Ncl Epic or Princess Regal

I’ve nevr been on either. Researching NCL (we are booked on Encore), I came across The regal and if I had not booked flights out of MIA in AM would have switched to princess. It all depends on what you are looking for. It’s just DH and I and we could care less about go karts, laser tag etc..if my boys (20 and 26) were joining us then NCL over princess. We are on Encore because DH wanted to try a new line and the idea of a new ship appealed to us. Happy Choosing!

Opinions? Which ship & why.

It might be easier to give information about yourself, who is sailing, what you all like to do, etc.  It would be easier to give an opinion on what YOU might like instead of others tastes.

Over Thanksgiving 2014 - We sailed first on the Regal Princess & then on the NCL Epic...  Side to Side

Regal was in Fort Lauderdale - Thanksgiving Cruise.  We then rented a car for the day & drove to Miami to hop on the Epic.

We truly enjoyed both.  Regal's food in the main dining room was better than Epic's.  We mostly ate in the Epic's Specialty Dining w/ the "Ultimate Dining Plan", they had at the time.  Both were Caribbean Cruises - Regal/Eastern & Epic/Western.

I would describe the Epic as a floating Las Vegas  --  more indoor activity - loved Howl @ the Moon.  We spent much more time outside on the Regal.  As Cole Thornton stated - it might be easier to assist - w/ more info as to what you are seeking...

Just to begin with please at least get the name of the ship correct - its Regal Princess.

If you like more entertainment then go NCL Epic

If you want to just chill out more then go Regal Princess

If you like a better variety of specialty dining go NCL Epic

If you want somewhat better behaved less pushy  passengers then maybe Regal Princess would have that on many cruises.

If you want a better drinks package usually at a lower price then NCL Epic. Promotions may vary.

We have 77 cruises on Princess ships and about 20 on NCL over 20 years and like them both in different ways.

We have been on both.....and it is Regal Princess hands down.  The Epic was the worst ship we have ever been on for lots of reasons......lack of windows, awful atrium, no WOW power when entering the ship, tight narrow hallways (a real hazard if you ever needed to evacuate), the bathroom set up is absurd (although we got used to it), mediocre food at best...........  VS. one of the BEST ships (Regal Princess) that we have ever sailed.  The food on Regal Princess was superb, even at buffet on Lido (they served all the same dishes as MDR - even lobster, tho not a tail, but in a made-to-serve pasta dish), a gorgeous ship, not nearly as crowded feeling as Epic and our best cruise EVER!

To us, there is NO comparison on these 2 ships......just our humble opinion!  Do try the Regal Princess!

Have been on both but not on Epic for a bit.  We truly like Princess better as it suits us more. Less children better food. But the best entertainment we ever had was on the Epic.

I don't think you can go wrong on any cruise as it is what you make it so have fun.

I havent been on NCL in a while (going on Star in October) but Regal Princess is one of my favorite ships in the Princess fleet (been on 20 Princess cruises).  Great food, service, layout.  Also the show Fiera is not to be missed.

Although I love the Epic, probably for the great itinerary, I have to agree with buddylover's description of the lack of view to the outside and the lack of a great atrium.  I can take the bathroom arrangement.  I can also cope with the casino being beside the dining room.  I don't cruise with young kids.  Also when I was on Coral Princess last year it took us 4 days to locate the casino (OK we were on an Alsaka cruise and we were so tired from the day time tours that we didn't try very hard).

I also have to admit that I have always had a balcony on the Epic.  The Western med route only has one sea day - so for the other days we come back from the day out and all we want is evening entertainment.   By the time we have eaten it is dark.

If you are considering a cruise with multiple sea days.  Hmm not sure
