Other than Crooners missing, the Majestic has most of the same bars as the Royal/Regal. Crown Grill Bar (formerly Wheelhouse), Bellinis, Vines, IC bar, Fountain Pool bar, Hollywood club bar, casino bar, wake view bar, and seaview bar. How many bars do aussies need??

I know, everyone seems to think we are all p....s heads:rolleyes:

No all of us "Aussies" spend all our time at bars.

Someone from another post mentioned Golden will be home ported in Melbourne, while Sydney will get the Majestic and Diamond (shame no Sapphire, was hoping to see a different ship home ported in Sydney). I guess either the Sea or Sun will be home ported in Brisbane and the other Fremantle?

That was me.....Princess Sydney told me that Diamond would come for a short time, November till February/March, some Japan itineraries were cancelled. I too would prefer Sapphire, but it is in Singapore untill at least November 28th 2018 where it returns from Europe. But hey, things could change as they do!!

The bookings for Melbourne port say Sapphire for the season but I am sure it will be Golden, as the dates it would leave LA, the Papeete bookings along with arrival in Sydney then two days to Melbourne match the entries in the port schedule.

Personally I think this is great news - having sailed on P&O Britannia in 2015

Somebody mentioned that Princess sending Majestic to Australia is in response to Royal Caribbeans Ovation of the Seas being sent to Sydney

Got me thinking - I wonder if Princess sending Majestic to Sydney is also in response to Cunard basing Queen Elizabeth in Sydney & Melbourne in early 2019 ?

I would LOVE to do a Sydney New Zealand cruise on Majestic Princess but would she be able to sail into some of the ports that the smaller ships can sail into or would she just see the bigger ports like Auckland etc...

I guess all will be revealed on the 27th

Here's a link to the brochure which was posted on the Australia / New Zealand forum. https://book.princess.com/pdf/onesource/au/AU_1819_PR_minibrochure_AUD.pdf. It looks like most of the NZ cruises will go to the Bay of Islands, Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Akaroa, Dunedin and teh Fiordland scenic cruising.

Smart of them to schedule most of the cruises to NZ. She's more suited to the cooler NZ temps as there appears to be very little outdoor sunlounger areas.

the bigger ships always miss akaroa, its too shallow to get in, unless soon they change it back to lyttleton.

Lyttleton as a cruise port again is still some way in the future from what I've read.

RCI seem to have dropped Akaroa for Ovation of the Seas itineraries but Princess has scheduled Majestic to go there.

seen that, was just going by what the captain said on the emerald in dec that akaroa harbour is not very deep, but I think they scheduale them for high tide.

You have no idea just how happy you have made me by putting the link you posted up on here.

Majestic appears to be missing Napier in the North Island, Judging by current Princess itineraries sailing to New Zealand (all be it ) on smaller ships, Is the journey between Wellington and Tauranga likely to be a sea day? I`m basing this on a similiar itinerary I nearly did a couple of years ago on Dawn Princess.

Itinerary would then be - Sydney, Sea Day, Sea Day, Fjordland National Park (Scenic Cruising), Dunedin, Akaroa, Wellington, Sea Day???, Tauranga, Auckland, Sea Day, Sea Day, Sydney.

Does Majestic Princess have single traveller cabins in the same way P&O Britannia does? Do any of the Royal class of ship have single traveller inside cabins or single balcony cabins?

Being British and a total tee-total - the lack of bars on the ship doesnt bother me at all !!

Sorry, no solo's cabin. If traveling solo, you pay for double occupancy.

You're welcome. :)

Yes, Wellington to Tauranga will be a sea day. The ship has to go around East Cape and that takes a full day. Try to get a cabin on the land side - port if going up from Fiordland, starboard if coming down from Auckland.

Note: she is doing a few one way itineraries. Sydney to Auckland followed by Auckland to Sydney. These are great if you want to also do some land travel in each country.

I was thinking the same thing too. Why would Princess Cruises build a ship specifically made for China only to bring it down to Australia?

Maybe wintertime in China is not a good time to take a cruise that does not sail to a tropical climate.

Maybe summertime in Australia is a great time to take a cruise.

Of course a current um err situation in a um err certain SEA, wouldn't have anything to do with the decision. Couldn't have, what will the Retirmeme's have to say.

I actually doubt it.

I suspect that as they've got brochures out already this was a decision taken some time ago.

When Majestic was first announced they said it would spend time in Aus, it then seemed to morph (no official statement that I heard) into Asia only.

Ahh nothing official, just the deliberate bullying and over officious posts disagreeing with the move, as if they make a sods toss to P.C.L decision.

Thanks for posting this link.

Now I want to know why none of this is on the Princess web site when you click to Find Cruises????
