Eskylady Posted January 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2019 (edited) Hello, I just received an upsell offer for the February 9th sailing on Ruby Princess. I currently have an B4 aft Stateroom B756, and the upsell is to a Club Class mini for $199 per person. Truthfully I expect this is a non-issue, because they probably have been taken already. Honestly if I didn't have a true aft stateroom which I always wanted to try, I would've probably snatched it up in an instant as I am very much looking forward to the wake view every day, (5 days), but am sort of thinking maybe I should've jumped on that offer. I am also concerned I could become such a spoiled beast I'll always want Club Class and not be satisfied with anything less. Thoughts?? Thanks! I would imagine the CC mini would be on Dolphin deck which has an uncovered balcony.
DrivesLikeMario Posted January 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2019 Totally agree. Stay where you are. That isn't that great of a price $398 more for a 5 day cruise IMO.
JoRoy218 Posted January 11, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2019 Aft balcony, you won’t regret it! We had one recently on the CB, Baja and in April on the Crown, Caribe. Loved it! You made the right decision, IMHO.
memoak Posted January 11, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2019 It sounds like a bit more than I would pay but I have to say that the Club Class dining is to die for
miss prairie girl Posted January 11, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2019 I would stay where you are. You have a better cabin, as you said, for the view. The upsell we took was from Oceanview to Window Suite about a week before the cruise at a very reasonable price. Happy cruising!
Eskylady Posted January 12, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Thank you so much for everyone that took the time to read and respond. I hate second guessing myself so it's nice to have that feedback. Aft, here I come. 🐵 Kelly
kenexx Posted January 12, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2019 As one of the few people here for whom an aft balcony holds zero attraction I’d have jumped all over that offer.
Thrak Posted January 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2019 I would definitely turn it down. I wouldn't even have to think about it at all.
Rare hllwdcruiser Posted January 12, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2019 I had the same question a few weeks back (although for less $$ pp and only to a regular mini not cc) and kept my aft balcony. As someone mentioned a while ago on these boards, if the upsell to club class is more than the cost of eating in a specialty restaurant every night then don't take it. I thought this was really good advice. I'd love to try club class one day but the price has to be right.
Rare TracieABD Posted January 12, 2019 #11 Share Posted January 12, 2019 I think this is pretty spendy for a 5 day cruise. I do love an upsell... but would probably stay put for this one!
onboard2005 Posted January 12, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 12, 2019 We are on this same cruise. Have had 2 upsell offers. Inside to a balcony and then to an obstructed OV. This is a 5 day cruise and the cabin we have is in a great location- close but not at the elevators and midship. Don't spend much time in the cabin to warrant the extra $$$ for 5 days. When speaking to the person she said they were way oversold. You'll love the wake view! Enjoy the cruise! Tai
akeasley Posted January 12, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Slightly off topic but I didn't think Princess was doing 5 day cruises anymore in the Caribbean. I had gone on one in 2017 and thought it was the last one since they weren't very popular. Glad to see they're continuing!
