HolidayCruising Posted July 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Be careful of the Royal Caribbean Prime Day Sale I checked it out. Seems like a bait and switch to me. (IMOj their ad reads buy one deluxe beverage (small print shows a price of $49) get the second one for 50% off! Generally if I go online to .target, or Amazon or... I could buy something for $49 and then the second item would be $24.50. However on Royal Caribbean, This is NOT a buy one at $49 and buy the second one at $24.50 plus the 18% tip for a total of of approx $616 for a seven day cruise. No Their charge of ($49 *2)*1.18) *7= $809! I called them thinking it was a glitch in their computer system. No. Their answer is that the $49.00 is already discounted from their normal $63. Thus, both deluxe beverages are already on sale at a 25% discount thus together that equal a 50% discount. Wow, Don’t know who does their math there but here that doesn’t work in my business!
Rare Sea Dog Posted July 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2019 That is exactly why I don't pay any attention to the sales banners on their ads. I just look at the bottom line price and if I feel comfortable with that price I buy it. If it goes down again I always cancel and rebook. This alleviates me from having to do any of their fuzzy math in my head. Thanks for the heads up!
karena1 Posted July 15, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Always been that way. Just look at the price and that is what it is
not-enough-cruising Posted July 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 15, 2019 It says right on the ad “price reflects discount” not bait and switch at all

BunnyHutt Posted July 16, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2019 It’s always been that way - just like the BOGO fares have the reduced rate for the additional pax factored in when they show the “starting from” price listed on cabins.
GatorMomInNC Posted July 16, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 16, 2019 As someone new to RCCL, the term I would use for their sales is..bull****. Seriously, I get an email EVERY day about sales and everything is the same price as it was last week and the week before - except when they screwed up and had an $18 cost for the adult beverage package (which I missed). It is like the boy who called wolf. Just a big waste of my time, and while I am looking forward to our RCCL cruise in December, this is something I would defintely put in the "negative" column.
