Embarrassing cruise moments

Depends on which piece she lost! I usually wear board shorts since with that type of water activity I'm way more likely to lose my bottoms than top, but maybe I just pick the right tops!

It was her top.

I think it was our very first cruise, on the Sovereign of the Seas. I thought I'd be cool and test my language skills to tell our suite's room stewardess what a great job she did and thank you for making our bed. I apparently told her we wanted to take her to bed, which led to a really awkward conversation with the Hotel Director and a security guard and trying to explain it was a misunderstanding and that we were both gay. That led to the security guard asking us, numerous times, "then why did you ask this nice lady to go to bed with you!"

Nothing compared to some of these but we’ve been assisted by fellow passengers a few times furiously pressing the illuminated advertising screens trying to get route/activities information.

To be fair they were very close to each other!

Oh come on, it’s times like this that make vacation memories. I know my friends would have a good laugh and enjoy being the star of the moment. I suspect the wife is not sad, but laughs about it to this day.. Happy people.

Oasis a few cruises back. Formal night on the way to dinner in MDR. My dear wife has had numerous surgeries on her feet and is only able to walk a very short distance. She was using a mobility scooter on that cruise. While negotiating the aisle on the way to our table, there was a waiter coming our way carrying a tray of drinks. She swung wide to the left to give him room. Unfortunately she went a bit tooooo much to the left and caught the table cloth for an empty table with the handlebar of the scooter. In slow motion she pulled that table cloth, dishes, stemware, drinking glasses, and silverware off the table. Need less to say she was mortified!

The crew were very gracious about it,and rapidly cleaned it up and reset the table.

Many years ago, on a different cruise line, I was chosen out of the audience to participate in the welcome aboard show. There were maybe 4 other passengers besides me who were picked. The CD had chairs lined up on the stage and we were all told to have a seat and the CD explained the little skit and what each persons part was. Then he had us all stand up and he went down the line and we had to give our name, where we were from, etc. Unbeknownst to me - after we stood up, one of the CD's helpers removed the chairs. After giving my name and details I sat back down - directly on my butt on the floor! And I was wearing a short dress! I was MORTIFIED. It got a big laugh though, the CD apologized profusely, and they went on with the skit. My part was the "damsel in distress" and my line was "Help me, help me, save me, save me". Needless to say - throughout the cruise I was approached by random strangers and asked to say the line - or they would say it at me. At least they seemed to have forgotten the fall on my butt!

Was this on Carnival and were you Mary? I remember a « bedtime story » starring Mary. It was hilarious.

Not too embarrassing, but I leaned back against the emergency stop button on the side of the flowrider. Stopped the entire thing while they were trying to load them in. I was heckled the rest of the cruise by the people in line anytime I got near the button.

Yes, it was a Carnival cruise. I don't know if they still do the skit at the welcome aboard shows, but at the time it was probably our 5th Carnival cruise and they had done that skit on every one. And yes, my character was named Mary. Taught me to avoid the front row of the theater and avoid eye contact with the CD when he's looking for volunteers!

Probably forgetting to put the Do Not Disturb sign up during certain "in cabin activities" on our honeymoon cruise. We got covered up quickly enough and I'm sure it's not super uncommon for the steward, but was pretty awkward for us.

Second story wasn't embarrassing to my husband or me, but was to one of the friends cruising with us. My husband's birthday cruise and we were celebrating at midnight on his birthday with drinks at the casino bar. The bartender found out my husband and I were gay and kept coming up with the most embarrassing drinks for us and loudly announcing them on delivery. "We have some Sex on the Ocean. These two have probably had plenty but always room for more!" "Four *******s, coming right up! Remember, no hands in a *******!" We absolutely loved that bartender, probably tipped her over $200 throughout the cruise.

My wife went on the flow rider with a two piece bikini, left with a one piece.... Took her about 10 sec. to realize it. Now I know why there is always a majority male crowd looking on. worst part I was recording her ride on my phone. Maybe i should delete it[emoji848]

I think it would have to be getting back like two hours late on a RCI sponsored trip to an ancient Mayan ruin. We went from Costa Maya to almost Belize! Lots of security checkpoints! The port was dark when we rolled up in the van. Ship lights blazing down and I am sure there was red steam coming out of the captain’s ears and the air was blue as we ran the gauntlet up the remaining gangplank.

I too have had swimsuit issues but managed to quickly find the trunks in the pool. No photos taken I hope.

This is one that I always have to 'tell on' my DH. (Keep in mind that he still loves me enough to take me cruising! ;p)

It was our first cruise on RC -- many years ago. We had put off the last-day packing, and were frantically trying to get our checked bags out into the hall, by the published 11:00 pm pick-up deadline. (We later learned that the cruise lines are not all that strict about enforcing that time limit.) Finally, all of the checked bags were outside the door. My husband, who was down to his skivvies, suddenly realized that he'd inadvertently packed his next day's clothes in his checked bag. So, he grabbed the suitcase key, checked to see if the coast was clear, and dashed out into the hallway. I was busy packing toiletries, in the bathroom, when I heard voices outside our cabin door. My DH presently reappeared, red-faced and clutching his retrieved articles of clothing. When I asked him who he was talking to, he replied that it was the lovely older English couple, down the hall. I burst our laughing, and asked what they had said -- to the half-naked American guy, rummaging through a suitcase in their hallway. He said: They just smiled and said something like: "Lovely evening, isn't it?", as they passed him! :o

On our Honeymoon Cruise (Mariner) I fell asleep by the pool and forgot to put on sunscreen.

Didn't hit me right away, so I thought I would partake in the Belly Flop Competition (to, you know, add insult to injury!).

At any rate, that night was a formal night, and I'm in agony putting my suit on in the room. DW is changing out cold towels I have laid across my chest to cool me down. I suck it up, and we sit down to dinner and our table mates know something is wrong, so I told them I burned myself up. One couple at our table were seasoned cruisers from Cali, and brought a bunch of Aloe gel and cream in case of sun burn, so after dinner, they get me a tube.

I slide off into one of the bathrooms just off the MDR, lock the door of the handicap stall so I have room to coat my chest and shoulders and start applying.

About 3 minutes go by, and theres a *knock knock* on the stall door followed by a "what are you doing in there?" Being in a great deal of discomfort, and a bit overheated from the sun, I reply "whatcha think I'm doing?? Give me a minute".

60 more seconds, and I exit the stall - shirt unbuttoned, pants unbuttoned ready to head the sink to wash up and just as I walk out, the stall knocker was still waiting. He looks at me, looks at the tube in my hands, the clear aloe all over my hands, then my unzipped pants, and back up to my face. He appears a bit uncomfortable.

First words out of my mouth? "uhhh... this isn't what it looks like".

He shrugs, turns around and walks out the door.

I find DW and tell her the whole story and she can't catch her breath fast enough from laughing, then points out from everyone seeing the belly flop contest that I'll probably be known as "that perv from Chicago" for the rest of the trip.

We still laugh about it.

This is hilarious!!!

Some people just aren't fun or don't find many things funny. To each their own, I try to avoid people like that. I want fun in my life. I personally think it's funny and I would of kept the video!

Sleepwalking and choosing the wrong door to the bathroom, ending up in the hallway with the door closed. Wearing next to nothing. I guess at 2 AM.

My cruise mate next door wouldn't wake up so I tried the knocking the door on the other side, a cabin with father and son (70 & 35 I guess), who let me in. They introduced themselves as if this was a totally normal event. I called Guest Relations and they sent a very grumpy security man to unlock my door.

Then, on this deserted (HAL) ship, the son and I got some drinks from the fridge and spend a long time on Lido Deck. :DWhile it was embarrasing and I wouldn't want to repeat it, in retrospect I wouldn't want to "undo" it either.

Boarded Oasis. Could not wait to get to top deck, grab a beer, and check out the ship.

Got off the elevator, preceded to go outside deck, turned right when I should have turned left, ran right into the glass windbreaker wall, split my nose.

Bartender, I'll have a beer and a towel with ice.

Great way to start the cruise.

Very first cruise, first night show, girlfriend (now wife) says to sit in the front row. The act was a ventriloquist, guess who was picked to be the "dummy"? Those lights are hot on stage. The rest of the cruise, people were calling my name on the ship, pier, everywhere. Next show, I said we were not sitting up front. Guess what, people in the audience still recognized me and asked why I wasn't sitting up front anymore.

Got more involved in the later cruises to the point during my honeymoon cruise, guess who was on stage for the "Love and Marriage Show"? Now the wife was on stage. We won, but the next day while waiting for an excursion, people came up to us to say how good we were. We now do the Quest, even team captain. It's all part of the vacation experience now. Laugh with yourself, nobody is perfect.

Another "embarrassing" moment. This did not happen to me, but one of our tablemates at dinner. This woman was travelling with her daughter, who was in her twenties. One night, we invited this woman to attend The Quest. Most moments happen in The Quest. Anyway, during The Quest, there was a moment when they ask for women's bras. We completed the task, and then people were passing the bras back to the owners. One gets passed back to the woman we were with, and she remarks that this looks like one of her daughter's bras, but she was not with us.

Anyway, the next night at dinner, she asked her daughter about it. Her daughter's response: "Yes that was mine, you won't believe how fast I can get it off". Needless to say the mother was a bit red faced over that comment.

I always laugh at The Quest, because you don't know what you are in for.
