slimpeccable Posted June 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Curious as to how you guys feel about the showers in the cabin - pretty gross floors? Would your recommend a pair of shower sandals or are they generally pretty clean?
RWolver672 Posted June 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2017 We've always found them to be clean and never had a problem not using shower shoes.
Tiger0613 Posted June 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2017 The bathrooms have always appeared clean, but I only go barefoot in my shower or my mother's shower. I wear shower shoes in any public shower(ship, hotel, pool, etc). It may look clean, but I have no way of knowing if the person responsible for cleaning it actually cleaned it properly. Most hotel housekeepers/stateroom stewards don't have enough time to do a thorough cleaning.
beachbum53 Posted June 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2017 We've never had a problem. The shower floor, as well as the rest of the bathroom and the cabin, has always been clean. Never felt the need to wear shower shoes.

Umbrae Noctem Posted June 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Agree with the other in this thread. Cabin bathrooms appear pretty clean, I haven't used sandals in my own cabin.
Rare sid_9169 Posted June 19, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2017 The showers are cleaned twice per day 365 days per year... Probably much cleaner than your shower at home...
riffatsea Posted June 19, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 19, 2017 We have never even thought of using sandals in the shower! Do you use them when you are in hotels on land??? We don't.
cherbear4000 Posted June 19, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 19, 2017 I am a germaphobe and would never dream of using a public shower without sandals. I have yet to wear sandals in my cabin shower. The cabins are disinfected between guests. On disembarkation day, you can see the cabin stewards thoroughly cleaning the cabins.
Havingfun2010 Posted June 19, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 19, 2017 When not in the shower, what do you wear? Sandals or enclosed sneakers with socks. If you wear sandles/flip flops, than why worry about the shower and not everyplace else?

ray98 Posted June 19, 2017 #12 Share Posted June 19, 2017 You can't live your life afraid of everything. Those showers are probably cleaner than the shower in most peoples homes.

I am pretty sure they are cleaner than ours unless is right after our semiannual cleaning. ;) That's a joke folks, we clean it every couple of months whether it needs it or not. beachbum6264 Posted June 19, 2017 #15 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Wearing shoes in the shower is one thing I have never even thought about. With all that hot water and soap on top of being cleaned daily I figure it's one of the cleanest places on the ship. But then, I'm one of those people who go barefoot just about anywhere, and have never had any foot problems.

imridingdolphins Posted June 19, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 19, 2017 As long as the floor of the shower is being disinfected between guests, you should not have to worry about athlete's foot or planter warts, which are the main things to be concerned about. If that worried, bring a can of lysol and spray it down when you get there!
calbred01 Posted June 19, 2017 #18 Share Posted June 19, 2017 I have been on numerous cruises and our shower has always looked clean. I also bring a travel size of lysol and spray the shower floor once daily before I shower, sooo......:D
Doggielover68 Posted June 19, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 19, 2017 It never crossed my mind to wear shower sandals. People walk around by the pool without shoes, have their feet on deck chairs, etc. I figure that the shower is cleaner than any of those areas. But if you are paranoid you could always just bring/wear a cheap pair of flip flops. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Port of Tampa Posted June 19, 2017 #20 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Never had an issue with the cleanliness of the shower floors. However, we bring shower shoes/flip-flops for the spa steam rooms. Cheers and happy cruising.

Badfinger Posted June 19, 2017 #24 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Curious as to how you guys feel about the showers in the cabin - pretty gross floors? Would your recommend a pair of shower sandals or are they generally pretty clean? My wife refuses to go barefoot anywhere on a ship. And since I bring my Crocs along for Spa use, I wear them in the shower and in the cabin as well. But then I always shower in those large spa showers.
