deliver42 Posted November 8, 2018 #26 Share Posted November 8, 2018 You can call guest services if you know for sure who is doing it, and they will send security. Most of the time you can't know for sure because of the way the wind blows.

But overall there was very little smoke and it was similar to a Celebrity ship smoke wise. Lol, I have smelled that occasionally too, lol 24 minutes ago, NLH Arizona said: Don't know if this will ever happen. I would like to see no smoking in the casino and then a couple outside enclosed areas for smoking. I agree, or at least what the bliss had, an enclosed area for smokers. But why should non smokers and the dealers have to deal with all of that smoke. I feel so sorry for the dealers. Sometimes you can see the smoke blowing right in their face and they aren't even aloud to say anything. That's when I will say something to the smoker. I used to be quite a heavy smoker, but I would always step away. I was never rude about it, Even when I smoked the casinos were too much. And I love to gamble
rocklinmom Posted November 8, 2018 #28 Share Posted November 8, 2018 It sucks to pay tons of money for a balcony or minisuite and not be able to use the balcony because of smoke. It's happened to us too and we couldn't tell where it was coming from. Very noticeable though and we had to go back inside. I don't understand why smokers don't just use the smoking areas. I get it, you'd like to smoke on your balcony, but it's a rule and a safety issue. And it unfairly affects the people around you. Maybe if it happens again I will go out on our balcony and blast the Mamma Mia soundtrack to drive the smokers back inside (unless like me they enjoy that, then I would need a plan B music choice). It shouldn't have to come to that though, we are all on a cruise to enjoy ourselves! Just follow the rules please.
parkslopegal Posted November 8, 2018 #29 Share Posted November 8, 2018 We just recently got off Gem. I am asthmatic. There was the smell of cigarettes and cigars in many areas of the ship including our balcony. We went to the library one sea day, looking for some quiet time and had to leave because of the smell of cigarettes and the library is next to the spa/fitness center! The sun deck smelled of smoke as did Magnums Champagne Bar where we liked listen to music. Our clothes even smelled of smoke on some night. It’s a problem. No smoking stations, no smoking in the casino. If you were caught smoking your account would be billed $500.00 I applaud them for it, hopefully it will happen That rumor has been floating around for some time. Although I would like to see it for the health benefit of all guests and crew, I doubt that NCL will go that far....unless some other mainstream line does it first, gets praised for it, and it works financially.

I'm aware the policy is no smoking allowed on balconies, but I'm looking for opinions on how well this is enforced. Anyone ever have a problem with a neighbor smoking on their balcony and NCL was not able to solve the problem? smoking is a big problem on ships, probably the most substantial problem with the industry. We just got off the breakaway, smoking in the casino permeates other areas, smoking at the h2o bar makes the whole area off limits to non smokers, the most primed area to be on the ship is the pool well smokers literally have the best prime location to smoke right next to the pool, they get to smoke deck 17 bar area, they get to smoke on the promenade and the smoke rushes in. smokers rule the ships
3kidsncats Posted November 12, 2018 #33 Share Posted November 12, 2018 I'm fairly sensitive to second hand smoke, so I do avoid the casino areas. We had a balcony issue with the guy next door, snapped a photo of his hand on the railing with lit cigarette in hand. Showed it to the Butler, indicated the cabin number, and never had the problem again. I spent way too much on that trip to not be able to enjoy my balcony. We also had issue with trying to do walking laps on the Promenade, as there is a smoking section aft (Jewel). It was a designated smoking area, so no reason to file a complaint. But, it was frustrating that they put it right where people would be walking or jogging for exercise.
Sue Do-Over Posted December 18, 2018 #34 Share Posted December 18, 2018 Like many things, there is a big range of sensitivity. The Epic casino, in three sections, allows smoking throughout. The smell is strongest in one section (closest to the Casino Host) and it's always terrible, but the other two areas are generally fine, at least for me. With the exception of the occasional chain-smoker, that is. It would have been LOVELY if said chain-smoker had been asked to consider the smoking table just around the corner... but the staff never does. At least they prohibit cigars!!
