mylifecompleted Posted August 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2018 So i just got a new car and now I REALLY don't want to leave my car in the port or drive it that far (orlando to miami on a lease). I was looking at rentals and i can do 2 one way rentals for about what i would pay to park, but then the car seat issue comes into play. Does anyone know if there is a storage place that they will hold it for the length of the cruise or do i have to keep it in my cabin?
Clarea Posted August 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2018 The rental car companies will supply a car seat.
mylifecompleted Posted August 29, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted August 29, 2018 The rental car companies will supply a car seat. Yes, they will. However, you do not know how safe they are as if a seat has even been in a fender bender, it shouldn't be used. My kid's life isn't something I want to risk that on. Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2018 The rental car companies will supply a car seat. please-please-please don't ever advise anybody to rely on a rental car seat. You never know if they've been in an accident, puked or peed on and then improperly cleaned, if cleaned at all, if the straps were ever submerged in water or run through the washer. Never ever use your or somebody else's child as a crash test dummy. OP, I stored a Britax Frontier in the closet along with two large suitcases without any problems. And it's a huge, 25# seat. How old is your child, how tall and heavy? What car seat do you have? YES to all of that lol. I really don't want to use someone else's seat. She is 4, about 35lbs 45". I have a Gracco Extend to fit so she is rear facing still. Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2018 you can put your seat on a magna type cart (about $25), secure it with bungee cords and wheel it through the port onto the ship. The kid can even ride in it:
laurasue Posted August 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2018 We stored our car seat in our room on Radiance. It takes up space but it was fine. We are cruising Allure in October and will be taking our Britax Frontier then as well. Look into the car seat wheels you can buy (we have the Go Go Babyz) - not only does it make toting the car seat easier but it also can serve as a stroller in a pinch (through airports, etc). Pro tip: store your suitcases under the bed, it will give you more room in the closet for the car seat.

Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 29, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Look into the car seat wheels you can buy (we have the Go Go Babyz). just a tip: a magna cart works just as well and can usually be found for about $25 at your local stores. Just make sure to get one with larger weight limit. 25# seat + a 45# kiddo...

We paid $20 for ours and it has gone on many the adventure over the past 5 years! ;) It’s amazing how a set of wheels turns the dreaded car seat into something my kids can’t wait to hop on and ride! Mikeandliz Posted August 29, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Your cost of the rental would most likely exceed the excess milage charges at the lease end. At an average .20 per mile thats $100, and that going round trip Miami-orlando. And reputable car rental excluding FOX, and those other no frills car rental co’s. Your cost, one way surcharge, sunpass activation, car seat rental. Thats assuming you don’t purchase any additional add on’s. Will cost you more. Why lease a car, and not enjoy it. It’s madness. Sent from my iPad using Forums well considering the car is 3 days old, I don't want to do that. I would like to save the excess miles for things that I cannot avoid. It actually will cost me LESS to do 2 one way rentals than pay for parking for my new car to sit in the garage in Miami. Parking is $88, 2 one way rentals, PLUS uber to/from the port is $

Sent from my iPad using Forums You never know. In November of 2016 we rented a one-way FLL to MCO car from Alamo, and the TOTAL was $16. Unlimited mileage. This was after a cruise and I couldn't find reasonably priced airline tickets out of FLL, so we drove to MCO for 3 hours for a very low price. I don't know what happened, but when I was making a reservation, all of the car rental companies had prices like that on expedia, so it wasn't a fluke with just Alamo. Yes, we paid a bit in tolls, but it wasn't an exorbitant amount of money and you'd have to pay them even with your own car. SHE IS NOT GOING TO RENT THE CAR SEAT. gatour Posted August 29, 2018 #19 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Since you have a leased car this probably does not apply to you esp. if you are gonna turn it in when the lease expires. You shouldn't drive a car for extended trips at steady highway speeds for the first 1000 miles of owning a new car. It needs to be a variaty of different speeds. Think driving around town on surface streets and some highway driving. I doubt RCCL will store the car seat for you. As other say, put your suitcases under the bed and the seat in the closet. well considering the car is 3 days old, I don't want to do that. 2wheelin Posted August 29, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Add gas and tolls to that $73 Have to pay that even if driving own car. Rental gas could be cheaper if they rent an economy size.

Dred pilot Roberts Posted August 29, 2018 #22 Share Posted August 29, 2018 The best multi function car seat is the Sit “N” Stroll. http://lillygold.com/ I had one and it lasted through 2 kids tons of airline/car trips and was still going strong after about 8 years of use.
