Elegant Night Dress

Question for those who do prefer to dress up on Elegant night.  Does it bother you that people go to the shows (predominately the main theater and comedy club) in say shorts or jeans and polo shirts?  I'm not talking about the dining room at all, just other areas of the ship.

I'm bothered by the dandy in top hat and tails in front of me in the show lounge who's blocking my view.

The dress code for elegant night, which Carnival usually doesn’t enoforce, only applies to the MDRs.

Yes, I knew that was the case.  However, the reason I asked was something that happened last year on one of our cruises.  My wife and I were behind a couple in the comedy club.  He was wearing a Tux and she was wearing a nice formal gown.  They were having a conversation about the dress (shorts) of some folks just over from them.  It was obvious that they didn't like the fact they were allowed to be in the theater in shorts on elegant night.

If you aren’t into cruising where the majority of passengers tend to dress more on the casual side, you probably shouldn’t cruise on Carnival.

Well, we don't put on the Ritz, but when we go to the MDR on elegant night, we do make an effort to look nice. But, as soon as dinner is over, we are going back to the cabin and slipping into something a little more comfortable. So, we are not bothered at all by more casual attire like jeans, shorts t-shirts, etc; but we do think the daytime poolside attire needs to be retired in the evening.

Hubby and I dress to the nines for elegant night. After dinner and pictures

, we return to our cabin to change clothes for the evenings shows and activities.

Mr. Dandy, "Would you please remove your hat, your blocking my view."

Dressing for elegant night is fun for me because it’s something I don’t get to do at home. I enjoy feeling elegant for the evening, so I wear my dress to the shows and casino. So glad we can all do what we want on vacation.

Really good words that I completely agree with.
