Don Kehote Posted September 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2019 So let's assume it's around 3pm and I've hit my 15th drink. (It could happen.) I shift gears and decide that I'm going to power through the night in a caffeine fueled bender with a stop in at the coffee shop, or that energy drinks are the cure for what ails me. Does Cheers cut you off, after 15 Alcoholic drinks, completely...or are non-alcoholic drinks still available through Cheers?
firedisney97 Posted September 12, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Anything non-alcoholic is available, they just cut you off from alcoholic beverages
Barry ATL Posted September 12, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Only the alcoholic drinks count toward the 15. 15 by 3PM?? They would be rolling me on a stretcher back to my cabin to worship the Porcelain God. 3

Stick93 Posted September 12, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) If you are going to drink that much - buy double shots if possible which don't count towards your drinks and then you get more alcohol. If you are a beer drinker buy a bucket early in the day. Or (and this is up to the individual) hope your bunk mate needs less drinks and take from them - But I would never do that as I am a proud cruise critic citizen! coevan Posted September 12, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2019 we were not allowed shots or doubles with Cheers, he told us to wait 5 minutes and get a shot.

I tend to agree with Coevan’s post. From my experience Carnival has gotten a lot stricter enforcing rules related to Cheers. There used to be several work arounds, some already mentioned in this thread, that allowed you to drink more. However, on my last several cruises I have seen bartenders say no to requests like buying a double or buying a fishbowl that weren’t an issue in the past. RHilla619 Posted September 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2019 The system won't let you order any more alcoholic drinks once you've rung up your 15th drink on Cheers. However, there are a couple ways to circumvent those rules.... - Buy a bucket of beer early on in the day, it won't count towards your 15 with cheers, and you will just pay the regular menu price. - Once you hit drink 14 from then on tell the bartender "you are buying a drink for a friend and to charge your card for it". Same idea as above - Make friends with someone not on Cheers, if you get cut at 15 have cash handy and pay them in cash to order drinks on your behalf - Check lido buffet to see if they have the "pour your own beer station", not all ships have it though. Won't count as one of your 15 drinks, and the price at the station is $2-3 cheaper than the bar price.
Don Kehote Posted September 12, 2019 Author #10 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Oh it's not alcoholic drinks I'm concerned about. Just...maybe I want a milkshake. Or a powerade.

How is it you can order a bucket of beer in the morning and it’s not counted on Cheers?

I was watching the Masters in the sports bar and made some fun friends. I asked the bartender if I could buy them a bucket of beer and he said no problem scanned my card and I was charged for the bucket. Yes, I had one of the beers. You cannot use Cheers to purchase buckets of beer... or fishbowls... or pitchers... or bottles of wine... etc. So you would need to pay cash (S&S card). So, if you did this early on, then you could theorectically exceed the 15 drink limit. Edited September 12, 2019 by VentureMan_2000

When you buy a bottle of wine, it counts as one of your 15 drinks, even though you have to pay for the bottle less the 25% discount. That has been my experience on two different ships over the last two months. Not sure what the current rules are on the other items you mentioned, although in the past you could buy a bucket of beer IF the friends you were sharing it with were at the bar with you.

Cheers includes unlimited non alcoholic drinks that you mentioned and the 15 drink limit is on alcoholic drinks and once you reach this limit you are unable to purchase anymore alcoholic drinks on your S&S card. From the Carnival website: Program Restrictions: Guests must be 21 years or older to purchase and agree not to give to minors Each adult assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program CHEERS! is non-transferable Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise; this program is not offered on a per day basis If the program is purchased prior to the cruise, it is refundable up to 10:00pm ET, the evening prior to the cruise departure. Otherwise, CHEERS! is non-refundable Price adjustments (up or down), implemented on the day of sailing, replace any previously advertised price Only one drink at a time may be ordered, there is a 5 minute wait time between orders and sharing is not permitted. No double shots as that is considered ordering two drinks at once Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! program and the remaining drinks will be charged to a guest’s Sail and Sign® account Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks, per 24-hour period (6:00am - 6:00am). Once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served ANY additional alcoholic drinks Program only applies to onboard purchases All bottles and cans will be served opened Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to a guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5.00 USD and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign® card will be charged $0.50 USD for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call) Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise (starting at 6:00am) for voyages departing from our Texas and New York home ports. Drinks purchased on the first day of the cruise will be charged to the guest's Sail & Sign® card in the usual manner. When purchased on the second day of the cruise, guests are charged for the remaining days only (cruise duration less one day) For guests who pre-purchase CHEERS!, it will be activated upon boarding the ship (except for ships sailing from Texas and New York – activation will occur at 6:00am on the second day of the cruise). Guests are instructed to proceed to the bar, once on board, to receive a sticker which will be placed on their Sail & Sign® cards Group bookings (consisting of a minimum of 30 adults) can purchase CHEERS! prior to the cruise by contacting Group Event Planning (all adult guests in the group must purchase the program; all minors in the group must purchase Bottomless Bubbles program) For pre-purchase orders, a message card will be placed in guest’s stateroom on embarkation day referring the guests to the Casino Bar to activate the program CHEERS! is not offered on Europe itineraries, 2 day cruises, charter cruises, on ships sailing from Australia (Carnival Spirit and Carnival Splendor) and beverage purchases made at Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays in The Bahamas
beachgal58 Posted September 13, 2019 #22 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Sorry, meant to say if you are a beer drinker, order 4 in a bucket and hand tender the sail n sign, save for later, buy 2 if you have 2 pax in cabin. In other words, buy extra before you use your card for the day.

ray98 Posted September 13, 2019 #25 Share Posted September 13, 2019 ......this thread went way off topic as usual. To answer the question.....yes you can still get all the non-alcoholic items you want after you hit 15. 3
