Rare Laszlo Posted August 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2018 I thought about showing my eDocs PDF file on my iPhone for check in. Then I remember back their seems to be at least one person who wants to look at your paperwork before you get into the security line. This would be NYC. Has anyone used the PDF file on a smart phone to go thru security and check in?
martinchem Posted August 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2018 In December 2016 l showed My edoc pdf screen for my Jade cruise out of Tampa after contacting Norwegian by email about this. No problem at all.
GA Dave Posted August 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2018 I am really surprised that NCL has not gone to this on their app like all the airlines. It would make it so much easier to just pull up the iConcierge app and have the "boarding pass"/eDoc on your device. I never print boarding passes for Delta or AA anymore. PelicanBill Posted August 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2018 iConcierge links to your shipboard account, not your NCL account. It's a good idea but they'd need to redesign the app for Shoreside use with login to your myNCL account. I've seen numerous reports that you don't really need your eDocs. But I print them so I have the terms and conditions just in case of a significant change in the cruise and might want to refer to them.

I don't get either. iConcierge App or even a separate App would work. However considering their web site and App I think it would be 2-3 years away Lol I just got back from Croatia flying round trip on 5 different airlines using nothing but App's I even went thru customs in Newark using the Passport App.

We used our passports one time to check in, since someone forgot to bring our eDocs Lol. It wasn't a problem at all

Has anyone used the PDF file on a smart phone to go thru security and check in? We used to use our phones for museum entries until we went to a museum in an area that had bad cell service - couldn't even bring up the tickets - had to have the museum find our tickets in their system - never again

Rare BirdTravels Posted August 15, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 15, 2018 I never print boarding passes for Delta or AA anymore. Which is fine until TSA refuses one of your electronic passes,,,, and you’re walking back to the counter for a hard copy.

Has anyone used the PDF file on a smart phone to go thru security and check in? It has been years since I printed documents. There is no reason in the world to print them. You do not need them to check in and you can always show the guy at the door the ones on your phone. All NCL really wants area passport (or BC and ID) and a CC. They look you up that way anyway, and never look at the docs.
Rare lfreda Posted August 15, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 15, 2018 Wouldn't NCL need to see something besides a passport to direct you to Haven or Casino boarding? For the 20 seconds it takes to print out, I would prefer to have the papers in hand. As someone else said, I am old school.
poohdreaming Posted August 15, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 15, 2018 For me, all documents would have to be printed out. I do have a cellphone, but no internet access unless the place have free wifi. And even if the place have free wifi, sometimes the signal is bad that the bar code cannot be scanned. This happened at a Dunkin Donuts when I wanted to redeem for a drink. dcipjr Posted August 15, 2018 #17 Share Posted August 15, 2018 For our first cruise, in 2011, I forgot—we were on our honeymoon, and with all the hubbub surrounding the wedding, I didn’t get to print the eDocs before we left for the cruise. I didn’t have any problems besides some eye-rolls at the port (“You’re supposed to print these out...”).
Rare Best Cat Mom Posted August 15, 2018 #18 Share Posted August 15, 2018 We used only our passports to board the Jade in April in Miami. They did make sure that we knew our cabin number before they let us up to the security lines, however.
