LOL, don't you guys get it? It is beyond comprehension (at least to some) that someone could possibly not think that Oasis is the end all be all? Oh wait, I did not after I sailed on Oasis.....

But what you are saying just isn't true. The Allure and the Oasis do not have any 7 day sailings that visit only one port...at least none that I have seen. I will say that the itineraries are a bit boring since they can't fit in many ports, but their expanding their stops and a St. Thomas, St. Martin, and Bahamas itinerary is still a good week :)

We've always bought drink packages since they were introduced on both lines. To compare my most recent/upcoming sailings (Liberty of the Seas last spring break, Vista this upcoming spring break) We got RC's for $47/day and the Vista is $51 and some change/day. Personally, I really like that there is no limit on Royal. I've never ordered a drink that wasn't included, so I can't say if the price limit is a big deal or not. However, we have hit the 15 limit on Carnival sometimes...and it's annoying. So, yes, the drink packages can be more on Carnival but even if they're the exact same, I still much prefer the unlimited drink total.

Price wise, we are spending around $2k for our ocean view balcony on the Vista for 6 days, and we got that rate as booked in a group booking. To compare to our Liberty sailing last year, same week, was $1900 for 7 days. Now the Vista is much newer than the Liberty, so my closest comparison is the Allure back in May of 2016 for 7 days, just under $2k.

Also, you are comparing the Glory to the Oasis/Allure....that's just not the same or even similar. Compare the Vista or at least the Breeze/Dream/Magic for at least a somewhat similar comparison when looking at price.

My bad, type error, should have said '3' ports, not '1'!

The Glory visits on average 4 ports per 7 day cruise, the Oasis class 3 per 7 day cruise! Since we take mostly B2B, or B2B2B, that's adds up to a lot of missed ports for us while stuck on that floating mall,,,Been there, done that, no thanks!:D

BTW the Oasis class are floating shopping malls stuffed with people, so I 'agree', they can't be compared with the Conquest Class!

As far as drink pkges go, I've never bought one, (or on any other cruise line) so if you're saying RCL is a better 'booze cruise', OK!;p

Joking aside, we get free drinks in the casino through the casino club, free drinks at the casino get together's, and as platinum, a free drink at brunch, and free drinks at the VIFP party, so that's plenty for us!

On RCL we get free drinks in the casino through their casino club, and through their loyalty club, we get drinks/coupons at the nightly diamond plus party:hearteyes:! That too is more then enough for us!

Wife also brings a couple bottles of wine for the balcony!;p

Between cruises, they always give us free Champagne(wife, not me) while waiting for the new weeks passengers to board!

I got a hang over just thinking about this!:D

I have been on the Oasis once and Allure twice. The 2nd Allure cruise was probably one of my favorite cruises ever however I kind of agree, at times I did not feel like I was on a ship and didn't care for it. I think RCI has beautiful, innovative ships, so I am not putting RCI down. It is not just what I enjoy most when cruising.

Agree, you almost dont feel the ocean, they have limited ports as to where they can go and the list goes on.

I guess you won't be sailing the very large Carnival ships that are coming out in a few years? I'm sure some Carnival cheerleaders will say they are the best after trashing Oasis class. Oasis class is far less crowded than Vista. You don't have to look to far on the Carnival board to figure that out.

We'll see in a couple months as we are booked on a B2B on the Vista, but again, your opinion is yours, we see the Oasis as floating malls, not interested, and you could be right, and we won't sail the bigger ones coming out!

So true.... I want a cruise and not be limited to certain ports...not a resort

Yea, we want the ports also, and it seems some want the ship, which the Oasis Class gives you, a lot of ship!

But that's good cause they have their gigantic floating shopping malls(;p) giving the rest of us better deals on the smaller ships!

No one's opinion is wrong, just different, and its OK to disagree!:D

You don't know what you are talking about. Go look at November 2019. Compare Horizon to Symphony. I realize Horizon is a 6 or 8 day but if you look at prices and pay attention you will see Horizon is MORE!!! Balcony to Balcony I compared. Carnival is $52 dollars more a day.

You're travel investigative skills are not good. I can find cheaper Royal rates all over the place. Who is laughing now??? HAHA LOL

You just learned Carnival can be MORE so add that you your Carnival forum I've learned something experience.

I’m taking about the fact that I have never seen RCL cheaper for ANY cruises I have searched for. Not once!! Don’t worry about my researching skills they are just fine.

I’ll go on RCL forum for any information I need on them.

Just FYI, RCI has 15 ships that are smaller than Carnival's biggest ships. Plus, they have a 48k gt ship, which is 22k gt smaller than Carnival's smallest ship.

I've always suggested everyone should at least try Oasis once. I totally understand it's not perfect for everyone. At least you tried it and can form an opinion from actual experience.

I prefer Oasis class but also enjoy others. Just got off Escape and have a Magic booking next year. But I'll consistently sail Oasis class or anything new and groundbreaking that comes around in the future.

Uhmm YOU said: "In all of my years of cruising I have NEVER found Royal to be cheaper than Carnival and I look all of the time. . It is NOT cheaper than carnival lol. Not even close.

You look all the time and are adamant its not cheaper than Carnival. No need to spin it. If you're not finding cheaper rates on Royal some of the time then for sure your researching skills are not good....but hey "you look all the time"!!

Lol. This is simply laughable at this point. I’ll say it one more time then I’ll be moving right along. Never, have I ever found a RCL cruise cheaper than carnival. I know lots of others who say the same. Have a lovely evening. [emoji4]

You are the one who bragged about how often you look. Then you claim not once, not one single time have you seen Royal cheaper? That's laughable. I see why others jumped on you for making such a ridiculous claim or proving that you are incompetent at booking. Which one is it?

I mean, just for the sake of this post I did a mock booking for an October cruise and found an Oasis sailing for hundreds less than Glory for a balcony room, same weekend, both eastern. Royal is often lower than Carnival, and yes, Carnival is more often lower than Royal. But it's often enough that anyone actually looking semi-often would find Royal sailings during a sale that are cheaper than Carnival.

The pricing has become much closer over the last couple of years. I would say that on whole, averaging all ships for each line, in totality Carnival would be cheaper.

You getting in on it too. Man too much time on ones hands lol. I go specific times of the year. I don’t just grab a cruise because it’s cheaper that time of year. This is very funny however. Be blessed today [emoji12]

Thanks for the review. I have cruised on the Oasis, Allure, and the Harmony of the Seas (all Oasis class) and agree with most everything the OP said. I do not gamble so I cannot venture any opinions about the Casinos. As one who cruises quite a bit on both lines, I can say that the perks for Diamond Plus on Royal (175 nights/points) are, in my opinion, much superior to the perks at Diamond (200 nights) on Carnival. And as a previous poster observed, Royal is not always more expensive. I cruised on the Carnival Magic in a cove balcony on 2/3/18 at a fare of $1940.00. I am booked on the Allure of the Seas in a standard ocean view balcony on 10/28/18 at a fare of $1403.00. This is not truly an apples to apples comparison but it is illustrative.

While I completely agree that Carnival is not always cheaper, your comparison is not fair. Comparing a February fare to a late October fare will never be an apples to apples comparison.

The poster literally said "it's not an apples to apples comparison".....

So, i missed the last sentence...so how's this....its also not illustrative. Its not even worth posting. Some of the cheapest fares of the year occur in October and November.

Then you should look at my post just a few up that show an October comparison between Carnival and Royal. Hint: Royal's Oasis came out cheaper than Carnival Glory, same dates, both eastern, both 7 days, both balcony.

Would like to see ship name and cabin category on your RCL dummy booking????

It's really not a contest. I have a Magic booking for next year. I like both lines. The point is simply that Royal is often cheaper than Carnival, though Carnival is usually cheaper. It's all there on the booking and the kids sale free promotion is applied. For a double occupancy cabin, the Carnival booking may be cheaper. And if Royal doesn't have an active sale like KSF, then the Carnival booking would be cheaper as well. And that's what I said earlier, was that with Royal, you have to keep an eye out for sales, which can be annoying, but you can absolutely get a Royal sailing on a much higher quality ship for less than Carnival depending on circumstances.
