I have recently had some serious allergic reactions.. My Dr has suggested that I carry an epipen in my purse. Since it contains a needle I am concerned about airport and ship security.

Does anyone have experience with this?

I have flown many times since getting an epipen several years ago. I've never had any problem at all.

I use a similar single use pen and have had no trouble with them in my carry on luggage when flying internationally or boarding cruise ships. I always keep them in a separate holder designed for traveling with such pens and always have my paperwork from the pharmacy with them. Never been questioned here or abroad and I've done this a time or forty. You shouldn't have any issues either.

TSA and cruise lines will allow doctor prescribed needles for Epipens and diabetics

We cruised last year with my teenage son who has to carry 3 epipens at all times. We had no problems at the various airports or boarding the cruise with them. Airport security did not even question us about them.

You will have no problems.

 

I have carried two Epipens with me at all times for the last seven years. I had a near fatal anaphylactic reaction that left me unconscious and residing in intensive care for several days.

Approximately 500 flights in the past 20 years and the only time it has been questioned (and briefly confiscated) was at Paro airport in Bhutan. Thankfully not a cruiseport.

You will have no issue with ship's security

We have carried epipens for years on HAL with zero issues.
