mitz18 Posted September 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 2, 2017 G'Afternoon - does Aqua class have access to any concierge service? Thanks in advance
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 2, 2017 All passengers have access to a concierge. There is not a dedicated Aqua Class Concierge, if that is what you are looking for.
CaroleSS Posted September 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2017 Aqua class gets the same amenities as Concierge class minus the boarding day lunch in the MDR. Aqua class adds certain amenities in addition to what is offered by CC. Do you have a specific question about amenities? I think your question gets confusing when you said "concierge" as that is either a class of cabins or a person who provides a service.
2theship Posted September 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2017 It's my impression that the concept of a "concierge" for Concierge Class is more in theory than in practice. I've never heard of anyone actually interacting with someone acting as a concierge.
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2017 On S Class ships where the concierge's desk is on the library you see a number of passengers at the desk throughout the day.
Duanerice1 Posted September 3, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Yes you have access. Never knew what they did though. About 10 Celebrity cruises and never had a need to visit them. Actually curious as to what service they provide that I can't easily do myself. The key word there is "easily" - lol
warmwinds Posted September 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2017 On one cruise I did go up to that Concierge desk and ask what they did - they told me they book (maybe among other things) those super expensive one-on-one luxury shore excursions. Rare cruisestitch Posted September 3, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2017 That's a different person. Here are a few things I know the concierge does: If an airline has lost your luggage, the concierge leads the effort to track it down and get it to you. If there's a medical evacuation, the concierge coordinates the shoreside arrangements, gets your luggage packed and off the ship for you, helps find accommodation for your loved one who accompanies you. If you want dinner reservations at a restaurant on an overnight on shore, see the concierge. Personal knowledge of all three.
varoo Posted September 3, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) Yes you have access. Never knew what they did though. About 10 Celebrity cruises and never had a need to visit them. Actually curious as to what service they provide that I can't easily do myself. The key word there is "easily" - lol They perform essentially the same type of services as a hotel concierge on land. Most of the time they can give you information and advice on things to do and see at the various ports, and book arrangements for you. They can tell you where to find a medical specialist, dentist, hospital, pharmacy, special restaurant or store or service, any place of interest, and the best way to get there. They also handle out-of-the-ordinary situations that would require the passengers to put in extra time and effort if we were to attempt to do them ourselves, and we would not be able to handle them nearly as efficiently as the concierge can. It is so much easier to let them take care of situations that involve using connections and knowledge that they have and we do not. As you say, "easily" is the key word. When it is something we know we can easily do ourselves, then we don't bother the concierge about it. Just one example, in our case, was having the concierge handle the arrangements for a tight transfer from one cruise ship to another. We arrived at the second ship after the check-in cut-off time and normally would have been denied boarding if we had just shown up so late on our own. But because the concierge had made the arrangements for us and contacted the second ship in advance, they were expecting us, had us on the manifest and were prepared for our late arrival, waiting to meet us at the entrance to the cruise terminal, so the transition went very smoothly. On most of our cruises, we have not needed the services of the concierge at all, but whenever we have needed them, they have been extremely helpful. Rare Miaminice Posted September 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Yes, AQ guest have access to the concierge - just as anyone on board. The name "Concierge Class" is clever but misleading. There is no concierge just for CC, the concierge is there for all categories.

Blazerboy Posted September 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 3, 2017 No but Aqua Class has Blu for breakfast and dinner the entire rest of the cruise! And, that, my friend, is the best reason for AQ! (Others say the special multi port shower is, but I've found that disconcerting...and ALARMING if I'm not paying attention! ;) )

However, not everyone is aware of this including some ship personnel. On last year's spring TA on the Reflection I asked at the guest relations desk if they had any information about a museum at one of the ports and was told the concierge has that information but it is not available to you because you are in Aqua class and the concierge is only for those in Concierge Class. This same person also told me the ship had no information at all about Tenerife because the ship had never been to Tenerife. Unbelievable, but true. Luvcrusn Posted September 4, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 4, 2017 We have interacted with the concierge several times. The concierge has checked us in for our return flights and printed out our boarding pass on cruises where the luggage valet program was not available. We have often discussed various ports with the concierge and have gotten some wonderful advice and recommendations about places to visit that were not overcrowded and very much worth seeing. We have also gotten advice about how to get around a port along with detailed maps, suggested transportation and cost parameters.
