Pink champagne upon boarding?

Maybe I a missing something,but IMHO, the boarding drink is a bit of a nothing.

My DH and I sailed on the Summit to Bermuda in 2011.

Upon boarding, we were offered a welcome drink. Then, we walked a few yards to the elevators and were told that we could not take the drinks onto the elevator.

The choice was to down the drink on the spot or put the almost full glass on a tray.

We left the drinks on the tray.

We will be going on the Summit 7/8 withfriends. I think we will politely decline the offered drink if it is the same situation we encountered on the 2011 cruise.

Instead of offering a drink as a welcome gesture, I would prefer that the cabins be ready upon arrival as they are on Princess.

It's a nice touch, whether white, pink or somewhere in between. Relax and enjoy it, or move on and order something from your beverage package.

 

I agree. When I arrive to work each morning all I’m greeted with is bad coffee and 200 unread emails...I will cheerfully accept any welcome beverage offered to tide me over on my long walk up to the pool bar to order my first frozen cocktail of vacation. :D

Then may I suggest that you hold off on boarding until 130/2pm. you will then have the opportunity to turn down the drink AND go to your cabin!

Just got off Equinox. We were greeted with white sparkling wine or mimosas. I thought it was a lovely touch and said “thank you” with a smile. There was another time we were given pink sparkling wine but I think it was in the casino

Don't let it ruin your holiday. I'm sure they'll have a soft drink option if you really find pink fizz that different to white.

We always forego the drink, even though we really appreciate the welcome gesture. I like my first drink to be either a martini raspberry lemonade or a gin and tonic at sunset. Bit of a tradition.

There are many solutions to a problem that really isn’t a problem but a nice gesture.

 

The first time we sailed on X we were really impressed with the welcome aboard glass of bubbly. We then walked into the the atrium and went WOW. We were hooked. To us that is now our cue of knowing that a great cruise is beginning. It may not be the greatest but it is like driving to FL and stopping at the Welcome center getting that sample of OJ or grapefruit juice. You are now in FL, welcome. The welcome back iced cloths and refreshments on the piers in the ports are also a nice touch. It is what sets X above the other lines. That little extra touch.

 

Prior to sailing on X we sailed on many of the other cruise lines that didn’t offer anything and I am sure that they would want your business if the glass of bubbly or OJ that X offers is not appreciated or offends you.

Personally, I intend to continue to enjoy this "welcome aboard" from Celebrity as long as it is offered.
