Amex-WLCL Offer Returns

Looks like this offer is good for bookings made after 7/15/17, and I booked the Horizon way before that date.

Looks like I'll need to book another Carnival or Princess cruise before Dec.31 to use this offer a 2nd time?

If you can make a $500 payment on your current reservation during the time frame the offer is open that should be sufficient

On my August statement, this offer popped up on my AMEX card, I accepted. I had already booked an October cruise on July 24, inside the booking window stated within the offer. I had paid for the cruise with my AMEX. Will AMEX retroactively apply the credit statement in September, will I have to tell them or does it apply?

You have to add the offer to the card BEFORE applying payment. It doesn't matter actually when the cruise was booked as you can still use it if you booked previously as long as the offer was added and patent was applied after the start date and before the end date.

You may be able to get them to apply it retroactively, but it's not guaranteed.

Ugh!!! If someone has a link to the newest promotion (I have searched all of AMEX), that would be great.

The offer has been available for over a month so it's not really that new. Regardless, here's the link (I think it was also posted earlier in this thread):

http://www.americanexpress.com/wlcl

You'll be taken to an Amex login page to login to your account and add the offer to your card.

I tried this on last year's offer. I had already paid some. I called my Carnival rep and explained the offer. She credited my account and then immediately recharged it indicating she could flag it customer wanted to use a different credit card. I got the $100 credit on my AMX, but then days later, the $500 credit came through from carnival on my AMX statement and then a $100 credit. So AMX saw it was an in and and out. I ended up making another payment on the cruise to get that offer. So I doubt AMX will let you get this. The promotion is to get people to book new cruises, even though payments on existing do work. Excuse to book another one!

I had to make final payment on an October cruise the second week of July, and as all of you know the co-branded cards could not enrolled in this offer until a few days ago. I made a $500 payment using my wife's Hilton Honors AMEX anyway, hoping that if the wlcl link ever came alive again I could get them to honor it retroactively. That became a possibility yesterday so have now given it the ole college try.

I was spectacularly unsuccessful. Went through Customer Service, Technical Assistance, and then a Supervisor in Offers Administration who claimed to check with the merchant (although she only put me on hold for about 15 seconds, so I'm not sure how much "checking" was really done).

All of them said their hands were tied because a prime condition of the offer was that the card had to be enrolled before the purchase was made. I argued that the AMEX system prevented me from enrolling the card in the offer at the time I had to make the payment to Carnival and I even called to ask for assistance at the time. They could see that the offer was added to the card yesterday and that the purchase was made 07/07. They said that was too great a time lag, that they possibly could make the adjustment if it had been a day or 2 gap, but more than a month was far too much of a gap.

The last person I talked to said she could and would apply a $30 credit as a goodwill gesture, but could not apply the $100 credit.

$30 is better than nothing I suppose.

Anyone had any issues w/ the credit not being applied? I've used it twice w/ 2 cards the offer was added on. Although the service reps said both purchases are qualified under the program ... NEITHER credit has been applied.

1 charge was 1 month ago and the 2nd was 1 week ago. They advised that it can take as long as "60 days AFTER the promotion program ends" ... that was NOT the case last go round. We received the credits w/in a day of the purchase.

I haven't used it this time but before I got the confirmation fairly shortly after using it and the credit within a day. Did you make sure it was for a payment and not Shore Excursions or Fun Shop purchases? And each charge was $500 or more?

So I went to the Amex wick website and added offer.

Not meaning to sound stupid but how do I use it now?

Do I log into my carnival account and pay my balance using my Amex card? Or do I have to go through a link on my Amex account?

I just when to my Carnival account and made a $500 payment with my AmEx card that I had added the offer too

Same here on 3 different cards the last go round. I did a chat yesterday afternoon and they confirmed it WAS a qualifying reservation charge for $500, but the credit still hasn't gone through. 1 week ago today the charge posted.

Chat still advising that it can take up to 90 days after the promotion ends.

WOW! That is really strange. I added it to our 2 cards on August 15. I made a payment of $500 on each of the cards on the 15th for our cruise booked before the promotion began. My husbands charge posted on the 15th and the credit on the 16th. My charge posted on the 16th and the credit on the 17th. I think the reason mine was later was because I waited to make my payment until later in the day while my husband's payment was made in the afternoon.

2nd time I used this offer. I applied it to a cruise on the Horizon that I booked prior to 7/15/17. About 3 minutes after I made the payment I got the following;

We appreciate you using your Amex Offer at CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE RSVR. Look out for a $100.00 statement credit, which will automatically be applied to your statement if your purchase meets the offer terms.

So between AARP and Verizon Wireless gift cards, this AMEX offer, and 2 price drops, we're saving over $600 from the original fare

Maybe I'll use it one more time if the" purchase meets the offer terms" - more to be revealed.....

Is this only for platinum card holders? I can't find anything about this on my Amex site

No. I don't have a Platinum card. I have a Hilton Honors card. I was able to add the offer from the link provided earlier in this thread. And have already received by credits for my card and my husband's card.

When I log in a have a snapshot of my account. A little further down it shows "Recent Transactions", and below that is "Amex offers & Benefits".

As mentioned in post #194, last paragraph, that's how you see if the offer is currently available on your Amex card. If it is not, use the web site link posted above - it will prompt you to login to your Amex account and it will make the offer available to that card.

Ok found it. But it doesn't mention Royal Caribbean as included nor as excluded!

Ahhh..... I see - I didn't know you were expecting to use this for RCI (we're on the CC Carnival forum). This Amex offer was only for five of the cruise lines under the World's Leading Cruise Lines umbrella (Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Cunard and Seabourn).

I checked my AMEX acct just now and the $100 credit is showing. Thanks to those on this thread who convinced me to try it.

Maybe I'll do it again next month, and save my Verizon/AARP Carnival gift cards for casino play. Thanks again!
