IMO, Saturday Night Fever on the Liberty is barely worth seeing for free.

I feel marginally better about We Will Rock You on Anthem for free. It was a lot to sit through for an excellent final 40 minutes or so; but the production values were superb.

$79? LOL!

I always get a kick out of people complaining about the price increases new pricing on new events etc. we all live in a capitalist society and this will never stop. never. give it up already. Plus I love how everybody is leaving out the majority of what that 79 covers meet and greet cocktail party etc. it’s not like you’re just sitting close to the stage my God people. Same people complain about “”socialism are the same ones who get up in arms when a price increases. Again this is capitalism at its finest and running like a well oil machine. You can’t have it both ways... you are either for all out capitalism or you want some socialism which in layman’s terms is regulated capitalism. For instance putting a cap on how high the profits can be on a pill or medicine, see we don’t have that in this country it’s pure all out capitalism

You REALLY need to get a credit card that does not charge conversion fees!!!! There are many. :o

There aren't. For cards with no annual fee in canada, there are 2, and 1 is being cancelled outright mid march. That leaves one, and they're not a major bank and are super picky about who they give a card to. No one can figure out what qualifies you. It's not based strictly on credit score.

There's also 2 cards that give you 2% extra cashback rewards to make up for the fee but you still have to pay it and they only offer cashback once a year.

I’m a huge fan of (for example Lin Manuel Miranda on Hamilton

I'm expecting to pay $300/ticket here to see Hamilton, sans Lin Manuel. Would pay for a meet and greet, and have paid for premium theater experiences before.

I've seen Mamma Mia five times (four on Broadway), so someone like me is definitely their target audience, but apparently I'm vastly in the minority.

A lot of Broadway performers get their starts on cruise ships, so it's a chance to meet someone before they hit it big.

Based on what I have read, this seems to be for the bigger production shows on the larger ships? The agency I used to book our upcoming Independence cruise says this (see below) It wasn't there when I first booked the cruise. I haven't seen this on the RCCL website. I wonder what it means.

Theme Cruise: Grease - Slick back your hair and pack your poodle skirts. You'll follow the romantic twists and turns of Sandy and Danny, two lovebirds who navigate the tricky social waters of their high school while keeping their reputations - and relationship -together. Ticketed events may be subject to an additional cost and are subject to availability.

It's not a cocktail party, it's a free cocktail. It's fine if they want to do this for anyone that wants to pay, but it's not fine to cancel people that already had booked reservations for free to do it, so they could make a few dollars.

Capitalism is no excuse for bad form. A deal's a deal. I am quite frankly flabergasted!!!

In regard to your post: If you took the time to read back a day into ALL the posts, you wouldn't misquote. I for one gave all the details in regard not only to my situation, but also what the 79 dollar blood money fee offers.. I honestly recorded everything that has been occurring. Including being lied to by RCCL that the 6pm show on the 7th had been cancelled. Had I not found out the truth,(once my cruise planner was unlocked) they would have accomplished their deceptive plan.

Also, I'm not a socialist. We own our own business and we paid good money for this trip. The show was a part of our decision to take this particular cruise on this particular ship. Yes prices can change, so can perks-but not once I'm into a final contract. As I said earlier: A deal is a DEAL...

So in closing, If you are the type of person who accepts poor treatment-then lay down and take it.

I, for one, will not ever take it. the " give it up already attitude" of so many un-schooled people on how to treat others as you would wish to be treated... (you remember, the golden rule)? Is the reason why we're all being taken advantage of on many issues.

You’re barking by up the wrong tree. Whether you agree with it or not this is how capitalism works how to get the most out of anybody and everybody see how far they can take it. People got kicked out because people bought the $79 package correct? looks like it’s working. The day that the priority for Royal Caribbean and any other corporation is not the bottom line is the day hell freezes over. This is what unrestricted free for all capitalism it looks like. America baby. In order to stop companies from doing things like this is to enact laws and regulations that help the consumer, like you and me.

Are you saying that that specific evening (or all)performance for WWRY is only available on a per fee ($79) basis.

Its no wonder the RCI Stock is so high. RCI will continue to push the envelope of onboard spending to new heights. I for one, am getting a bit fed up with their money grabbing style. When is enough enough? Not to mention food in the MDR is so bad now to get a good meal you have to make it yourself in the windjammer or go to specialty restaurants. Loyal to Royal is like a setting sun. I hope they can succeed with the focus on "new to cruise mentality"... Ugh!

Yes the entire show event has been cancelled and re-invented as the 79.00 package event. Nothing can be done is the final word. No solution empty apologies from the poor agents who have to push this BS! RCI is a toilet.

Royal should be careful , because their loyal customers may take their money elsewhere ... Everyone has has the right to spend their vacation dollars a any way they like ... Free country right ,.....

Bottom line there is a way of doing business and this sneaky maneuver of yanking seats at the last minute to sell their already reserved seats is the wrong way of doing it ...

Well said. It was a sneaky maneuver so this may very well be our farewell sailing with this dishonorable corporation.

Hey their profits are up yet greed has no ceiling

Already booked Cats for our April Oasis cruise and when I just logged in it is also showing now with a $79 pp charge if you want to attend. No free option available.

I checked the 4/29 Oasis cruise and Cats is complementary, i.e. there is no $79 option. I guess either not every cruise has the VIP option or they are testing it for a limited time. I’ll keep an eye on it to see if they decide to change it.

I looked at the calendar twice to ensure it was not April 1st.

What the heck are the decision-makers at RCL thinking?

I am feeling horrible now because we have first time cruisers coming with us on the Indy in March and we have told them about the shows being free.

We were shocked at Giovanni's new price (on the Allure) of $42.00 per person in December. Not only had the price doubled in a year but they also dropped the Lamb Chops off the menu as well as Caesar Salad.

The price was different on the Indy earlier this month (I think it was $32 per person) and the Lamb Chops and Caesar Salad were on the menu. We didn't bother going based on our experience on the Allure in Dec. and only saw the menu at the end of the January cruise.

I have always boasted about how great RCL is and highly recommended it to friends -- won't be doing that anymore.

My husband & I are sailing the Anthem this sunday 01/28/18. Last evening at 5:30 I got an e-mail from RCCL stating I'd be rescheduled from the 6pm show on the 7th to the 2:30 show same date. What the ????

So I called C&A desk, asked to have my rsvp back. They said that 6 pm show was cancelled.

Couldn't get the 6th for 8pm show either-not available.

Well after the call, I go into the cruise planner and see the TRUTH!!!

It would appear RCCL needs a bit more of our cash. they are now selling that 6pm show for 79.00 per head.

I could put either show in my cart-for a price-but the complimentary option was not available

Oh you get a fancy cocktail, a preferred seat, a meet & greet & photo with the cast. Ha!

So a whole lot of people just get bumped so Royal can try a new money making scam?

This corporation is making it harder and harder for me to stay loyal to Royal!!!

How dare they change the game plan the very last evening possible to adjust things online?

How dare they take away my reserved seats, I booked months ago?

I'm not done. I will have my seats back! This is a crusade people!

I find myself very upset with this backhanded abuse that RCCL feels they have some sort of right to inflict on it's loyal customers. I reached out to C&A this morning, Oregon office. I explained the lack of a satisfying result for the problem. I pleaded to be put through to resolutions, as C&A has no authority to handle this, as they keep saying. No, I was repeatedly scolded, they need to "do some research" before they can escalate it...

I then called a guest relations # I had on my desk-turned out to be Celebrity. The agent was very understanding & put me through to Miami resolution dept. They used the same BS that C&A used- C&A needs to finish it's "research" before Resolutions can do anything. I argued that since they were the only ones able to accommodate a customer complaint-why the wait? No go. Would not say if they can even fix this, or when-I was literally in tears...(I can only hope the show at 6pm on Feb7th plays to an empty theatre.)

I was promised, however that I would hear back from Miami today. They better make it right because I have always hated bad breakups, and I never ever go back. because, once it's over, it's over...

Royal, please don’t spit in the face of your clients. We will walk.

So I scheduled myself for the 2:30 show of WWRY on March 6th which is day 10 of my 12 night Anthem cruise. If I try to book the $79 version, one of the choices is my date and time. Does this mean that they're going to cancel my free booking? If so, I'm P.O'd. It's one thing to be capitalistic and do stupid stuff like this but it's quite another to roll this out when people already have bookings. Wouldn't a smart person just roll it out on a sailing where people don't already have bookings? It just goes to show that nobody really give a crap what the guest thinks. Bad form, Royal. Really bad form.

No It looks like there is going to be a choice of the $79 option of a prime seat, meet the cast, a drink, and photo of the cast. OR the free booking.

My May 3rd cruise has both options to book, for all dates and times. It looks like they are going to have one section for people that pay the $79. They do this at concerts all the time. Pay big bucks to have a meet and greet at the performance before or after the show. What is bad about this now is they are cancelling peoples free reservations, made months ago, to be able to make room for those that want to pay the $79.

If the evening shows become all pay, yes, I'd be peeved and walk to another line...

If it's just one section of the house being the "pay section" for suckers, then I'd be a little peeved I didn't have any chance at the nicer seats, but not "royally" ticked...although the show then better be really good...

Or be a good customer and walk...the more you free up laws and regulations and reduce barriers to entry, the more other companies can swoop in and grab disaffected customers...

Capitalism only works if companies, employees, and customers all work at being "good" at their roles in the game...companies should try to push for max profit, employees should push for max pay and benefits, and customers should push for best value for their buck...it's the give and take among the 3 that makes capitalism work...so, you see something nuts, you walk and encourage all other customers to do so as well...corporations won't sell what people aren't buying...

NCL has some dinner shows that they charge for .

Bill

Yes, they do. The big difference is that these shows are very specialized and are not available for anyone to see for free. They are held in small, specialized venues, you pay a price, get a special dinner experience and a special show. Same for all attendees. Somewhat different than this.
