mykeb14 Posted August 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2018 We are looking to book another b2b in April next year would you choose Freeport or princess cays and why? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
sail2sea Posted August 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2018 Freeport can be quite interesting if you are into industrial ports like I am. There is a great beach called gold rock that is very nice. Princess Cay is a standard cruise company made private beach but not as nice as half moon key. I prefer Freeport

teknoge3k Posted August 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Everyone has their own opinion. Mine is, we won't book any cruises going to Freeport or Nassau. They're dumps and we prefer Caribbean ports. Again, matter of opinion.
cb at sea Posted August 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2018 I'm not a huge fan of the Bahamas, either. I, too, prefer the Caribbean ports...which the Bahamas are not.

They're dumps and we prefer Caribbean ports. Again, matter of opinion. Yeah, I agree with you in that I would not want to go there again. Just not indicative of how beautiful the Bahamas really are. If you want a true Bahamas experience, get thee to Exuma. GORGEOUS. Oh my heart... OP, we love a B2B on the same ship, same cabin (if possible), but I wouldn't want to book if the ship goes there twice. There is so much more out there to see in the big ol' world... Princess Cays is a tender port and the day we went there, the tenders were so busy with 3000 passengers, that we decided just to stay on board ship. Sometimes, they skip that port altogether due to weather and high seas. *shrug* No offense, but I'd say it's a crap shoot either port. Are these your only choices? What line and ship? . mykeb14 Posted August 30, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted August 30, 2018 It’s on carnival liberty and the friend I’m booking with really wants to go the Bahamas but I will show her all these and see if I can convince her to do the Caribbean Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Honestly if I had the choice of going to Nassau/Freeport or going to some random US city for the same amount of time, I would pick the US city and skip the Bahamas. I would tell your friend to save her money or go to the Caribbean.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 30, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2018 Many, many years ago before Cruise Critic came along, we booked a cruise with Freeport and Nassau on the itinerary -- horrible. We had no one to warn us to not bother with those ports.

Rare Hlitner Posted August 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2018 We are big fans of the Bahamas because we simply treat it as a sea day and stay on a near empty ship :). Hank
marco Posted August 30, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 30, 2018 In either case...I'd stay on the ship and enjoy it's amenities.
Theosprey247 Posted August 30, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 30, 2018 At the port area of Freeport there are bars, shops, and restaurants, however if you want to see or do something a taxi is required. Nassau has plenty of things to see and do within walking distance. Princesses Cay is beautiful, but requires a tender and the beach has some rocks so water shoes are a good idea.
