Got to give you credit VT, you are trying so hard to sell this ship against all the negatives 😉. Perhaps X ought to put you on the marketing team :classic_laugh:.

Thanks for the job recommendation, but I don't think I would want that position. 🙂

Learning about the Edge and watching her being built has been my hobby for the last 2 years. As hcat said, I finally was able to have 7 days onboard and spent the majority of the time exploring the ship, taking photos and answering questions on my live thread. It actually felt like I took her apart bit by bit, looking at each area in a clinical way.

This thread is an example. It didn't hit me until the 3rd or 4th time that I went to the OVC that this is actually a different OVC. I have always disliked the buffets on ships. I have slowly warmed up to X's OVC's, but this one seemed to stand out. It had a different feeling than the others. I actually had a relaxing interlude there and noticed that other people were relaxed and happy there and wanted to report on it. If it had been poorly laid out, had crowded tables or less choices, I would have reported that as well, but so far all seemed great in the OVC.

I am generally not a negative person - we all know people who love the drama of reporting every minor negative they find. I have reported several things about the ship that I feel are flaws (and have done so for many months on the Edge Forum as she was built). Yes, when I find things I like about the Edge I report on it with passion, but believe me, my eyes are open and this next cruise will likely help us decide about whether we will continue to sail the Edge class.  Every ship has negatives, and for me, it is about balance. Will the overall beauty of this ship, her gorgeous art, amazing food (and lovely OVC 😉) and top notch staff be enough to overcome some of the things we were unhappy with on this ship (I've written about those several times on this board)? I'll let you know on January 27th and will enjoy the ride no matter what! 😊

There was discussion about this when the EDGE threads were moved into  Celeb thread...maybe Moderators can add EDGE to the titles.

In this thread, the photos are a helpful  clue .

Seems like that should have been done when they were merged in. I guess they could do it on a per-thread basis now where necessary.

All the negatives??

As I read it, some dont like the IV cabins, some dont like the performers in Eden, the shows are a bit average etc. By looking at the pictures, there looks to be a lot to love. We were getting a bit tired of the same old things on the Solstice class ships, so Edge will be a refreshing change. After our last cruise, we had decided to give cruising a break for a while, but we booked the Edge in the meditteranean in May as it looked to be so different.

Merry Christmas to all. Happy cruising and may your glasses be at least half full!

It does look great.  But...I don't see much shade outside, where I like to take my food.  And it looks like there is not a bar?  That's not very convenient....

Yeah, that's interesting about not having a bar out there. But there's one right upstairs. Also there's Il Secondo Bacio inside, which presumably has alcohol. I am sure there will be just as many bar waiters walking around to sell drinks. You've got the whole area against the glass (where the bar used to be) that is shaded. And it just seem like you're looking for stuff to complain about, IMHO. But given the prices they're getting (or trying to) for Edge, I think they're finding plenty of people to sail on Edge, even if some people don't care for it.

They obviously aren’t if they are able to give away free cruises this early in the game.

As on most boards people would rather complain then talk about the positive aspects of their cruise experiences. No cruise or ship is perfect so I have no expectations and will never be disappointed. I am just happy to be at sea and experience everything the ship has to offer.

Several have received offers, as hcat stated. Check out post #50 and #61 on the link below, there have been others too on different threads that also said they’d received the emails.

I agree wholeheartedly with you VT.  The Oceanview is a very nice place to hang out.  I thought that it would a popular place for games and just hanging out when not in dining mode.  The outside area is particularly nice, since it is much more peaceful without a bar there.  I can vision it being a great place to sit after getting a drink from above in the Sunset bar, since there are stairs there.

Nice to know.... I did not notice the stairs back there. I loved the Ocean View Cafe.... great views.... spacious.... easy to get around. I like the OV on S class ships as well. We liked going up there.
