Questions Regarding MSC Seaside

NEW QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS

1. When is the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle being scheduled?

2. Anyone done any of the arts and crafts in the Ipanema restaurant able to report back on what's on offer? Or was that only on the TA?

3. Are the doors and walls metal for magnet usage in all cabins?

Lots of variation reported here. Some have said doors metal on inside only no decoration on outside permitted but then many report decorating their outside cabin doors. Some have said only doors are metal not walls but then many others have said yes walls are metal. From watching videos and looking at pictures my best guess is the walls are metal but may be so covered by wood and other decor as to be unusable with magnets. The insides and oceanviews look to even have metal ceilings lower in the ship.

4. What is stocked in the minibar?

So far I've only seen

of what is stocked in minibars in the YC on Preziosa.

5. What about the private elevator access to the spa from the YC which has been advertised extensively? I've read it isn't available on the Seaside.

Post #236 of this thread reports no there is not one on Seaside.

6. Any information about getting fresh flowers in your room? Several have been interested.

7. What about the movies in the cabins and on movie nights?

So far reported there are movies on demand for $8 in the rooms and they are numerous. Big screen movies have been mostly holiday fare with a few newer movies thrown in.

8. Can we get a schedule for the younger kids care program from one of the Caribbean sailings?

Thank you seaweeyin for posting these. I have rotated them to make them easier to read.

and

Welp great looks like imgur dot com is not allowed as an image hosting device for CC. If someone wants to download the above images and share them posted somewhere allowed by CC I will replace with links next time. Sorry. :( Or they can be viewed where seaweeyin has very kindly posted them in post #270 above just without being turned for easier viewing.

9. Are they doing the "Happy Dinner" program where they pick up kids when they've finished their meal in the main dining room with their parents and let the parents finish up while the kids go play in the Kid's Club?

Has been reported on several threads you drop your kids off prior to dinner and the staff takes them to the buffet to get plates of food. They eat in the kid's club and can stay until it closes around 10:30 or 11 PM.

11. Can the TV's in the rooms be moved, extended, or swiveled for ease of watching throughout the room?

The TVs swivel only.

12. What is the table minimum in the Casino? Is it $5?

13. Can excursions be booked from the in room TV?

MSC for me app reportedly works great for booking things. Conflicting reports as to whether it works without purchase of WiFi package so I don't know if this is an issue with certain phones or with certain people's abilities with their phones or what.

14. Dailies, Dailies, DAILIES, DAILIES? Can someone please post up the Dailies from their Caribbean cruise?

I have put up a separate thread requesting Dailies, MDR menus, and YC menus since these seem to be commonly requested everywhere I find threads about the Seaside.

Here are minis from last and this week, plus juniors from this week, turned properly. :)f78423ce2e5f5f18d42dcc06e5919d72.jpgf09bb185b68746735a6b05776dda4093.jpg25bca7e17b34846719f470d4a3d6ec36.jpg

UPDATED 12/30/17 4:27 PM:

Questions and Answers so far:

1. Do you board on deck 5 where it says "Seaside Reception" by the Atrium bar?

Answer: Boarding has been reported to be on Deck 4

2. I've read a lot about musical offerings on the ship including Latin, Opera, and such. Are these all being held in the Metropolitan Theater? If not what other locations should we be watching out for on our cruise?

Answer: The theater is slated to hold 1 or 2 different shows each night with at least 2 time slots for each show to give everyone a chance to see them per Ashley@CC's report. On videos from the ship I've seen musical acts in the Haven Lounge, the stage over the Atrium Bar, a DJ in the Garage Disco, and what appears to be trivia type activities in several different bars on various days at various times in the Dailies Ashley posted. Dance Lessons happen in the Haven Lounge and there seemed to be line dancing lessons going on in the Disco in one of the videos. There are also reports of performances in other bars and venues and I've seen video of dance parties at the main pool up top as well.

3. How were the lines for the zip line and water slides?

Answer: Again, Ashley@CC has kindly offered up the following: The water slides weren't open during the first week when I was on because it was too cold, and I suspect they were still testing things out. Only one of the ship's two ziplines was open, and only for two of the seven days I was there (also due to weather). There were four or five people ahead of me in line. I might have waited 10-15 minutes. I'm guessing the lines might be a little longer when the ship reaches warmer weather.

4. What was the first thing you did when you got on the ship?

Answers so far: Only Ashley@ CC has answered so far:

The first thing I did was go to my cabin to drop my bags.

5. How about some pictures of the menus from the MDR?

Ashley from CC has kindly posted this and other images above just scroll back to Post 62. Also found another example of an MDR menu for a formal Gala night here.

6. Confirmation the bar food in the Sports Bar is included at no extra charge? Additionally could we get a picture of the food menu?

Answer: This thread has bar menus including Sports Bar. Reports from the first cruise out of Miami is only the $4.75 for 6 / 9.75 for 12 wings are offered as far as food in the sports bar.

7. What are the height or age requirements for the slides?

Answer: Ashley@CC says for the Adventure Trail, it's 32 inches/80 cm.

8. Could we see the non-alcoholic and coffee beverage menus, please? Also could we get confirmation as to where the ice cream and coffee drinks included on the drink plans are available?

Answer: So far all I have definite is some of the menus on this thread have non-alocholic and coffee drinks. More in posts #66 and #67 of this thread from Ashley@CC.According to Ashley's posted menus some coffee drinks are served in the Atrium bar.

Ashley also reports in post #120: Venchi gelato is included in the beverage packages. Venchi coffee, up to a value of $7.50, is included in the classic drink package. The premium package includes all Venchi coffee drinks. Retails items are not included in the beverage packages.

9. Please post links to some pictures of the themed events and / or a list of themed events currently being held on the Seaside. Some of us like to bring costumes.

Answer: No photos but Ashley@CC reports there were Gatsby- and 60s/70s-themed parties while onboard. Karim Corporate Entertainments Manager MSC Crociere mentions White Party, Tropical party, Caribbean nights and others in this video he posted to Facebook. I've also seen Great Gatsby party, White Party, and Disco Party in the Disco bar mentioned in reviews from the Caribbean.

10. Is there a cigar bar? If not where is smoking allowed?

Courtesy of Ashley at CC : Smoking is allowed only on the starboard side of the South Beach Pool area and some other areas onboard. Someone elsewhere reported there's a smoking area up on Deck 19. Possibly also in a section of the Casino or it may be No Smoking Allowed not definite yet. THE CABINS and any public areas not specifically designated as smoking allowed are all very definitely NO SMOKING.

11. Are there any drink coupons available on board such as the 18 for $89?

Answer: Spidybabe reports calling and asking an MSC CS and being told no. Later reports say no more drink coupons.

12. What restaurants are included for the Black card dinners?

Answer reported my Ashley at CC in post #120 Black card members are entitled to a complimentary specialty restaurant “Tasting Menu” dinner for 2 once during the cruise (beverages excluded). Offer is per stateroom. The tasting menus we refer to are the same as the dining experience menus. Guests can choose from any restaurant on board.

13. How about menus for the specialty restaurants?

Answer: Found this thread. Ashley@CC reports she has added the Bistrot La Boheme and she has also been kind enough to answer other questions as well.

Butcher's Cut and Ocean Cay and Chef Roy's Teppanyaki and Sushi and also Bistrot La Boheme and drinks menu Courtesy of Ashley@CC

Dining section of Ashley's review

14. How much are the YC cabanas topside?

Answer: This thread reports $149 on sea days and $99 on port days.

15. Is the Specialty Restaurant Trio available on board and how much?

Answer: jmele999 had this to report:

They told me about the $69 pp trio special which uses the set menu shown in links above reportedly. Ocean cay is $40 pp which includes a 25% discount. There is a $75 pp Chef’s table at Butcher’s cut.

16. Can we get details regarding under-3s baby care on Seaside? Is there evening care available?

Answer: Link provided by Mycykfamilytime - More extensive information on kids activities and care provided by Ashley@CC in Post # 68 of this thread. Updated for the Caribbean here and here.

17. Do they offer a package deal on the Seaside for the Bowling , simulator , and 4 D movies, where you pay a fee (it was $85 on the Divina ) per cabin for unlimited use of these attractions ?

Answer: Reports now say there is a package deal in MSC's app. This thread has posted pictures of prices starting with spend $25 and get $30 worth. Billiards starts at $10 and bowling at $25. Pictures are a bit small or my monitor is because I couldn't quite read what you get for those rates.

18. What are the height or age requirements for the ziplines?

Answer:

Seaside Ziplines per MSC:

Height Restriction: Minimum 52in/130cm

Weight Minimum: 75lbs/35kg

Weight Maximum: 290lbs/130kg

More to be found here. Assuming you can somehow enlarge it enough to read it, anyways. :)

19. What about the comedy club? Tells us something about the acts and if you enjoyed them.

Answer: It's improv style and I've heard there are several shows a night. ~ Proseccoandsun Many news reports saying North American comedy troupe BeerProv, known for creating unscripted sketches based on audience suggestions, will perform six nights a week for 45 minutes in the Metropolitan Theatre.

20. Do we need to book our seats for the shows in the Metropolitan Theater or can we just show up provided we don't mind where we sit? I've read the shows are amazing and won awards so we're really hopeful we'll get to see all of them.

Answer: Ashley@CC has kindly replied stating they just ask that you book a time but don't reserve specific seats in order to make sure to have enough seats for everyone. They scan your card for the reservation up until 5 minutes before show time when they open any seats not yet claimed to those waiting.

21. The all inclusive drink plans list fruit drinks, milkshakes, energy drinks, ice cream, coffee drinks, premium tea, hot chocolate, and non-alcoholic cocktails. Other than the non-alcoholic cocktails which are listed on pretty much all the bar menus I've seen and the coffee drinks, fruit juice, and energy drinks I spied on the Atrium bar menu, where are these items found on Seaside? Especially interested in the ice cream and milkshakes.

From Ashley at CC: Ice cream and milkshakes can be found at either Venchi location or at the Miami Beach Bar and Miramar Bar. I believe Miramar is reserved for Aurea or those who buy passes if offered to the Aurea deck. As for coffee, tea and hot chocolate, those can be found at nearly every bar onboard, as well as both Venchi locations.

22. Can you go to the Bistrot La Boheme and just order say a dessert to share and drinks on your all inclusive plan?

From Ashley at CC: Yes! Bistrot La Boheme's desserts are amazing. Because it's a la carte, it's possible to just go there for dessert.

23. Anyone ever taken one of those golf umbrellas or sun shades that clip on your chair or lounger on an MSC cruise ship and used it at one of the pools?

No takers yet. Hopefully we will find MSC has something in mind already for a bit of shade in the pool areas that isn't going to be revealed until the ship is fully settled in Miami.

24. How much are the RFID wrist band substitutes for cruise cards?

$15 each unless you are in one of the groups which receive them as included. Reportedly kids enrolled in the kid's club, YC and Aurea guests all receive them at no extra charge. The bands open your cabin door, but to turn on the lights in your cabin you will need your card. Reports from MSC are a child finder for younger kids will soon be released which utilizes the wrist bands to locate kids in public areas of the ship.

25. Are hair dryers provided and do they work?

There is supposed to be a hair dryer in each cabin mounted in the drawer which Ashley has helpfully supplied a picture of. It appears to be the same dryer seen in several other ships and probably works approximately the same which is to say not as well as your favorite dryer with your favorite settings but well enough in the short term. I have read one review where the poster said their hair dryer was missing in their cabin.

26. What about towels?

They have kiosks by the pool where you exchange for towels same as most other ships and your room steward takes care of towels in your cabin as is usual. No reports as to how towels for shore days are handled but will go out on a limb and suggest at worst you can grab one at the towel kiosk by the pool and just return it after you get back on the ship.

27. What about the casino?

There is no craps table. There is at least one roulette wheel. Reportedly there are prizes such as on board credits and discounts on future cruises for points. Some reports say parts of the casino allow smoking. Have not seen any poker tables or games reported anywhere as yet. No table minimums reported yet but I'd be shocked if there weren't $5 minimum tables available at least at some hours.

28. What about the movies?

Many available for $8 each on demand in your cabin on the TV. Other than holiday movies only Spiderman Homecoming has been reported on the big screen. Showings at 8:30 and 11 pm

Some other bits and bobs from Seaside's published review:

" Note that the ship has neither an internet cafe nor a printer for passenger use. There are also no self-service laundry facilities, but washing and pressing services are available for a per-item fee"

And some special information to note: Cabin lights must be turned on with a keycard. Be warned: You can't cheat the system on this one; it won't recognize business cards, credit cards or any of the other workarounds cruisers often like to use. Outlets include both 110-volt American and 220-volt European ones. There's also at least one USB outlet near the beds in each stateroom. Buttons near the door tell your room steward if you'd like your room made up or if you'd rather not be disturbed.

Here is a picture of a bulletin showing the cost of passes for the thermal spa. $60 for one or $90 for two for a one day pass or $340 for one and $510 for two for the week. You also can receive access by purchasing in advance or with the purchase of certain spa services in advance for less.

Special thanks goes out to Ashley for posting TA dailies, MDR menus, and other tid bits to our thread! Thank you!

Please post your questions and any answers you have!

If posting an answer please cite your source. Are you on the ship or found it on a post from someone who was? Did you get it from a phone call to MSC CS line months ago?

Thanks!

Read a thread here on CC where they said a lot of folks were getting fed up in the YC due to long wait times for food which arrives cold and improperly cooked. Don't know how prevalent that has been but the poster said they saw at least one table just get up and leave after waiting 15 minutes for food and ended up following after their food finally arrived cold and improperly cooked. Hopefully some others will weigh in as maybe that is something they're working on improving.

There are a few professional complainers who seem to be posting #FakeNews. In one thread, many other guests were challenging the other guest on their antics. I tend to ignore ignorance. :o

Lots of scans of the Dailies, MDR menus, Room Service Menu and more found on that thread also generously posted by Seaweeyin.

Yes, those pictures are excellent. In particular, the post linked below has a dining schedule which shows that the deck 8 buffet functions as MDR overflow at dinner and apparently the only buffet option for dinner is the pizzaria portion of the deck 16 buffet (which would mean if you want something other than pizza, you have to do a sit-down dinner). I don't see that being a popular decision since there are many people who prefer not to have a long sit-down dinner and like eat at the buffet (although I am not one of them).

MisterBill99 ...seems that the whole Biscayne Bay Buffet and Pizza is open for dinner from 6:30 - 9:30, not just the Pizzaria - look under "Dinner" below MyChoice Dining

Good point, I missed that. However, that seems a bit late for some people who want to have an early dinner and then do other stuff. Maybe it's open for families before that? But it would have to be listed somewhere.

NEW QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS

and some answers, too!

1. When is the Cruise Critic Meet and Mingle being scheduled?

Thanks Seaweeyin!

Also please be aware they are requiring closed toed shoes for the younger kids club.

9. Are they doing the "Happy Dinner" program where they pick up kids when they've finished their meal in the main dining room with their parents and let the parents finish up while the kids go play in the Kid's Club?

14. Dailies, Dailies, DAILIES, DAILIES? Can someone please post up the Dailies from their Caribbean cruise?

Separate thread posted here looking for menus and dailies already has a number of postings thanks to the generousity of Seaweeyin. Please be sure to thank Seaweeyin!

15. Any ideas on pool hours and if any hot tubs are 24 hours?

16. Weight restrictions on waterslides?age?height?

For Adventure Trail it is 32 inches minimum per Ashely @ CC. Other reports state minimum 75 pounds max 290 pounds for the slides but the only reliable report with pictures of the MSC Guidelines I have seen showed those as the weights for the zipline. The only other information I have re: size guide is they require 47 inches on Divina slides. Some reported the interactive slide was a fee but I have since read several reviews stating free but must sign waiver for it and all orther slides and zip lines.

17. Shuffleboard any where?

Detailed video of the Casino

.

Excellent, detailed review of the 12/23-12/30 2017 Christmas Cruise here. Thank you, kpadalik for the review! Please note the report that traffic is an issue when there are many ships in port loading and unloading. Be aware looking at the Crew Center schedule for the Miami Cruise Port it looks like there will be seven ships in port every time MSC Seaside docks there for at least most of 2018. Anyone know is there any sort of public transport or shuttle from the airport? :)

Kids Club and Activities Informative Videos:

The MSC employee giving the tour states there is no extra charge for anything in the kid's club which will be great news for parents. MSC has also posted up an advertising video about the kid's club and children's water are
.

is a video of the water park in actual use.

I've seen some asking what special events they had for kids over the Christmas cruise because they might like to book for next year.

Looks like just a picture opportunity and a lovely gift for the kids.

Breakfast in the Buffet:

is a video of breakfast in the buffet. Love the hand washing sinks. Guy isn't really the best camera man probably because he's having to keep track of a couple of active kids while recording, but still interesting. I appreciate that he tried. :)

Found another Seaside breakfast buffet video for the Marketplace Buffet

. He gives descriptions of many of the offerings which is wonderfully helpful. :)

Looks like lots of choices and those jam dispensers look like a wonderful idea.

is video from the same guy for the Deck 16 buffet at I think lunch. I'm hungry just watching! :D He also did
. Has anyone got prices for the boxed chocolates or the by the each chocolate bar? That penguin is hilariously adorable. :)

Some had questioned whether there is Texas Hold'em or other poker games in the casino. According to this review from kapadalik: "Husband played Ultimate Texas Hold Em and did well. He also played Black Jack. He took advantageof the Happy Hour special they offered. On Sea Days from 11a-1pm, it was halfprice bets on Texas Hold Em and Black Jack. I played Video Poker andslots."

I tend to think at this point it is more a case of uneven service due to growing pains. In a few weeks it'll all be sorted.

Does anyone have balcony pics from a center grand suite? 10001, 130001 for example? Very curious to see what it looks like. Thanks. Also do you have pics of the extra bed? It’s 1 bedroom and sleeps 5 but haven’t seen pics of the other bed. Thanks a lot.

Could anyone provide an example of what the Biscayne Buffet offers for dinner? We don't like the long drawn out process of the MDR and just eat in the buffet most nights but I don't want to be stuck eating pizza and burgers every night for dinner.

Pizza, burgers, 2-3 sandwiches -- I've seen turkey and cheese, chicken salad wraps, roast beef, salami and cheese, tuna salad, some hot foods -- we've only done dinner buffet once and that night had a lamb curry, three different vegetable curries, rice, chicken... Indian theme, obviously. Also antipasto meats and cheeses, breads, fruit, a small salad bar, and 5-6 pastries/desserts.

That's quite a let down compared to other lines where you can get dishes similar to what's on the MDR menu for the night! I guess if you like Indian food it's great. Is this similar to what they do on Divina?

What does it cost to do the bowling and F1 car. Any size requirements for F1 car?

I have yet to see any size requirements for the F1 car.

Bowling is $25 for a half hour, $45 for an hour, and $2 per person for shoe rentals.

The 10 different 10 minute 5D interactive movies are $10 for adults and $8 for kids. Not the F1 car but the pricing will be similar for it if not the same.

There's a sort of a fun pass offered where you spend $25 and get $30 and I think it said $75 or $80 gets you $100.

I too am interested in the TVs. I noticed in every stateroom picture the TV is across from the sofa. Can it be moved/extended so you can watch it from the bed? Every other cruise we've been on the TV was at the foot of the bed. Hubby is not too happy with the Seaside TV set up. Thanks for any help.

Given the TV is setup further away from the bed, I wonder if someone can post picture or comment on how far the TV can be pulled out and also the swivel angle. So we can figure out if it still provide a good viewing angle from bed? Given also that there is no sofa couch in the inside cabins too, that means will be to sit or lie on bed to view.

I had so little time to watch TV that I only turned it on to see which channels were offered. I didn't check to see if it extends from the wall, but when I did have it on, I was sitting on the bed, and I had no trouble seeing the screen.
