Biffire Posted February 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2019 I have a question about docking in Bermuda. When we were in Bermuda last year, we docked on the starboard, side, but that was the Dawn. Can anyone tell me if they use the Port side or Starboard for the Escape at the Royal Naval Dockyard? We booked starboard rooms, so we can watch people come and go. Biffire
Paul Bogle Posted February 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2019 We explored this same question when we sailed Breakaway to Bermuda in 2017. Our sailing was one of the ones during the America's Cup races and we wanted to be able to watch the events from our balcony. What we discovered was that the ship could dock either way. Since we had two cabins we decided to book one on each side near the forward elevators so we could easily move between them. I wish I could give you a more definitive answer but I can't. Perhaps someone else has better insight into Escape but since it is nearly the same ship just slightly larger I think it will be subject to a similar pattern as Breakaway. Biffire Posted February 3, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2019 Thanks for the quick answer, it might be Captains choice B
Rare shof515 Posted February 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2019 It up to the captain to decided on which side they will use to dock. All the times i cruised to Bermuda, the ship always docked port side.

esm54687 Posted February 3, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2019 Completely random from a passenger's point of view because it's based on many things..... maintenance, life boat drills, weather, ships steering controls, security etc.
Biffire Posted February 3, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted February 3, 2019 Thanks everyone, I guess I will find out in June, looking forward to relaxing on the Escape. B

Since Bermuda is only port the Escape calls at, direction the ship is docking is random depending on the ship's requirements.
LSU Tiger Posted February 3, 2019 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2019 Been to Bermuda twice. Booked starboard side the first time and port side the second time. Guessed wrong both times. We will see what happens in May.
1025cruise Posted February 3, 2019 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2019 As has been said, flip a coin. This is something that can change week to week.
dexddd Posted February 3, 2019 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2019 It was usually 3/4 port side thenAmerica Cup year mostly starboard. Some people have exact for prior years. Last year I kept track and it was more starboard.

I have been watching PTZtv webcams for almost the past year to figure this one out as well. Seems like 75% of the time it is the starboard side. I guess it just depends on the mood that given day!
