Getting to Gold status.....

Does anyone know when Gold status is attained ? It seems as we board our Oct 2018 cruise we would be starting our 25th day of cruising. Does this make us Gold upon boarding or do we have to complete the cruise first?

When boarding. You are Gold from the first day of the cruise.

Gold happens on the cruise in which you sail your 25th day, so yes, you should be gold the day you embark, and get the benefits (not that many but what the heck!).

If you have enough days to become gold any day on the cruise, including the last, you will be gold when you board. EM

We are gold....have been forever, but I don't remember anything special because of it.

You get a giant bottle of water in the cabin , a year specific lapel pin and a free drink coupon for the last day of the cruise.

I am about to turn gold, so that sounds like a good thing. How, Joebucks, do you know this to be the case? Also, what benefits do you anticipate? Right now I am looking forward to my 1 liter of water, a gold plated pin, and a free drink on the last night of the cruise. What else could there be beyond these bountiful perks?

Carnival says its up to their discretion, but for us, each time we were going up a level 'during' a cruise, we started that cruise at the higher level!

I have 20 days right now, and I'm booked on a 7-day in May. My boarding pass for the May cruise already shows me Gold even though I won't hit 25 days until the 5th day of the cruise.

This is something that Carnival unequivocally does BETTER than Royal. On Royal, you do not get your next-tier status until after the qualifying cruise is completed. :o

Log into Carnival's site. Click on Manage My Cruise. Then click on VIFP Club. That gives a list of what is available in each category.
