I'm diamond and traveling with someone who is gold.  Separate cabins.  Is the only way to board together for me to wait with her?  If it matters this is for the Anthem.

Depends on port personnel.  If they will not let your friends stay with you, then you stay with the golds.  Difference is probably no more than 10 minutes.

If you get there at the right time, there might be a 10 min difference.....technically, you will board before them, as you'll be in a separate line.  If they're not busy, they might allow them to tag along with you.  Not a big deal either way.

We were just on the Allure and we are Emerald, friends that cruised with us were Gold and had no problem boarding with us.

We boarded Allure on 9/16 and it took about an hour after checking in  for us to get onboard, but our family that are Gold were another 1 1/2 hours getting on. They segregated everyone, could not go outside your level. Worst boarding ever, VERY slow.
