VIFP Program - Accounts for kids?

We are cruising with our family on the Fascination. We are not first-timers and already have VIFP accounts. At what point do we set up accounts for our kids and for our extended family so they can get credit for this trip? We booked our cruise through Costco Travel, so they won't know the answer.

Thanks!

Just sign up with Carnival. Not sure what the problem is?

At what point do I set up accounts for them? Before, during, or after the cruise? How are the kids' accounts set up? Can I link them all to my E-mail or do they need their own E-mail addresses? Our kids' don't have E-mail addresses that they manage on a regular basis.

All technical questions that Costco Travel does not have the answers to nor does the Carnival website.

before the cruise. they can't get benefits until they're 18, but sign up any way. Use your email. Not sure why you can't figure this out on your own?

Because my E-mail is already being used for my own account. Traditionally, you can only set accounts with unique E-mail addresses. I'm not sure why you can't recognize this on your own.

You're thinking of the Princess Captain's Circle where kids get no recognition or benefits for their loyalty until they're 18.

Kids get their corresponding VIFP benefits on Carnival, including the appropriately colored ship cards. Passengers younger than 18 get arcade credit instead of the 2 for 1 casino entree. In May I'll tell you her Platinum story, it's very funny.

The VIFP accounts are automatically set up upon booking if one does not already exist.

We use the same email, no problem. Could call Carnival as VIFP level questions are not related to a particular cruise. I've done this for several cruises when we have used a TA.

Definitely set them up immediately. Make sure you add the cruises your kids have been on with you to their account. They should each have their own VIFP #. My kids have had their own accounts under my email since they have been 7/10 years old. I do think you have to make a different username for each child, though.

So glad you joined the conversation with your condescending attitude. And false information.

My children (11 and 7) are Gold and receive the same things I do.

And the other posters are correct, they will automatically receive a VIFP number once they are booked. I don't have an email associated with their accounts. Not sure that it matters.

The only thing I would add to this discussion is. For everyone traveling adult or child.

Keep all of your cruise documents until about a week after you get home.

I recommend this so that you can go into everyone's account via their VIFP number and password (which you will have to set up for each person) on cruise manager to check and make sure your cruise history has been updated, and you've been given credit for the cruise days you just completed.

Sometimes the system doesn't post a completed cruise and it's much easier to get it added sooner when you have all the documentation available, than to go back a year later or more and try to prove you were on a certain cruise.

Once my cruise is posted on my history I print out a copy so I have it for future reference because sometimes the cruise histories disappear.

Great advice. I will keep that in mind.

I think that you are confusing an online Carnival account with a VIFP account. The VIFP account is set up automatically when someone cruises and you accumulate 1 day for each day cruised, regardless of your age.

The online access to the Carnival website does require a unique user id for each account. You can choose not to use your email address for the user id. I have both my husband and myself set up with user accounts, both with my email address; however, each has a unique user id.

Hope this helps.

We didn't have to set up anything for our son. Once we made the reservation and he completed his first cruise, he was automatically set up in the VIFP club by Carnival. He doesn't have an online account. Our entire family books under my carnival.com account and Carnival updates everyone's points when we complete our cruises.

Kids can formally create a user name at 14(?). For awhile one of my kids was able to check his account, and the other couldn't because she was still too young. I also scan their accounts now for cruise discounts. You never know what's hanging out in the "My Offers" section...

Assuming that when you booked again your travel agent did not put your husband's VIFP number on the cruise.  We had this happen with my sister and just had to call to get the cruise(s) added afterwards or her number added before we left.

Okay thank you, I will probably have to call. We were booking through Costco online and I thought we activated his account last night but when we put it in it wouldn’t let us book so we just used my number so we could book. Through his account though it says we have a cruise so I’m all confused.

I think it is online account vs VIFP number 🙂 don't worry after a few of these you will be a pro at it....or at least feel more comfortable.  You can also go onto CCLs website to the manage VIFP Club and search by birthdate/name and then it will show you his VIFP number so you can make sure to get that added.  Same with the kids if they have cruised...otherwise after the cruise they will have that as well.

I have a little spreadsheet I keep with everyone's numbers for all he different lines for booking to help me keep them straight too.

I just wanted to say I set up all my kids email address for VIFP.  Then when I make bookings, I don't even have to give agent their vifp number as they are all linked to my acct.  If you go into your settings you can set up who normally travels with you and this is where I list my kids.  My kids have been cruising since they were young.  My daughter sailing tomorrow on her own (!), without parental units, will reach platinum level, woo hoo.  Then traveling again with us in Jan along with her brother, who will turn platinum on that sailing.  So just make sure you keep their vifp numbers when you make bookings so that they get credit for it.  Also, if you plan on more sailings, make sure to look into buying Carnival Cruise stock.  We always get $50-100 on board credit.  You only need to buy for one person, like husband or wife as you can only get one credit per cabin.   Daughter purchased her 100 shares last year and tomorrows sailing she will get $50 on board credit as she is sailing under 5 days.

If you enter the VIFP number in the Carnival site you can see how many cruise days that number has... if cruises are missing, there's a place you can click on to add missing cruises or ask them to check into it... if it's recent (as in, not before computers were alive LOL!) they should be able to find them and give you credit. If not, then you will have to provide some proof that you were on that particular cruise (S&S card, embarkation photo, something...).

I have never set up accounts for my children and they are all platinum. I make the booking, manage the bookings and set up payments and check-in.

I had an issue that one of my children had a split account because we a accidentally put in a wrong spelling of his name once but a quick call to Carnival and it was merged. I also keep all the cruise sign and sale cards. It helped also  because I could photo copy all of them and take them in the ship to show the front desk if anything wasn’t right.

I really don't think one needs to do anything for the kids from my personal experience - but keep the S&S cards after and then you will never have an issue.

Possibly a change in name of birthdate that triggered a new account. If you have the booking numbers/sign and sail cards or if he was on the cruise and linked to you before they can look that up.

Call Carnival and they will help you.
