st5310 Posted May 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Just read the article written by Cruise Critic contributor Dan Askin, 14 Ways to Get Free (or Cheaper) Drinks on a Cruise. Askin's #13 states, "Book any suite (excluding a mini-suite) on a Royal Caribbean ship, and you'll have access to the Concierge Club Lounge, found on Enchantment of the Seas and all Radiance- and Voyager-class ships. Inside, you'll find a self-service honor bar (with no fees)." I have sailed in Grand Suites on several Voyager and Radiance class ships and enjoyed the Concierge Lounge that included free happy-hour drinks, but NEVER have I had access to a self-service honor bar, neither in the Lounge nor in the suite, with no fees. It's been a while since I've been on a Radiance or Voyager ship, so has there been a change in policy I'm not aware of? Are there now honor bars for suite guests in the Concierge (or Suite) Lounge? We are booked on the Adventure at the end of June. Thank you! Neil
ONECRUISER Posted May 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Must mean Free during limited hrs of operation in Suite/Concierge Lounge...
cb at sea Posted May 13, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 13, 2018 The cost of the suites far outweigh the cost of the "free" drinks....so don't book a suite simply for 2 hours in the evening of drinks!
st5310 Posted May 13, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Must mean Free during limited hrs of operation in Suite/Concierge Lounge... You're probably right, but the suite lounge is accessible all day. I'm thinking people will read that and assume the "honor" bar is accessible all day as well. Besides, during the happy hours, there is waiter service. Thanks for your reply. Neil

There was a time when <gasp> Royal Caribbean added a Concierge Lounge to the ENCHANTMENT!!!! Wow. Gasp. OMG. And there were no ships beyond the Voyager class. See how old that article is? Based on the info, I'm betting you are quite right. Except I don't recall there EVER being an honor bar on those classes.
rubytue Posted May 13, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2018 "... Inside, you'll find a self-service honor bar (with no fees)." Now I don't have a dog in the fight as to if there is a bar or not. But, to be a self-service honor bar, there would, by definition of "honor bar," be fees. The honor bars means you are on your honor to report your consumption to be charged
wendychloecruiser Posted May 13, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2018 YEARS ago when Moses was a boy, the Concierge lounge was set up as an open bar where you did indeed help yourself.
Grandma Dazzles Posted May 13, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2018 Has to be either a very old article or very old research. It used to be an honor bar in CL - like over 20-30 years ago!
sjb317 Posted May 13, 2018 #10 Share Posted May 13, 2018 I remember bottles of alcohol sitting on the counter in the CL on Explorer and you were allowed to make your own drink. The only waiter was in & out to check canapés, put out new bottles, etc. Fun times😂😂 Sherri🙂

There wasn't much of a waiter service then.
