Rare kazu Posted November 29, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2017 It can be rocky, smooth or plain rough. E'dam will handle whatever it faces but there is only so much that can be done if there are rough seas ;)
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 29, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Do expect rough seas the first couple of days out of San Diego and the last 2 going back to SD. We did have rough seas around Lahaina. Other than that port the seas were calm. Others may report otherwise.
DeeniEncinitas Posted November 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Both Jacqui and KK are correct!!! We always will take Dramamine for a couple of days just incase of ruff seas. It is a 50/50 Chance the first 2’days. We did The Oosterdam and the Zaandam from San Diego and both times we had ruff seas. Who knows how things will be. Will be on The Eurodam doing round trip from San Diego doing Hawaii and Tahiti mid ship balcony deck 7. Denise:)
Sea girl 23 Posted November 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Kinda related but I found that on the Eurodam(ad it may have had to do with where we were) I could only slightly feel movement-in fact it lulled me to sleep.Same with Westerdam(but I was on the main deck close to the main showroom.) CruiserBruce Posted November 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Was just on the Eurodam last month in the Pacific. She did fine, no different than other modern ships we have ridden on. You are on a ship at sea. The sea moves, thus the ship will move. No mystery.
catl331 Posted November 29, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Three years ago we went through the tail end of a Cat 1 hurricane on the Eurodam, with about 10>12 foot waves. Of our group of four only one was really bothered by it, and it seemed like most of the passengers were not very affected.
rkacruiser Posted November 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2017 I have sailed on Eurodam between Norway and Iceland with Captain de Vries trying to skirt a major low pressure system in our path. The Southern edge of it could not be avoided and we encountered high winds and rough seas. Eurodam handled it well, I thought. Yes, the "white bags" in the elevator foyers were visible and the Front Office's desk had a bowl of Green Apples. But, at such times, one knows that one has not booked a land-locked resort!
