AtlantaCruiser72 Posted August 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2018 I just received an email with the following statement from Princess: In just over 200 days,Royal Princess® will arrive on the west coast for her firstfull season based in Los Angeles. Following a multi-million dollar wet docktaking place later this year, guests can experience the newly revitalized ship, including the award-winning Princess Luxury Bed, on sailings to the MexicanRiviera, California Coast or our iconic Alaska Voyage to the Glaciers! Does anyone have any idea what changes/updates they are planning on making during the Wetdock?
fishywood Posted August 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Well it is only seven days (December 1 to 8) so adding a Promenade and/or Terrace Pool doesn't seem likely... Guessing strictly cosmetics.
Micahs Grandad Posted August 31, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hmm what is a wetdock anyway?
fishywood Posted August 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hmm what is a wetdock anyway? Ship will go to a facility for repairs/touch-ups but no below-the-waterline work. So no need for drydock to expose the hull.
Kamloops50 Posted August 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Maybe an upgrade to the engine scrubber system,
Colo Cruiser Posted August 31, 2018 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Hmm what is a wetdock anyway? Stays in the water tied up to the dock.
Colo Cruiser Posted August 31, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Maybe an upgrade to the engine scrubber system, Gawd I hope not. The last one made it worse.
mojomorris Posted August 31, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Judging from what OP included, I would be satisfied with "the award-winning Princess Luxury Bed" improvement.:D
chengkp75 Posted August 31, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Shipping companies are limited in the number of port calls the fleet can make at California ports before they have to convert to using shore power while in port. With Princess adding another ship to the West Coast (I don't know if they are moving a ship out or not), this may be the time that they are installing the shore power connection. skynight Posted August 31, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Believe Princess has to lower the stacks to be able to fit under the bridge in Vancouver. Maybe some of that work is will be done.

rkacruiser Posted August 31, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Am I correct that she will have experienced her wet dock prior to my December 29, 2018 cruise? I think that is what I understand the message says. If so, so much for the good.
Jimorel Posted September 11, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 11, 2018 So does anybody have an idea what happens to the last cruise before the "wetdock"? I booked a cruise on the Royal last week and didn't know it was going to "wetdock. I wonder if that will have any effect on our cruise, such as short supplies on anything. Kamloops50 Posted September 11, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 11, 2018 Its a normal cruise. The only issue they might start doing some of the maintenance .
Snooptoo Posted September 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 18, 2018 I am very happy about the Princess beds! I was able to sleep on the Princess bed back in March on the Ruby Princess. It is a wonderful night sleep. I even had a couple naps! LOL I am lucky to be on the first cruise after wetdock December 8th.
Haboob Posted September 19, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 19, 2018 I would give odds the wetdock will include adding a MEO satellite dish (if it's not done before then), allowing a shift to broadband internet aboard. They don't call it "Medallion Net" on non-***** cruises -- look for "PrincessCONNECT".
