govanguy Posted January 11, 2018 #51 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I’m delighted the skills of the shipyards in Belfast have been recognised with this refit being completed there. I find the references to events over 100 years ago to be extremely unhelpful. Well done Belfast, the only other place could have been the Clyde ...... Nothing left on the Clyde other than Fergusson in Port Glasgow who build ferries and British Aerospace who depend on Royal Nay contracts. Most of the skills have died off. nokewood20 Posted January 18, 2018 #54 Share Posted January 18, 2018 We were also booked on inaugural cruise from Barcelona 3rd August. Now getting the 13 day cruise Southampton to Barcelona ( 13 nights on board) for same price , booked flights repaid and $1000 OBC. Happy with that. Cowboy Ranger Posted January 19, 2018 #57 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Absolutely a bizarre move. I'm not sure why they would even think of this? There is now an opportunity for Spirits Bar to become a proper relaxing bar and music venue. Azamara should rethink this strange plan, if true. On my TA website are the alleged deck plans for the Pursuit. Deck 4 is shown as unchanged. Deck 5 changes are multiple: 1. Casino tables gone and the entire area surrounding the Spirits bar is now designated "Spirits". The photoshop is in the same spot. 2. The on board shop has been enlarged and taken over most of the area where the Mosaic was, and the Mosaic coffee bar has been moved from the port side to the starboard side taking over the area where the art desk is currently located on the sister ships. If factual, Mosaic seating space is lost to the shop. A small area where the Mosaic coffee machine was is unnamed, perhaps they will put the art desk, or something else sales oriented, there. If all these changes are factual, I regret the decision to expand the shop at the expense of the Mosaic seating. The remainder of the ship deck plans appear to be unchanged. excitedofharpenden Posted January 19, 2018 #58 Share Posted January 19, 2018 The current ship as Adonia had the shops extended and I heard Azamara felt it wasn't worth knocking down the walls to bring it back to what is now on the other ships, so they decided to leave as is and I guess make more use of the area in Spirits without the gaming tables. Will wait and see! Phil
Cowboy Ranger Posted January 19, 2018 #59 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Taking out an interior wall is a pretty small job so I sense an on board sales opportunity was the possible motive. Personally I wish quiet seating opportunities were not reduced. I have no interest in sitting in a bar and it's a longish way to the Mosaic from the library. Will be trying it out in September and see. Sent from my ONE A2005 using Forums mobile app
Adam Coulter Posted January 20, 2018 #60 Share Posted January 20, 2018 This was published in Cruise Industry News... Azamara Pursuit will launch into service on a Norwegian fjord sailing this summer after a refit at Harland & Wolff shipyard, according to an announcement. The refit will be fully managed by MJM Group, a marine interior outfitting company. Azamara will take delivery of the ship this March in the Caribbean, where it wrap up its service life as the P&O Adonia. The vessel will then reposition to Belfast for a four-month refit period under the guidance of MJM, where it will become the Azamara Pursuit, the third ship in the company's small-ship fleet. “This is the first time any company within Royal Caribbean Cruises has used a UK shipyard for refit works of this scale. We are delighted to come to Northern Ireland with Azamara Pursuit,” commented Larry Pimental, president and CEO of Azamara Club Cruises. Lookyboy Posted January 20, 2018 #61 Share Posted January 20, 2018 I think the whole acquisition and refitting of Azamara Pursuit is simply very exciting and we feel honoured to be able to sail on the inaugural voyage with so many of our wonderful Azamara friends and family. About 188 sleeps! Can't wait!

Lottie A Posted January 21, 2018 #63 Share Posted January 21, 2018 hmmm. no gaming tables in favour of a larger shop. Is there to be no casino at all then? Apparently there will be some slot machines but no casino tables. Also Mosaic cafe will be smaller because of the enlarged shops on Adonia. I have sailed on Adonia in the past and from what I can remember of the layout, there won't be much room there for a proper cafe. Seats are already difficult to find at busy times on Quest and Journey's larger Mosaic cafe, so this is not ideal for Pursuit.

Lottie, it would seem sensible to me as they are keeping the current Adonia layout to use the bar area in Spirits as the coffee serving area. They’ll have more space for seating there without the gaming tables. It just means that if you want to sit and have refreshments in the area currently Mosaic they will have to be brought through to you and not ideal for the servers. Phil Yes, that seems very sensible to me too Phil. Spirits Bar is very much underused during the day, except during trivia time. I would miss Mosaic being where it should be though. I think it really is "the heart"of the Azamara ships, but your suggestion is the practical solution.

Spirits is very underused during the day and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. A bit more comfy seating without those big leather chairs without arms which I don’t think are very comfortable and take up a lot of space. I know I can ask for a coffee to be brought to Spirits but I hate side tracking a bar person whose job is the “drinking” guests. I know they are willing to do it, it’s just me!
