Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2018 Sooo, I decided to post after all. I probably won't be as prolific as my other reviews but I do want to hit a few things so why not do a live-ish review until I get too irritated with posting. First off, do NOT get to Yacht Club early if you need a wheelchair. I was eventually able to get mom situated but she wound up standing for longer then I would have liked. Now I have food so will post some pics shortly.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 8, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted December 8, 2018 We had a little bit of time the VIP lounge before boarding and then mom led the way when we boarded. I was able to get her walker from the room since both that and the scooter from Special Needs at Sea had been delivered already. I was also able to book the pre-purchased massage times right in the Yacht Club as well. We had lunch there and Ryan for our waiter. Right now we're having dinner and he's once again our waiter and I think we will stick with him. Sushi maki appetizer. Mom had the nicsisioe howeverthehellyouspellit salad. And Ryan heard me talking about the dessert cheese and brought us out a small plate of it as a starter. Sooo good.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted December 9, 2018 Let's see if shrinking the photo size helps with uploading. Yeah, they upload faster now but it's just another step. I really miss being able to use Tapatalk. Rissotto Beef dish for mum. Veal snichtizel for me.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) I'm going to get the apple crumble and then mom and I will go down to Venchi for dessert drinks. I already had a great one there, the La Poire which was excellent. Cripes even Instagram photos are taking forever to upload. I didn't realize they had other drinks at Venchi that weren't chocolate. That looks yummy!
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted December 9, 2018 Our bartender at Venchi this morning wasn't kidding when he said it "exploded" down there after dinner. A lot of people hanging down here and we're waiting to put in a drink order with a server.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted December 9, 2018 I can confirm the dinner buffet is pretty lackluster. If you're not looking for pizza, pasta, hot dogs, and hamburgers or some cold cuts or salad you will be disappointed. On the plus side the pizza is good and the mashed potatoes are real since they have lumps. Good sop-up-the-alcohol food. Speaking of, here's the Chocolate Martini no 2 I had. It was fantastic. I don't have a picture of mom's hot chocolate because she tore into it as soon as it hit the table.
Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted December 9, 2018 One last cocktail before bed. A Blackberry Mist from the Wine and Cocktails bar by all the specialty restaurants. Sadly they don't have the smoke for the smoked cocktails so it's missing the lavender smoke but still good. Then there's this guy. Dressed in Santa pajamas and handing out candy in the buffet. And no, I don't think he was staff. I've been taking pics of drink menus so I'll post them tomorrow after I charge my phone.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted December 9, 2018 We're up and at breakfast. I forgot how long it takes mom to get ready in the morning but at least I had the espresso machine. The CC meet and greet is at 10am today and the YC cocktail hour at 11am. I had eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon while mom got gravlox and a bagel. No pics of mom's because she tuck right into it.

Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #14 Share Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) Meet and greet was really nice. The officers were in a recieving line when we came in; drinks and canapes were free flowing. The introduction and Captain's speech was short and then people were invited up for a group photo with the captain. They certainly weren't stingy with the drinks, I wound up with three of them. Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #15 Share Posted December 9, 2018 The YC cocktail hour is very pleasant. They have a pianist and violinist playing and the butlers bringing drinks around. Oh, and we've made friends with another mother-daughter traveling pair from Australia. They are a delight. Rare CoffeeGoddess Posted December 9, 2018 Author #16 Share Posted December 9, 2018 After shopping with mom and lunch at the pool grill I'm down in the Topsail Lounge chilling, resizing photos, drinking, and hopefully reading after this post. Here's the Topsail Menu.

mizzoufinal4 Posted December 9, 2018 #20 Share Posted December 9, 2018 Is there no wines listed on the topsail menu that are included?
xcell Posted December 9, 2018 #21 Share Posted December 9, 2018 For YC -- are those drinks on the menu free? Or is there a dollar value you can order? I was specifically looking at the Japanese whiskey.
kevinrobedm Posted December 9, 2018 #22 Share Posted December 9, 2018 In the YC anything with a price on the menu was "extra" anything without a price was free (included). They did have quite a large selection of premium liquors and wines but once you left the YC you could only get what each of the bars had at their locations. Até Posted December 9, 2018 #24 Share Posted December 9, 2018 It's interesting that Connoisseur's Selection by the bottle is the same pricing, but by the glass and shot pricing went up. Encouraging people to buy Premium Plus in YC? Could you ask if there will be a special upgrade price for YC to Premium Plus, or would it be the same as Premium to Premium Plus at $17pp/d? Old YC drink prices for reference: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2501896-yacht-club-dining-room-menu/?tab=comments#comment-53947588

You just reminded me, the bartender in the YC did ask if I wanted to upgrade to Premium Plus when I was asking him what I could still get under the old program and he said it was around $16 or $17 per day to do it. He was going to get me the actual cost but then we went to lunch and I've been happy with what I've had so haven't asked again. Everything so far my mom and I have gotten has been free.
