  1. 1. Should Carnival keep the aft area pools on Conquest Class ships adult only?

    • Yes I want them to be for adults only
    • No I want them to be family friendly
    • Don't care either way

It WAS an adults only pool but I agree, one will not get a full refund if they booked Early Saver. If not booked Early Saver and prior to final payment date, one can get a full refund for any reason.

Kids were always welcomed to use the seating in the area, go to pizza or burger, ice cream machines, etc. The pools themselves were adults only, but NOT the whole aft area. So to say they are changing the aft area to be kid friendly is not correct, the aft area already was kid friendly. The pools were not, and that is what is changing.

The Breakaway and Breakaway plus class ships have a free adults only area called Spice H2O. Never been to the Vibe beach club which you have to pay for. From what I've heard there isn't a lot of difference.

There was a huge difference in Vibe and Spice H2O. Spice was packed, while Vibe never had more than 20 people, had comfortable cushioned loungers, we had waiters taking our orders, spritzing us with cold water, bringing us fruit skewers, cold towels, pitchers of water, and pampered us all day. We had an awesome bartender who made delicious shots about every 30 minutes. He would line up a shot glass for every person up there and pour them all at once. He would even fill up my Yeti with ice cold water or margaritas, whatever I was in the mood for. We made new friends and had a wonderful time. I can't wait to cruise with them again, although it won't be as nice if we aren't able to get Vibe passes again.

I buy the week long spa pass (18+) which gets me my loungers, pool and hot tub, without the sun and booze (which I don't need).

While the spa would be nice on a rainy day, I love the sun and working on my tan, so I wouldn't want to spend a beautiful day in there.

I like the rule change, we were on the Glory in November with my niece and nephews and the days it was raining they couldn't use the main pool the aft pool was the only one that had a roof on it and I didn't think it was fair that kids couldn't use it

I'm not even a Carnival cruiser, but I just had to chime in. This is a reflection of what is happening in society as a whole. You can't go to a nice restaurant on land without having to hear screaming children who have been dragged out to a venue which is not age-appropriate at a time which is or should be past their bedtime. You invite friends over for drinks, they bring their children - uninvited and unannounced. I am no child hater. I have two nieces who are the light of my life. But I resent the fact that there are no boundaries anymore, and no privileges for children to EARN. Carnival, by implementing this change, you are demonstrating that you are a microcosm of a society gone bat**** crazy. Shame on you. Have some respect for the people who actually pay the bills.

If I were Carnival and in charge of the "money" it wouldn't be a hard decision to "familyanize" (for want of a better word) the ships since booking 3 or 4 to available rooms is a profit point (and Carnivals' capacity is far above their room count).

People need to understand that booking a cruise does not guarantee them access or others limited access to the spaces on their ships, since these, like ports can be affected at any time (ie: maintenance or weather, etc).

It's silly to think that after final payment money should be refunded for these type of changes.

Carnival needs to realize that adult areas are still needed. Not all who sail them have kiddos. Nor do they want those kiddos screaming and yelling in their face all the time.

Even Disney has private adult areas on their ships.

Er, no, they don't. Carnival chose one category of cruisers (families) over all the other categories of cruisers. There are already dozens of areas on cruise ships where children can circulate freely. Carnival is telling its other cruisers (remember, the ones who actually spend money on its ships) that their opinion is not welcome. In fact, Carnival is telling them that THEY are not welcome.

I won't vote, as I'm not a consumer of this particular brand, so it wouldn't be fair to skew the results. But I would urge Carnival cruisers to object very strenuously to being told "children come first, so take a hike".

OP, I get where you are coming from and am supportive, but I haven't voted because, as stated earlier, the aft pool areas are and have been family friendly. If the question was should the POOLS be adults only, I could vote. It may seem like semantics, but it is a pretty big differentiator. I'm not willing to say the aft AREA should be adult only, because it hasn't been anyways.

On the one hand, I support keeping the aft pool (or "a" pool) as adults only so that adults can just hang out without loud kids splashing around. That's a reasonable "want" on vacation; same extends to those couple of hot tubs in the area.

On the other hand, there's sometimes some foul / lewd activity on Lido deck that may be inappropriate for kids, so I understand why parents want some other pool to go to. But if there's inappropriate stuff going on someone just has to let the staff know and it will get handled.

Or there is inclement weather and the aft pool being covered (on some ships) makes it the only choice.

Not all kids are unruly, and not all adults are well behaved.

Just trying to balance out different counterpoints. A reasonable case could be made to allow kids use in inclement weather but otherwise if main Lido pool is open, then keep aft POOL adults only. I see no need to make the surrounding area adults only though.

That I will no longer be swimming in Carnival. They don't enforce Serenity. Only adult place left is the casino & that's not always the case. Please start enforcing the rules and more adults will use the areas.

Have had the pleasure to enjoy:

Carnival Celebration 07

Carnival Victory 16

Carnival Valor 17

Why are you under the impression Carnival is telling anyone that their opinion is not welcomed?

Wouldn't it make the most sense for a company to listen to the group that generates the most revenue / profits?

The logic of your argument is faulty because you are declaring that a for profit company is making a change to appease those that do not spend money at the cost of pushing away customers who do spend money and that's something successful businesses do not do.

I did not mention "Aft Pool Area". I said "Aft Area Pools" I'm not sure how more clear it can be. Of course the whole area can't be adult only as food venues are there. Doing that would require a major overhaul. The pools were adult only up until last week. Not looking at changing things up, just restoring them to what they were a few days ago. The question is:

Going by the title of the thread, it could be a lot more clear apparently. :)

" Keep Adult Only Pool Areas Yes or No? "

That, to me, implies asking about the whole area. But you addressed that above

So if the poll was should Carnival keep adults only pools - yes or no, that's a different story. I'd vote keep the pool / hot tubs adults only except for inclement weather (covered pools).

You're reading way too much into it and that's not something that even crossed my mind when writing it. But OK. Hopefully the actual poll question makes it clearer. I am only talking about the aft pools. So you can vote to keep them adult only as that's the way it was intended to read.

Oh, come on. Even HAL won't keep the kids out of the hot tubs. The poor crew are terrified that they will receive complaints if they enforce the rules.

Face it, there are no adult options. On any line. With the notable exception of the casinos.

So you're saying they should put hot tubs in the casino.

If you've seen the Ocean Medallion video that talks about extending gaming throughout the ship, a swim-up slot machine or video gaming device would not be out of the question.

I just voted in favor of Carnival keeping the Adult Only Pool areas. I've also commented on other threads here, on a few groups on that "other" social media site, and will be contacting Carnival. Unfortunately, once Carnival makes decision, it's usually permanent and not up for negotiation. Very rarely is is a decision reversed.

It appears that Carnival is now targeting "family cruising", similar to Disney, but for a much better price. By having more families cruising vs. couples, it's more money for Carnival because it's more people overall. On John Heald's "other" social media page, he posts a lot of questions on certain topics wanting feedback. When questions about specific things are asked frequently, I'm starting take that as a sign that a possible change is about to be implemented. I did see the comment about the "men's hairy chest contest" being held at the main pool and how some parents may not want their children around adult activities such as that. John has been posting several questions within the past two days about the men's hairy chest contest. I see that as possible writing on the wall that this may soon become a thing of the past. Another question posted today was about the "Tea Time"...is this about to end as well? And many questions have been posted about the self serve ice cream. Many love it but there a lot of parents that complain about them being available (turned on) 24 hours because they don't want their children having access to it. Another possible change? Only time will tell.

On another post on the "other" social media site, someone posted that Carnival has taken away chocolates, tablecloths, lobster on formal night for cruises 5 days or shorter, etc. I agree that I wasn't happy with these changes but I can't say those changes have affected our overall cruise experience and we've continued to cruise with Carnival. However, taking away the adult only aft pools WILL have an affect on our cruises. Nothing against kids, but we have always enjoyed the adult only aft pool on our last five cruises, especially on the sea days. We have never found them underutilized and quite the opposite. They've always been full, no loungers available, but we've been able to sit on the benches along the side of the pool/edge of the pool, and actually be able to get into the pool and enjoy conversations with others. We've enjoyed the nice area to escape to to get away from the kids and their "outside voices", the splashing and jumping in the pool. So yes, this change to "family friendly" WILL have a direct affect on our overall cruise experience and is definitely a change that is pushing us away from Carnival.

Carnival is adding the waterworks to many of their ships and there are already pools on every ship that are family friendly. We aren't asking that Carnival take something away, we asking for the return of something that we've already had.
