new thread. Looking forward to seeing and reading additional pictures, ship insights, etc.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

For details and visuals, etc., from our July 1-16, 2010, Norway Coast/Fjords/Arctic Circle cruise experience from Copenhagen on the Silver Cloud, check out this posting. This posting is now at 212,132 views.

Spins, if I catch you in time, there are great finds at very reasonable prices in embroidered and otherwise fine tableware and other linens. I found prices much better than in Lisbon. Just in case you are interested in this sort of things....

Happened to see this item on Lisbon this week. From the London/UK Daily Mail two days ago, they have this part of a headline: “See Europe's key cities without breaking the bank: Cheap escape to Lisbon with these highlights: Exploring some of the top sights in Europe need not cost a fortune. With its lofty hills, sun-blushed streets and exciting food scene, Lisbon is hard to beat. It's full of charm — century-old trams, baroque architecture and the Tagus waterfront. Arty abodes and cosy cafes are inexpensive. TOP TIP: Time your trip for the first Sunday of the month when many of the best sights, including the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and the Torre de Belém, open their doors for no charge.”.

Sounds exciting and fun! Cannot wait till June when we arrive in June for exploring Lisbon and nearby for the first time. Other high-values such as Dubrovnik, Budapest, Warsaw, Riga, etc., are detailed in this travel story. Other experiences and success stories to share from Lisbon.

Love to hear any and all tips, secrets and ideas for Portugal.

Hope that Spins and others on this cruise have made it back home safe, sound and maybe a little rested. Or, maybe, taking time to recover from all of the activities and fun?

Look forward to any summary perspectives as to their sailing on the Silver Spirit, tips for those on this ship in the future, etc. Now it is just 47 days till we fly to Lisbon for our first visit there and then getting on the Silver Spirit in 52 days.. Looking forward to experiencing Portugal, this larger SS ship, etc. Hope you can share any added thoughts and ideas on Lisbon, etc.

From the Travel Section of the London/UK Daily Mail a week ago, they have this headline: Europe's jewels: From strolling through Monaco to sipping port in Porto with many highlights about Lisbon, etc.

Among the story aspects are: Lisbon has a Med climate but is on the Atlantic. We’d been told not to miss the market in Praca da Figueira. There were unusual things perfect for Christmas presents, so I shopped and then we visited the district of Rua Augusta to take a look at the Praca do Comercio, otherwise known as Palace Square as it was the location of the Royal Ribeira Palace until it was destroyed by a huge earthquake in 1755. Then we took a hairy taxi ride to the Castelo de Sao Jorge sitting atop the highest hill, which gave us another stunning view of the medieval maze that is the Alfama area.”.

Hi, Lois! For our eleven-day Lisbon to Rouen sailing on the Silver Spirit, I am planning to do a live/blog and will be happy to share lots of details for this ship, etc. I just looked at your ports in August for your Barcelona to Rome sailing.

WOW!! That's a super great itinerary. Really impressive. For those who have not seen it, that cruise includes departing Barcelona and doing Spain's Mallorca, Ibiza (overnight there), Mahon/Menorca, Sardinia. Portoferraio/Elba/Italy, two days for Livorno/Florence/Tuscany and finishing Aug. 18 in Rome.

Have done lots in Barcelona, Tuscany/Florence and Rome. Happy to share more for those exciting areas and and answer any questions. But, I would love to be tucked away in your suitcases and visiting these other exciting Med locations. It will be exciting, especially on a nice Silversea ship with a great crew and fellow passengers.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Excellent. Look forward to it Terry.

Will certainly be asking you to check camera mounting locations on and around the bow and aft on different decks. Fortunately SS tend to use metal rail bars which are easy to attach to making timelapse videoing easy to do. (If only finding time to edit was as easy!!!!)

Thank you.:).......where is the dock located in Barcelona? The one thing I did not ask on the SPAIN FORUM.

I am staying at Hotel Pulitzer which gets very good reviews:)......just wondering how long it will take me to get

to the ship from the hotel. Do you have any clue about it?

It'll be about 15 minutes in a Taxi - probably about 20 Euros

Route

Spirit will usually be berthed in a great location in the inner harbour next to the world trade centre. The Barcelona Port Authority have only published details up to the end of June, so should be there shortly to confirm this or not. There are no other small ships in port on that day though so I cant believe thats not where you'll be.

SILVER SPIRIT 594 PAX (So they say - but 540 I thought?)

AIDASTELLA 2.447 PAX

JEWEL OF THE SEAS 2.326 PAX

Lois, if you can possibly change your hotel choice to the Eurostar Grand Marina you'll be located right next to the Spirit if she docks at the WTC....which she usually does. Porters from the hotel will escort you with your luggage to the ship, it's a two minute walk.

Sophia 😊
