Constellation in Venice Cruise Port

Which berth number does Connie usually use in Venice, please?  Thanks for your help.

My info. is dated as we did this cruise back in 2017...I can’t remember how many other ships were in port with us; that affects which berth is assigned. If you’re facing the 2 docks, we were on the right one, at the closest cruise terminal.

I believe no ship has a standard or fixed dock in Venice but they are all close together.

If you haven't already, come back to Venice when you are NOT on a cruise ship.  Totally better experience.

The notion that somebody only visits Venice in conjunction with a cruise is insulting if nothing else.

When we were there a couple of years ago the ship was birthed over night and Celebrity had a shuttle direct to St Marks Square. It was beautifully peaceful going through the streets and canals at night with virtually no tourists

We did that on our very first cruise (a 12 nighter with no prior sailing experience). Loved it so much that we’ve returned many times since. Brings make memories as our youngest celebrated his 5th birthday on board - my how the years fly past.

It can use any, in fact when we were on Celebrity Solstice for an overnight, the ship even changed berth while we were out for the evening.

We are planning to stay in Venice for 3 days after the cruise ends to see more of the sites and relax and enjoy the people. Any recommendations on what to do and places to stay, we don't want to do cheap but we don't want to break the bank either.

One of the off the beaten tourist sites, if you enjoy modern art, is visiting the Peggy Guggenheim museum....check it out on the internet....wonderful museum.  Of course, the incredible, must see, tourist sites are obvious from any guidebook.  We wouldn't put visiting Murano high on our list, but some think it's wonderful.  Visiting the Jewish ghetto is interesting...best with a walking tour (check viator).  That romantic gondola ride....$$$$$$$$'s....let your wallet (or spouse) be your judge.  Hotels....our preference is to be near piazo san marco, but most hotels are not too far a walk from there.  Take money....nothing in Venice is a bargain.

I'd recommend getting a guide book. We like  Rick Steves' books. He has a section listing hotels at different price points. We have stayed several times at Hotel Campiello, on a quiet side street close to the S. Zaccaria vaporetto stop and 5 min walk to S. Marco.

 

The book also rates the usual tourist sites and even has guided descriptions of some of the sites. 

 

PS, I wouldn't exactly call the Peggy Guggenheim "off the beaten track" lol.

Hello, I have a question a bit off topic.  Prior to sailing on the Constellation we are staying in Venice a few days at a hotel right off San Marco Square.  What is the best way to get to the pier ?  All replies are appreciated.

I would say fastest/convenient.

You say you are near San Marcos. Is your hotel on a canal? If so, then a private water taxi is probably the fastest way, but they are expensive.
