Rare POA1 Posted July 19, 2018 #76 Share Posted July 19, 2018 I *think* it just started showing E4 and Restricted fares. I swear that it wasn't there yesterday. I'm glad we're looking at a 10 Day cruise. The math is so much easier!
Bill B Posted July 19, 2018 #77 Share Posted July 19, 2018 There is no Explore 4 when I go to the HAL website. I have a HAL cruise booked and wrote to to my TA asking her to check into Explore 4 pricing (I just wanted to see if it might be 'worthwile'). Alas, my cruise is not included in the promo. Rare POA1 Posted July 19, 2018 #78 Share Posted July 19, 2018 My 24 day is up $1250, the 31 day around $1187 - that's per person so $2500 total on the one and nearly $2300 on the other total. I declined. I'll do the math, but I already know ;) By the way when I called I was told the Signature Beverage Package was 11 drinks per day as opposed to the 15 that it used to be. No biggie - we don't come near either of those, but thought I should mention it in case it helps someone else. I copied this from the T&C for E4 on the HAL site: Signature Beverage Package has a daily limit of 15 beverages, which includes all beverages priced at US$9.00 or lower. Guests must order beverages one at a time and must be 21 years or older for alcoholic beverages. Sharing is not permitted. Beverage management reserves the right to revoke the package if misused and refuse service for any reason, including service of alcoholic beverages to intoxicated guests. Package excludes purchases made in Signature Shops, Mini Bar and In Room Dining, or beverages on Half Moon Cay. I seriously hope they're not changing it to 11 just for Canadians. :o

We are on a B2B next April with 6 night Coastal and a 7 night Alaska- the Coastal leg is not included- I'm sure due to the low fares.

RocketMan275 Posted July 19, 2018 #82 Share Posted July 19, 2018 It's nice that the HAL site finally lets you price with and without Explore 4. We're looking at a 10 Day Holiday cruise. The difference is $460pp for a veranda and $610pp for a suite. Since you get $200 per suite in OBC, Explore 4 carries a $50 pp in a suite. How do you price w&w/o E4? We usually book without since we rarely spend over $50 PD for two. We would rather carry some good wine on board and pay corkage.

Thanks, Shirley You can consume the wine where ever you want after you've paid corkage. We find the on-board wines to be less than the best. We'd rather bring some wines we know we like. Wishing on a star Posted July 19, 2018 #85 Share Posted July 19, 2018 FrankC, if that Coastal is a short cruise, the drink package and/or the Promo might not be available because of the short length of the cruise (not the fare). I am wondering if the short cruises shorter than 6-7 days do not offer these packages.

When I clicked on the cabin category, it showed me two prices: Restricted fare and Explore 4. It's not super intuitive, and I am pretty well versed in computers. cabinluvn Posted July 19, 2018 #88 Share Posted July 19, 2018 We are booked in a Neptune and the Neptunes are sold out for my cruise. I call my PCC and he could find the price for Explore 4 should one open up. We have a casino rate along with the promo that gives us prepaid gratuities ad OBC. It would take all that away and increase our rates over $2500/pp. No brainer! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Maybe that is why! - I am just kidding of course.
RocketMan275 Posted July 19, 2018 #92 Share Posted July 19, 2018 The reason is simple - most people do not do their homework on price/value, and all they see the the word FREE. Personally, I do not book with Explore4, as we do not consume as much liquids so as for it to pay for us. Any marketing type will tell you the best/quickest way to close a sale is to convince the buyer they are getting something for "free". I had a CC poster tell me that unless the drink promo was itemized on the invoice as a separate item, then obviously, the promo was 'free' since the poster wasn't paying for it. Too bad some don't grasp the difference between 'free' and 'included'.

oceanmom Posted July 20, 2018 #95 Share Posted July 20, 2018 My PCC did say that the promo changes over time, so things may change I have had that happen before where the fare decreased while the promo was going on and I had the cruise repriced. It pays to watch the fare weekly.

Liz54 Posted July 20, 2018 #97 Share Posted July 20, 2018 We just booked a cruise as Explore 4 came on. Spoke to HAL and they priced it both ways. With Explore4 its $375 CDN more PP for our 11 day cruise. We usually buy a wine package and a coffee card - just under $200 US, so probably worth it for us.... Perhaps for cruises that aren't selling well. I think what you're saying is they added the promo and the price didn't increase. I would be interested in asking for the non-promo price in these instances. You might find there is a price reduction.
dee2673 Posted July 20, 2018 #99 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Not always true.....Both times I've had it applied it worked in my favor. First time the cruise price stayed exactly the same. Second time there was very little change in price for the additions. So sometimes, the additions are free. Sometimes they are . That's why it's recommended that folks check the prices. We booked a cruise with Explore4 and when it ended, the price went down 550.00PP. We rebooked, happily. We've seen some where the prices stayed the same but you can almost always get the promo removed and pay less. Congrats on it staying the same for you! But really, everyone should check their own
