Rare shanefm3 Posted February 11, 2018 Author #105 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Did walk off and was thru customs by 735am. Uber to FLL .I’ll be home on the couch by 1pm . While most people wouldn’t risk the early flight , I’ve done it the last 6-7 times while traveling solo. I wouldn’t do it if traveling with a group . I have TSA PRE and was thru security and at my gate by 820am with a Coffee in hand . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rare shanefm3 Posted February 11, 2018 Author #107 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Correct , there is a little section to the left when you exit. It’s the designated area for Uber drivers i believe . I ordered as i walked out and rather than wait for them , i just scooter over and got him as he was exiting . beach lover 2 Posted February 12, 2018 #109 Share Posted February 12, 2018 shanefm3 I was on this same cruise and certainly agree with your comments. I am platinum and may have jumped to the next level after this last cruise. This was my fifty third cruise with the last twenty three on NCL. I have always enjoyed my cruises and always look forward to my next one. I have sailed on the Getaway three times and usually do a back to back. Certainly glad I only did one cruise this time. I enjoy dressing for dinner and I heard many passengers complaining and indicated this was their last cruise with NCL. Hopefully NCL will listen to loyal passengers and try to get things back to where they were before.
Sunshine&Margaritas Posted February 12, 2018 #110 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Shane, thank you so much for your pictures and your review. I am sorry you had so many issues. I am cruising on the Getaway May 6th and that salad picture almost made me heave. I am glad you posted it though. I think we sometimes forget that we still should be careful with other people preparing our food, though we shouldn't expect to find anything in it. I would be really happy to meet someone like you on a cruise, you are a roll with the punches kind of person and you are far more gracious about things than I would have been especially after that salad. Your complaints are valid but I am glad that you still were able to enjoy the rest of your cruise. I really enjoyed your review!

Thank you I think once you’ve been cruising for a while , you can easily brush off some minor issues. I often find it humorous watching some people complain at the GS desk with minor issues and i swore i would never be one of them . Unfortunately, i found myself at the desk more than all my other cruises combined . It was just an off experience but it seemed widespread on the ship . It was a very disengaged staff . I felt like I’d walked into a family argument [emoji1]. I did hear from NCL who said they are investigating the occurrence. What that means to me I’ve no idea . I have never been the type to stomp my feet and demand something . If they want to offer something , fine. If not, i won’t lose sleep . At this point i think NCL need some space apart and to see other people for a while [emoji106]. I’m both sorry and glad, that I’m not the only one who felt this was a bit of a non usual NCL cruise Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Like you both I have been on a few cruises, this will be my gold/platinum cruise (I should have been platinum my last cruise but I had to cancel at the last minute due to emergency surgery ) so the last cruise I was on was the Getaway a year ago. I enter with an open mind but with my eyes open.
CruisingNole Posted February 13, 2018 #116 Share Posted February 13, 2018 That photo has to be one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen served, anywhere. You'd be better off eating at a homeless soup kitchen. Thank God I'm not booked for a future cruise on this ship because after seeing that photo...no...just no. I felt like I’d walked into a family argument You nailed it!!! We were on the ship along with you and our large group felt the same vibe coming from the entire staff!! Totally off vibe from the cruise director ( whom I saw once) to the unfriendly bartenders. Not many smiles at all, anywhere from staff. As I called it in another post... it was like a training voyage. The only pleasant people we encountered were the buffet table clearers!!! Very strange, unpleasant vibe indeed and did put a huge damper on our cruise.
mikeyd Posted February 16, 2018 #118 Share Posted February 16, 2018 Great review. We were on the same cruise too. We noticed the hit and miss attitudes with the crew as well but overall it was pretty good. The cloudy mornings, with the occasional shower was strange but it always seemed to clear up by 10/11am. That is so strange with the "extra protien" in your salad. It was not tiny and I am amazed the kitchen did not detect it since it was so large. Did you learn the backstory on the large population of young Asians on board? There were certainly a lot of them and I never was able to chat with one to see if there were all together or or there were several groups. ilovetotravel1977 Posted February 16, 2018 #119 Share Posted February 16, 2018 As a former dual knobbly knees / chicken leg winner in 1990, a hairy leg winner in 96 and now a solid mr belly flop contender , I’ve seen the “quality “ go down at the pool events . This cruises contestants were crude , with one exposing his rear end ( yes , kids were around ). Not to sound snobby, but this was something you’d expect on other cruises where i won’t mention the name . Let’s just say it rhymes with barnival . If i had a kid with me , I’d have been livid. On our last cruise on the Escape, the poolside entertainment was on par with what you are describing. Thank goodness our DD7 (at that time) was more interested in the slides and water park. I think because the main pool is supposed to be adult only until 5pm, they think there are no kids around. But, as an adult, I definitely don't want to see people's body parts that should definitely be covered up. ugh.
grandmarnnurse Posted February 16, 2018 #120 Share Posted February 16, 2018 I will post some insights and observations throughout the week Background Long time cruiser, multiple cruise lines , 48m . I normally roll with the ups and downs as it certainly beats working [emoji1] Embarkation I arrived early (9am) in hope of getting a vibe pass . I was 2nd in line at check in and received group 1. I was hopeful!! When they started boarding, it was a bit chaotic . Priority boarding went to platinum ( me next time), and once i saw around 100 ppl board , i knew my chances of a vibe pass were slim. Despite being around 5th in group 1 boarding( a few muscled by me ) , the vibe passes were indeed sold out . So unless you’re platinum or in the haven , enjoy your sleep in and skip the early arrival . Group 1 doesn’t help anymore Studio cabin , i like the set up and it works perfect for my needs I added $850 in OBC, only$300 has shown up . Hopefully resolved later. Bring receipts!!. I also added the soda pass and that also didn’t register Super Bowl was fun, bought some boxes at the casino and unfortunately didn’t win . Everywhere was packed for the game and I’m sure there are plenty of sore heads today . It was a bit concerning seeing people who could barely stand being served shot after shot. I also saw a few women staggering around solo who had no idea where they were . I’m all for letting your hair down on a cruise but serving completely intoxicated-guests is a bit extreme . I bought the thermal pass and as usual it is a great escape . Well worth the money Weather is beautiful, food is good and it’s a Monday without the cold and work . Life is good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I totally agree about intoxicated individuals. Just because you have a drink package doesn’t mean you should drink yourself to that point. Why even bother with a cruise then. Save your money and just go to your neighborhood bar. I like to experience and remember my cruise. CruzinMel Posted February 17, 2018 #121 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Well, I'm.on this cruise in 50 days, and I am not eating any salads from anywhere!!! I had a similar experience at Shanghai a couple.of years ago, except that mine was a coarse, straight black hair (I figured from the server) and once you've had thst experience, you don't want to trust anything else from there!!! I'm sorry your cruise wasn't wonderful....but it was warmer, right? Sent from my SM-G955U using Forums mobile app
grandmarnnurse Posted February 17, 2018 #122 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I had something similar happen 3 years ago on the Oasis. I was served my glass of Chardonnay in the MDR with a bug in it. The server didn’t even notice it! I pointed it out, was given another glass, and had chocolate covered strawberries waiting for me in my cabin, also. Edinburghgirl1 Posted February 17, 2018 #123 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I was on this cruise on 21st January and whilst I enjoyed it I too found the majority of the crew unfriendly, lots of rowdy behaviour and the worst dressed people I have ever seen on a cruise. Whilst I appreciate its fee style cruising swimshorts at dinner! I also felt the ship wasn't cleaned as well as it should have been. Spilt drinks weren't cleaned up quickly, saw food on elevator floors etc. I think I will be sailing next time with Celebrity. They seem to attract a classier crowd, ships are spotless and crew are the friendliest I have encountered. The food and service is also far superior. I suppose you get what you pay for. lvcrzn Posted February 17, 2018 #125 Share Posted February 17, 2018 All I eat these days are salads.......but I won’t on my next cruise. Had I seen this bug in my food, I’d have a difficult time eating after that. Hopefully NCL has been alerted to this post and will be diligent with food inspection.
