Tampa Parking RCCL pier

Recommended Posts

We have always flown in and had a shuttle drop us off...but this time we are driving. Booked last minute and flights are too expensive - more than our cruise fare.

Anyway, how is the parking? Has anyone ever done the Valet parking? If so, how does that work?

If you self park, do you drop off luggage first and then park?

Valet parking is convenient and the runners are very quick to retrieve your car after the cruise. If you self park, you can drop your bags off first, and then park. Depending on which terminal your ship is at, the parking is either in the garage across the street, or in the open lot across the driveway from the terminal.

We parked ourselves. No big deal and a very short walk over to the pier. We did get there early enough that they weren't letting traffic in to drop off luggage yet or do valet so we ended up pulling out luggage across the street with us but it wasn't an issue. There are cops there directing traffic, both auto and pedestrian. I think it was 11 before they opened up the drop off area, unlike most ports where you can drop off while people are also leaving. Now, we probably wouldn't go out of Tampa again, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

Thanks. Decided to do the self park. I have a big truck and I am not comfortable with Valet parking. Love the option and have used it at hotels, but that is totally different. Usually only a couple of people checking in at one time, not thousands.

Went ahead a purchased the parking pass too. So we are all set! Interesting to read that they do not open up the luggage drop off until 11am though. We usually get to the ports around 10 or 10:30 so we might be carrying our luggage. But it is only a 5 day cruise so not much luggage this time. Cuba here we come....on 12 days!

We used 241 Car Services back in April. Right across the street from Rhapsody. Gated and locked. Friendly folks. Older gentleman named Eddie is a great ambassador and a pleasure to talk to. Much cheaper than what the Port of Tampa charges. Using them again for our repeat cruise on Rhapsody in January.
