I’ll have to have a word with Netflix. It keeps showing up as a US comedy over here.

That's not on you DW!  Canada does not register on the entertainment spectrum!  I think we are considered an unacknowledged state!  Wouldn't be the first time! 😅

Most of the generation of those now over 70 were HOME SCHOOLED in many ways...in our parents’ own words!

1. My mother taught me TO APPRECIATE A JOB WELL DONE.

"If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished cleaning."

2. My mother taught me RELIGION.

"You better pray that will come out of the carpet."

3. My father taught me about TIME TRAVEL .

"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!"

4. My father taught me LOGIC.

" Because I said so, that's why ."

5. My mother taught me MORE LOGIC .

"If you fall out of that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."

6. My mother taught me FORESIGHT.

"Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."

7. My father taught me IRONY.

"Keep crying, and I'll give you something to cry about."

8. My mother taught me about the science of OSMOSIS.

"Shut your mouth and eat your supper.

9. My mother taught me about CONTORTIONISM.

"Just you look at that dirt on the back of your neck!"

10. My mother taught me about STAMINA.

"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."

11. My mother taught me about WEATHER.

"This room of yours looks as if a tornado went through it."

12. My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY.

"If I told you once, I've told you a million times, don't exaggerate!"

13. My father taught me the CIRCLE OF LIFE.

"I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."

14. My mother taught me about BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.

"Stop acting like your father!"

15. My mother taught me about ENVY.

"There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do."

16. My mother taught me about ANTICIPATION.

"Just wait until we get home."

17. My mother taught me about RECEIVING.

"You are going to get it from your father when you get home!"

18. My mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE.

"If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to get stuck that way."

19. My mother taught me ESP.

"Put your sweater on; don't you think I know when you are cold?"

20. My father taught me HUMOR.

"When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."

21. My mother taught me HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT.

"If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up"

22. My mother taught me GENETICS.

"You're just like your father."

23. My mother taught me about my ROOTS.

"Shut that door behind you. Do you think you were born in a barn?"

24. My mother taught me WISDOM.

"When you get to be my age, you'll understand.

25. My father taught me about JUSTICE.

"One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you!”

Hi from Lima. We boarded a few minutes ago and we are waiting to push back.

The wedding party was wild and fun. We gave up and left at midnight since we had a 5AM wake-up call to look forward to.

Friday when we arrived from Puno, we just walked the cliff tops in Miraflores for the views. It was amazing to be back at sea level, and not think about breathing. Of course we had ceviche, and Pisco sours.

We visited with my Canadian sister too.

Friday night we gathered informally for drinks and then went out for dinner. It ended up being another late night so we slept in on Saturday.

Then we decided to try to see the historical center of Lima, since we'd never been. The hotel wanted to charge us $45 each way for a taxi. That's nuts.

So my SIL showed us an app which is Lima's equivalent of Uber. We got a ride to within 2 blocks of Plaza des Armes for S30...about $8!

The whole Plaza was fenced off amd there was.a strong police presence. Apparently they're trying to prevent massive protests. But on the plus side, pictures were easier to take!

The empty Lima sign seemed like a missed photo op. But then I saw a short line at the fence, and the police were letting small groups through for pictures! We seized the opportunity to have it to ourselves!

We toured the convent of St. Francis and its catacombs. Knowing how bad the traffic was, I pushed lunch back 30 minutes but finding a ride back to Miraflores was still challenging!

Eventually we found a willing driver but it took him 10 minutes to get just a few blocks to where we were. We had to walk down the street through stopped traffic, to find and get in his car before cars started moving. An adventure!

But he was a great driver and got us to lunch close enough to our reservation time. We enjoyed some great dishes. Mariscos al fuego.

Tiradito Ají Pasión.

We walked 5 minutes back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding party.

After my brother and SIL renewed their vows the party started in earnest. Hours of non-stop Latin music and endless dancing. I got to give him a gentle roast which was fun. The party was supposed to go until 1AM but we left early.

Work tomorrow. Wish us luck!

The July crossword menu for Black Tartan Kitchen had its debut Friday night.  We're booked for Friday this week.

Here is a clue for #1 Across.....

Black Tartan Kitchen Post.....

Everybody: "These hot days call for refreshingly chilled gazpacho." 🍅
Black Tartan: "...but, like, the soup should have tomato/ jalapeno sorbet in it, and the sorbet should be wearing a fascinator made of olives; adorned with tiny edible flowers that might resemble a mouse's wedding bouquet"
Everybody: ...😶
Black Tartan: "serve it in a bowl made of rock"
Everybody "well, this is freakin' delicious"

On most cruise ships there is a sign near the toilet warning you not to deposit a variety of items, usually ending with "and foreign objects."  This raises [but does not 'beg'] the question:  how do you determine what are 'domestic objects,' which would apparently be all right to flush as long as they aren't on the enumerated list?  Are they from the flag country of the ship, or the home country of the ship line, or your home country, or where you boarded?  Enquiring minds want to know!!!  😉

Safe travels back for Chris and J.P.  Yes, you will need "Lots of Luck" tomorrow in return to work.  You have done much at high elevations, with long flights, etc.  Love the visuals, summaries, details, etc.  Great, as always, sharing!!  Fun to travel along.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Cute and true observation by Mr. Luxury.  To complicate the challenges for Chris and J.P. in flying back from Lima and dealing with tomorrow, here is a current NYC headline: Sunday storms dump 7 inches of rain to parts of NY, bringing major flooding risk" with this sub-headline: "Heavy rain will be in and out Sunday and into Monday morning as a slow-moving front slides through the region.

You have done much at high elevations,

The elevation is sneaky. We were able to hike and climb at 16000+ feet while at Rainbow Mountain, without much of an issue.

But the high elevation definitely affected the quality of my sleep. And funny enough, when I bent over to put my shoes on, and tie them, at high altitude it made me suck wind. Once we got back to sea level, Chris and I both noticed that it was a complete non-issue.

So it's not just that I got fat from all the good food...though that's not helping!

I’m so regretting booking on the Edge for January 24. I Can only say that CC Celebrity passengers give me the distinct impression that they would barely pass a DNA test. What an absolute shower they are.

Are you in the Retreat?  You would be able to avoid nearly all the other passengers.

I’m in steerage eating potatoes. Apparently my window goes up and down and there are some festoons but apparently no drawers. Can these people even read? I Think they might be cannibals.
