Buoy65 Posted September 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2018 I can't get an answer out of NCL about travel documentation for cruise from LA to Baja. I am assuming that my travel card will do. My passport has expired and will renew soon. Just wondering...First time NCL Cruiser..

A passport, obviously in a valid state since not valid if expired, is good anywhere!
asubaru Posted September 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2018 If you're refering to a Passport Card, then yes. From: Travel.State.Gov. Entering the United States at land border crossings and sea ports-of-entry from: Canada Mexico The Caribbean Bermuda The passport card cannot be used for international air travel. The passport card is Real ID compliant and can be used for domestic air travel. I can't get an answer out of NCL about travel documentation for cruise from LA to Baja. Sauer-kraut Posted September 23, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2018 You can even cruise on just your CERTIFIED birth certificate and a driver's license.
Nola26 Posted September 23, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2018 An expired passport is worthless. Actually it isn't worthless. I lost my Passport last year, but had an old, expired passport and was able to use that as ID for the new passport. Thank goodness as I was only about a week out from an international business trip. The US Passport card will work for the ship and customs upon return to the US. However, if there is an emergency the Passport card isn't valid for air travel outside the US. Those kind of emergencies are rare, so the Passport card is probably good enough 99% of the time. When I replaced my passport last year I also got a card for the first time. I'll likely use the card especially for the ID I carry off the ship, but will likely have my passport in the safe.
casofilia Posted September 23, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 23, 2018 If you are visiting a foreign country it is always safer to carry a full passport.
