Correct. I'm just not sure if all RCI ships do the "3-drinks in other bars". When we first became diamond, the voyager class ship (Mariner I think, but might have been Navigator) did not yet have a DL. We got beer and wine and appetizers in the deck 5 front lounge or in the then "cloud nine" section on deck 14, but no mixed drinks and nothing in other bars. Later they converted the golf club bar on deck 14 into the DL with full happy hour drinks. When the DL got too crowded (often overflowing into part of the main Viking Crown area), they started putting the 3 drinks onto each card.

BTW -- Even though the sign says something like "drinks in the DL are to stay in the DL", I've never had a problem taking a drink from the DL with me outside the DL. Has anyone been stopped from doing this?

On these ships Grandeur, Anthem we got 3 mixed drinks in other bars too. On Adventure we definitely got 3 drinks in other bars too, but not sure about mix drinks as they set mixing station right in DL only for DL and they gave us almost everything right there.

Curious about this too. This will be my first cruise as a Diamond - but my travelling companions are not there yet so I don't anticipate spending a lot of time in the lounge. But I would like to just pop in the lounge for a glass of wine to take to dinner. I know this is the situation that the  "three drinks on the card" is designed for - but would it be fair for me to grab a single glass of wine from the lounge instead of sitting in there drinking for an hour or more? (Of course I realize letting drinks out of the lounge could be a slipper slope...)

No worries, you'll be fine.  You'll be able to walk in the lounge, get your drink/wine, and take it with you.

We've been with an entire group of "happy" passengers who just left the lounge and standing waiting for the elevators....ALL with drinks in their hands.  Congrats on becoming D and Happy Sailing! 😊

You can use your voucher to get a glass of wine in the dining room during the diamond cocktail hours.

This past January on the Jewel, they let use take drinks out of the DL. Would always grab one more before heading to dinner. Typically a Cape Codder(Vodka, Cran & soda) for me. If it's hot, just a beer. One night the bartender was very energetic and was making margaritas, so a margarita it was(or three)!

I've gotten red wine at a bar with my 3-free-drinks. I had already been in the diamond lounge and had a few drinks. So I took the wine back to my cabin, poured it in a bathroom glass (because the wine glass is somewhat unstable if the ship starts rocking). Later, after happy hour is over, I'd go back to my cabin, pour the wine back in the wine glass, and have a "free drink" after DL happy hour is long over. I use red wine because it does not have to be chilled. The fridge in the cabin is not always very cold, and there is not always ice in the cabin, so chilled wine does not work as well. Mixed drinks that I order are often served with ice, so that does not work since the ice melts and make the drink watery. Anyone else taken a drink back to your cabin for later consumption?

Also, does anyone know the official rule for "time between orders". I don't think we can order 2 DL drinks on the same ship card at the same time at a bar. Also, on my last cruise, the DL drinks were no longer available in theater. So, I' d go to another bar (usually the Schooner or the Casino), get a drink, and take it into the show. I wonder why they stopped doing DL drinks in the theater, and is this true for all ships now?

Last Nov. no problem with getting DL drinks in the showroom on Symphony .  I usually go to the bar to order voucher drinks and always get two, one for me one for my wife, always on the same card.  If we are ordering from a waiter in a bar we still order two drinks and hand him one card.  Must be Royals constantly inconsistent consistencies at work.

Is that new? Using one of the free Diamond drinks loaded on the card in the dining room? I thought when I went last year that wasn’t permitted..

They’ve been allowing it on more and more ships. Even though it’s been allowed on a couple of my last cruises, I find it is much faster to just go to the bar outside the MDR.
