STIguy Posted March 22, 2018 #51 Share Posted March 22, 2018 I guess the Arcade and the basketball court pay their way somehow otherwise they'd be Speciality restaurants by now ^^^^^this^^^^^ The bean counters have every square inch costed out. If an arcade, or whatever, didn’t earn X amount. It would be replaced. Quick.

RickinNYC Posted March 23, 2018 #53 Share Posted March 23, 2018 I'm not standing in a line to take a leak so if the men's room is full and the ladies room is open, in this day and age color me ginger and call me Sheila. Im gonna pee! RCKM43 Posted March 25, 2018 #54 Share Posted March 25, 2018 The fun factory usually brings the kids in there for 30 min free time at the fun factories expense everyday. The kids love it. They are usually attached to the teen/fun factory area so out of the way of the adult areas. I am sure they could put in a relaxation room, but seeing as it is attached to the kids area I doubt those looking to get away from children would want to use the space. While I agree it might only be used here and there, it is a staple on most cruise lines and the kids look forward to going with the fun factory. As far as the basketball court goes, that too is used quite a bit by the fun factory for games like Gaga ball, scooter racing, basketball, and various other games and challenges. It is a great location for the kids to go. I think most, especially those who say take children on other lines, would prefer to see those that do sail with Celebrity running and playing on the basketball court rather than indoors or other less appropriate places. But from someone who has two kids who have already sailed on 5 celebrity cruises, with 2 more coming up before this summers end, the kids enjoy those areas and they keep active kids active. My kids love their Celebrity cruises, do not find them boring, but these are areas that they can be kids. Just like some adults love the casinos, or the computer area, while others do not. If you don’t wish to use the small area attached to the kids club then simply avoid that one small room. They do serve a purpose and on busier family cruises get a lot of use. cruzeluver Posted March 25, 2018 #55 Share Posted March 25, 2018 Ok I think by now the OP has been sufficiently berated. Wondered how long before someone played the "entitled Millennial" card. Yet I see far more entitled behavior from some in the older generation who are so quick to snap at people who work in customer service if they think they are not moving quickly enough, believe they should not have to wait patiently in line or think their rudeness is acceptable because by being old they have somehow "earned" it. Dunmore2 Posted March 25, 2018 #56 Share Posted March 25, 2018 Too true....or the “ entitled person “ berating and yelling at the waiter, store owner, etc that they didn’t get their seniors discount. The discount is deserved, just not the poor treatment.
Talex831 Posted March 25, 2018 #57 Share Posted March 25, 2018 It bugs me that celebrity and other cruise lines still have game arcades on their ships...: The whole beginning of this post set the OP up to be berated regardless of age. So you seek to deflect from Millennial's to what you define as old people, sure seems that way. Perhaps a cruise forum isn't the proper place for you or this topic huh, which is far different than arcades on ship!As for older people, as you age, 50's, 60's and if your really lucky 70's, 80's or older; many start to develop chronic pain, pain that doesn't go away. Some are living with cancer, the stress of taking care of people older than them not to mention fixed incomes that force them to live well below what they once did. There are many reasons why older folks have shorter fuses or are cranky from the time they get up. I'm sure you sit there in silence as you see the examples you complain about, as you should if it's none of your business. As you approach the ages associated with the end off ones life try your best not to become the person you complain about, wonder how well you'll do? Time will tell! Maybe print your post, enlarge and frame it as something to live by the whole time praying you don't get sick, have to take care of people you shouldn't have to take care of or live in fear of being homeless at 70 or any of a thousand other things that could put a kink in someone's perfect existence and cause them to have an unpleasant moment witnessed by judgemental people! I am not deflecting from anything. I am neither a Millennial or senior citizen. And I was clear that I was referring to "some" from the older generation, not all. I know wonderful people in all age brackets and jerks in all of them as well. I just hate the fashion that its ok to trash one generation while preserving the sanctity of another. And when ANYONE REGARDLESS OF AGE abuses someone not in a position to fight back it is my business. I do agree however this is not the forum so I am done with this silly discussion. Boston Joe Posted March 25, 2018 #61 Share Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) I am not deflecting from anything. I am neither a Millennial or senior citizen Yes, that was obvious! And in seemingly pointing out that in the thread has reached its end you attempt to expand it to a different direction of your choice. If you wish to start a debated over your perceptions of "some" senior citizens start maybe your own thread so that I can avoid it and this one further. It amazes me how cruises to me at least are the ultimate vacations and can be enjoyed by everyone on board in their own way. Some of those people's way is just to find another reason to be miserable about something, are you one of those? Perhaps one of those that have been on so many cruises that they themselves are entitled to make those around them as miserable as they are nit picking every little thing? If you are looking for discounts on beverages and tours and paid activities, yes there are sales from time to time of up to 50% on selected 'packages'. One just needs to act upon notification from X about any sales going on. There are NO planned times for these sales, that we as the general public know of only general time frames. Often times someone on your RC will post about any sales available on your particular sailing so being a member there, if you are not already, may be of assistance in this. bon voyage

Rare hcat Posted April 4, 2019 #70 Share Posted April 4, 2019 Chucky Cheese and similar places are still popular for kiddie day parties... We like to visit the arcade...and maybe play...retro fun! As long as there's parental control over time and expenditure, why take this away ???? What would fit better in such small out of the way places? the_dylaness Posted April 5, 2019 #73 Share Posted April 5, 2019 DH and I really enjoy a few rounds of air hockey on a cruise now and then. My only complaint about the arcade is that it is fantastically loud. My mom and I really enjoy a video game called "Hydro Thunder". We first experienced it on a RCCL cruise in 2002 (it was a longish cruise with a lot of sea days and I guess we were a little bored...) and fell in love with the game. We were very excited to find it on the Norwegian Jade a couple of years ago. We racked up probably $50 on that one game over our 5 day cruise but honestly, it was completely worth it. A couple of cocktails, a few games of Hydro Thunder. we had a blast! Always something I will remember fondly.
