Anything that brings more ship's to Brisbane is a good thing.

Mr&MrsCookie Posted November 8, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2018 They had a story on the news tonight which mentioned that Portside would remain open for the smaller ships when the new one opens. I thought Portside was closing?

I thought Portside was closing? No, the smaller ships like those from Azamara, Crystal, Regent, Seabourn and Viking will still be using Portside. I suppose this is to keep Luggage Point free for the big boys.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 8, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2018 Great stuff, good for cruisers all over Australia as it will maintain a ship presence here.
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 8, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 8, 2018 A couple observations from the video and I know I am just being picky, but so many of the people in the footage (and if that represents embarkation day, they got that totally wrong) are dressed in suits. hardly Queensland embarkation clothing. I have cruised QM2 and there were less suits on formal night. I suppose the building and carparks just don't seem to be large enough for the possible crowds going through the place, especially if there is a second ship on the day. And a few more ............ Where is all the luggage? Where are the carry on/day bags? All those people waiting to check in and not 1 piece of paperwork in anyone's hand, c'mon a cruise without paperwork, surely you jest!! Where are the 'guides' to assist pax? Why do none of the pax has a smile on their dial? Where are the zimmer frames and wheelie walkers? Where are the congregations of bucks/wedding groups and/or footy teams? Where are the unaccompanied annoying kids scrambling under people's feets????? Sheesh - and they want us to believe their spin!!!!! 😎

NSWP Posted November 9, 2018 #16 Share Posted November 9, 2018 I have not perused the details of this new terminal, so what is the max tonnage/beam/length of ships that can be berthed?

Rare MicCanberra Posted November 12, 2018 #22 Share Posted November 12, 2018 Possibly except for in the water, I have never heard of a sea camel after all.
