Using On Board Credit for paying for Future Cruise Credit

Has anyone had difficulty in using OBC toward credit for future cruise? Two Princess reps stated it can be used toward that, but the form says it will be put on your credit card. Any experience on this request?

I have never been given the option of paying anyway other than a charge to my credit card.

Sounds like typical disconnect between phone reps and reality.

As you have noted, FCD's are charged to a credit card. It can be the card you have on file for that cruise, or, I think there is opportunity on the form to enter a different CC.

Your choice.

As far as I know it has to be charged directly to your CC and not your onboard account.

Call again and you will probably get another answer.

I believe you can use a princess gift card to purchase FCC, does anyone know if this is correct?

Yes, just before last Christmas I bought five, $100 gift cards (and got $525). In Jan. on the Diamond, I used one of the cards to make an FCD. I figured it's a good idea to use some of Princess' 'free' money to get more 'free' money  (which, of course, I give back to them).

Unfortunately you cannot use your cc to pay for a future cruise deposit. They charge your credit card instead. Years ago, they use to allow you to use your OBC, but no longer. Regardless, I always recommend taking those deposits out always.

this would be great if it was true.

those phone reps need more training. i hate calling. once in a while there is someone knowledgeable. i'd rather hear "i'm not sure, let me find out" than for them to make something up.

The FCC is the same as booking a cruise. It's charged to the corporate Princess booking department which is completely separate from your onboard spending folio. It's not considered onboard spending as you are paying a deposit for a cruise whether or not you have an actual cruise booked. That's why you can't use OBC to pay for it. You can pay with a credit, debit or gift card.

It's no different than if your final payment for an upcoming cruise is due while you're already on a cruise. You instruct Princess or your TA to pay for the cruise. You can't say, "I've got $500 in OBC on my current cruise so use that and charge the remainder to my credit card." :) An FCC is booking or paying a deposit for a cruise. The FCC even has a booking # even if you don't have a cruise booked.

To use alot of refundable OBC we had on our last cruise, I got cash out through the casino and saved $200 to pay for the FCCs when the bill comes due. A little more involved but effective.

Don't give away all your secrets. Someone from Princess is reading this.

As far as I can tell the Future Cruise Consultant onboard doesn't have the ability to handle cash, either. According to the form you don't have to use the credit card on record but must show the card you want to use to them. We normally just drop the form in the box or lately have been able to do it through the Princess app.

How can someone draw cash from your OBC account on the ship?
